The Anime and Manga Thread v48

I know people love this. What am I missing? I am 6-7 episodes in, and it is boring as hell.
I would love to talk to you more in detail why Frieren is amazing and how beautiful and deep the series is but I feel sometimes I have to admit that the show is not for everyone and that's okay also. Maybe lower your expectations and don't expect this show to be your typical action adventure anime and have a mindset that this is more of a slow-paced, slice of life vibe?

Its more of a "slice of life anime" with great animation

I will say it gets way better in 2nd half of season when characters reach certain place, first like 10 eps were uneventful
I wouldn't say the 10 episodes were all uneventful. I enjoyed watching all the little small things that might seem inconsequential but revealed to have some deeper meaning at the end of each episode.

Episode 3 with the demon Qual was awesome. Episode 5 and 6 with the Solar Dragon and the showmanship storytelling on revealing that Stark is a great warrior. Episodes 7 to 10 with the demons was my favorite story arc in the series.

Ah fuck i forgot that 7 to 10 were demon stuff, somehow remembered them being later lol

Frieren takes it's time building the characters, the world and everything. I didn't feel it's that slow.

Jobless reincarnation is much slower but even then the world is much more "alive" imo compared to many other anime.

I checked out The Apothecary Diaries on a whim, and I'm glad I did. I knew literally nothing about it going in (and honestly, if I'd looked into it, I probably would have skipped it, as the premise isn't overly appealing to me), but it's up there with Frieren and Dungeon Meshi from last year (albeit, in a completely different genre).

Also, the main character is a complete and utter lunatic/unhinged science-gremlin, and is always entertaining because of it.

It is a bit embarrassing for grown men to watch a small girl as mc, however its essentially sherlock holmes style with traditional village backdrop. It’s a worthwhile show.

A new one I picked up this season

From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman

Similar to I Perry everything, not as annoying

Frieren S2 will be way faster knowing how manga goes (if i remember correctly)

It's highly ranked so I asked my daughter if it's any good. She told me it's good but it's shoujo. I might give it a shot.

The art also looks like Parry. His former students wanting to swallow his sword is offputting. I dislike any anime that plays with harem themes.

Sword of the Demon Hunter is temu Demon Slayer. Still fun.

Technically it's seinen, but all these demographic terms are kind of meaningless really. If I had to classify it into a genre, I guess I'd call it mystery maybe? The mc definitely gives off Sherlock Holmes-y vibes, but a bit more grounded (like, she's not bending steel bars with her bare hands or anything, lol).

That first episode had me shook, hell of an opener, indeed, nice to watch, i didn’t even notice the name of the show until you mentioned, often lose track of what I’m watching

SWord of the demon, apothacary 2, bumpkin, I’ve collected those for this season, i can handle one more, will be checking random shows.

Binged moonrise, didn’t like it, but had to finish

well, you guys haven't let me down yet.

I guess it's worth a try

It's also important to have the correct mindset going into Frieren. Remember, this is not a fast-paced, action-oriented type of anime. This is more an introspective, chill, slow-paced, slice of life type of anime with great characterizations and profound themes.
