This guy came out of no where. I had no idea who he was until the Green Knight but then he showed up in Eternals and The Batman.
He burst on to the scene in ireland as a scummy little fucker in the TV serial love hate which dealt with inner city gangsters.

This clip is not safe for @genecop

He will be a brilliant Joker if the rumours are true and he is given good material to work with.

When Batman was fighting to stay conscious so he could save Catwoman from that follower of the Riddler, and he jabs himself with what looked like a green liquid, was that Venom?

Why does Batman not wear a scalloped cape anymore? I miss that. What's the point of him wearing a cape if it doesn't look like bat wings?

Barry Koeghan is playing an unnamed Arkham inmate/prisoner. We don't see his face clearly. It is likely it's the Joker due to the way he speaks and laughs.
No likely about it. He IS the Joker.

SPOILERS (?)
Couldn't agree more with this. just saw it hours ago and i felt it was very good for the most part but those last 30 mins didn't sit very well with me. the whole flood thing felt a bit rushed in comparisson to the other arcs and the ending wasn't the most compatible with the movie's tone to that moment IMHO. went with 3 buddies and one fell asleep for a minute and the other two grabbed their phone a couple times. personally i didn't but did feel the pacing dragged a bit. loved the second third of the film the most, the chemestry between zoe and rob, collin farrel, the car chase and the scene in the GCPD cell after those 3 riddles in the church. falcone's talk with bruce was very good as well. all in all it was a nicely done film, i think reeves nailed gotham's aesthetic, the music was great (even tho i don't fully understand reeves' obsession with nirvana) and the performances too. Didn't like joker's appearence at the end, i dunno. felt unneccessary and the fact we didn't even see what he looks like left me unsatisfied. I want to watch it again to make my mind up about certain things, A LOT happens in those 170 plus mins. it's up there with the nolan trilogy quality wise but this one's much more broody. i think i like begins just a tad bit more, but it's close.

yea i caught that in the riddler's livestream. you could read the comments about the jacket being surplus.
Almost 8 years here and ya still don't know how to use spoiler tags? jesus christ...

8.5 out of 10. Pro's: Gotham's misery, Riddler's storyline and acting, the detective element, Batman's suit and the graphic violence which was really scary and effective especially Batman getting shot the one time, you'll know which time I mean!! Cons Pattison's negativity, not enough fight scenes, not enough Riddler and Penguin and too much rain/dark scenes. There was some nice surprises and twists at the end. Looking forward to the next instalment. I have this Bat film rated 3 behind The Dark Knight and Batman.

Thanks for the solid review @Dragonlordxxxxx . You conveyed well written information without revealing spoilers. I plan on seeing during the day some time next week, when theaters are less crowded and I can appreciate the longer than usual run time. Re - reading Frank Miller’s Year one in the meantime.

Watched it and I generally agree with @Dragonlordxxxxx's review.

I'd rather post my notes under spoiler tags so only those who have seen the movie.

*This movie's visuals are absolutely perfect. Flawless directing, cinematography, and visual style of every scene.
*I enjoyed Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman more than Anne Hathaway's, but I have one big problem with her costume - using a torn ski-mask to cover her face reeked of laziness.
There's numerous versions of masks the character wore in the 60+ years the comics, and they easily could have taken inspiration from a few to be make something memorable, in comparison to a freaking ski-mask.

(I'll admit given the overall high quality of damn near everything else in the movie, this is a nit-pick)
*Also, Zoe Kravitz and Robert Pattinson's chemistry was one of the biggest high-points of the movie so I really hope they bring her back for the sequel.
*Speaking of Robert Pattinson, I'm very glad I was open-minded about his casting because he did a great job as both Batman and Bruce Wayne (as he was written to be in the script). He's not a billionaire playboy in this version so everyone won't suspect he's Batman, he's still haunted by his past to the point he can't hide it. He can't 'act' normal.
*When I first saw The Riddler on the movie poster I thought 'He looks like a member of Slipknot.' And I wasn't wrong. But not only that the voice synthesizer he used made him sound a bit like Cory Taylor, Skipknot's lead singer, in the web videos he passionately raises his voice.
*Alot of people have been saying the Riddler is like a combination of John Doe from Se7en and the Zodiac Killer. Aside from the cut & paste zodiac codes there really wasn't much in common with the Zodiac Killer. I'd say he was 1/2 John Doe (they blatantly ripped off some moments of John Doe's apartment in Se7en), 1/4 the recent 'Spiral / Saw movie,' and 1/4 Gerald Butler's character in Law Abiding Citizen.
They ripped off the recent 'Spiral/Saw movie' by the killer going after corrupt police and the methods he murdered his victims, and they ripped off 'Law Abiding Citizen' by going completely over-the-top by attempting to kill GOOD civil servants, like the new mayor.

Anyway, I'll post more later.

9/10

Movie was dope. I loved the dark, grimy feel of Gotham. The opening scene might have been my favorite intro from the Batman movies since the 1989 version

Pattison did a great job as Batman. Bale did a better job as Bruce Wayne overall as someone mentioned

Zoe Kravitz was good as Catwoman. I'll give Anne Hathaway a slight edge over her though

Dano and Colin were great as Penguin and the Riddler

Movie could have run about 20 minutes shorter but I enjoyed it so much I won't complain. Just glad I didn't go see it at 10pm

Went by surprisingly fast, honestly didnt even realize it was 3 hours. Still prefer batman begins and dark knight tho.

Not surprising hard to top those movies.

Glad most are enjoying it so far, going to check it out in a couple of hours

I stand corrected. I enjoyed this a ton. I think RP was great with the Cowl on, not so convincing with it off. His hair was terrible, and he is no billionaire charming playboy...he is more like a grungy skater emo kid. He needed a fucking haircut. He is also too skinny. But with the suit on, he was great--voice was great, fighting looked more real. The Batmobile was BADASS. Story/Plot was better than anything in TDK trilogy.
Standouts:
The Villains, holy shit they were so well done and acted:
John Torturro-Such a rich performance
Paul Dano-Excellent
Colin Farrell-Didn;t even know it was him
Zoe-This will make her a star
Batmobile-Sounded like an animal, looked real.

Might have already been answered, but is there a post-credit scene?

is the Irish actor Barry keoghan featured in it with a link to him possibly being the Joker

This guy knows which casting directors to give blowjobs to.

That scene with him, and the Riddler, was trash. Easily the worst 2 minutes of the 160 minute runtime. It was cheap, poorly scripted, poorly directed, and it made both villains look weak and pathetic.

-"A friend? I've never had one of those before."
-"Me neither! Do you want to be friends?"
-"I don't know. It may not be a friendly experience."
-"But maybe we can kill the Batman together in the sequel!"
-"With the power of friendship!"

Sorry, but Riddler just caused billions in dollars of property damage and an untold amount of deaths, including political assassinations that all required a very high level of intellect and genius...

...but he's practically retarded?

As for the Joker, wow... I could write for pages and pages of how he automatically is, as of now, the absolute worst live-action Joker and its not even close.

Its like Hollywood casting directors called him and asked if he would like to play Joker, and all he has to do is suck a thousand dicks. And there he is, didn't even need to get in character to smile that widely.

After such a great movie, those 2 minutes actually killed alot of the anticipation I have for the sequel. Who wants to see Riddler and Joker be a threat to Batman in the sequel? Yeah, not buying it.

One last thing... I was hoping there was going to be subtle references to Quintin Pheonix's Joker. That movie takes place in the 80s and Thomas & Martha Mayne die in the end. In The Batman's continuity Thomas & Martha Wayne die like 20 years before in 2001, highly implying the movie takes place in modern times.

Maybe it was the time period wasn't outright said in the 1st half in the movie, but due to Nirvana's 'Something In The Way' being Batman's theme I was thinking it could be set as little as 10 years after 2019's Joker movie, and there could have been an awesome cross-over between Robert Patterson's Batman and Quinton Phoenix's Joker.

But apparently not. Just a few changes in the script could have made it not only very possible but probable.

This guy is this continuity's Joker.

He looks like McLovin, but he's obviously too gay.

Yea not quite as good as TDK, but I think sequel has a chance of being better.

Torturro was great in this. Completely different from his Transformer’s character.
