The Anime and Manga Thread v48

Anyone know what this is? Modern military taking on medieval forces and dragons? Looks goofy as shit but I'm intrigued.

That's Gate. I thoroughly enjoyed that series. It's always been one of my wish to see a small modern army go to a medieval setting ang going up against a horde of warriors, outnumbering them 1,000 to 1. And I finally got to see that setting in Gate. Go watch it, it's fun.

Looks like they did a good job animating it, but the manga is very much a shonen-by-numbers series. It'll be one of those 'enjoy it for what it is, but don't expect something that breaks the mold' kind of shows.
I didn't mention anything about story or plot. It's basically Mashle/Kaiju no. 8 fusion. And that is more than enough as long as the art/animation quality is consistent throughout the series.

But with none of the humor; it's played straight. I'd compare it a lot to Black Clover -- a series that stands in the pocket and hits the most reliable plot tropes. If its the type of series you enjoy, it looks like it'll be great. I just wished it had done something a bit more interesting with its setup. It kept hinting at doing something unexpected, and then the first major arc ends in with the most stock-standard shonen scene possible.

Anyone watch Blue Lock The Movie Episode Nagi? I want to take my 9 year old, but debating if I should just wait until it streams.

Ahhh... Have not read the manga. Your disappointment is understandable. I was only going by the 1st episode.

The grandfather of shonen anime/manga is getting a continuation nearly 40 years after the original run ended, and it's finally getting an official release in the US. One more day!

Suicide squad isekai is kinda fun, and the first episode of tower of god was decent, but the animation was a huge downgrade from season 2.

Is Black Lagoon worth watching?

Is Black Lagoon worth watching?

Yes if you like "criminal" animes with shootouts etc

Basically anime happens on island thats held by various gangs from triads to russian mafia and main characters work as freelancers in the middle of all, if you have seen gangsta its very similar in setting

Suggest watching in dub since its very good
