The Anime and Manga Thread v48

Those that are newer to anime or haven't watched some of the big 3 shonen series - One Piece, Naruto and Bleach, there are condensed versions that exist if lack of time is a factor. You can also watch episodes at slightly faster speeds. Try between 110-125% and see if it works for you. I did that watching Naruto Kai for most of the series and the non-action scenes of Gintama.

One Piece: There is something called One Pace. Join their discord and download episodes there. I have yet to watch One Piece, but maybe one day.

Naruto: There are several, but the best one right now is probably Rebuild of Naruto. Again just join their discord. Years ago I watched Naruto Kai, but I hear Rebuild is better. If my kids ever want to watch Naruto I'll probably let them watch this version.

Bleach: Basically just skip all the non-canon episodes/arcs and you cut down the series down significantly. Not including the Thousand-Year Blood War Arc there are 366 episodes. 163 (45%) of those are fillers. Here is the list of fillers.

Anyway just thought I'd share since I had a friend that was on the fence on all of those due to the large amount of content. He started Bleach a few weeks ago and by the time he's all caught up the series will probably be on the last Thousand-Year Blood War cour.

Suicide squad isekai is kinda fun, and the first episode of tower of god was decent, but the animation was a huge downgrade from season 2.

Oh damn, I forgot that this was out now on Max! I will check it out once I finished Garouden on Netflix.

I wonder what's up with this.

Not sure how many will be interested still first 13 chapters of solo leveling Ragnarok just dropped
I'll have to check it out, but best thing they could do is spend the first ~30 chapters redoing the ending of the first series. Won't happen, but a man can dream.

I PARRY EVERYTHING

After the first episode, I thought this was going to be my favorite original series this summer season. It had a funny concept, a likeable humble protagonist and surprising good animation. However.... I started spotting some kinks as the series went along. The hero's clueless gimmick seems to be wearing thin as the series progresses, like how can you still be so stupid and ignorant. The second complain I have is the show intentionally pads each episode with lots of conversations and internal dialogue that for the most part is not important and is just to stretch the run time. I still like the show but I think other original shows from this summer season have bypass this one for my enjoyment. We'll see, there's still 6-7 episodes left.

This is a must watch this season but I think Wistoria is at this series' level. It has no right to have such beautiful art and animation for such a generic premise. The Elusive Samurai is amazing as well but Dan Da Dan is the dark horse this season.

I hate watching that creepy smile/face of that fortune teller in Elusive Samurai that I've temporarily stopped watching it after episode 3.

Ossan newbie adventurer has a similar premise, weak F tier fighter doesnt know he's basically the strongest dude in the universe <lmao>

the show builds up better than I parry everything IMO and is progressing, while I parry is regressing it feels

I started watching Noragami and really enjoying it. Reminds me of JJK, but not needing a recap video after every episode to understand what's going on.

I watched the first 5 episodes, but I'm going to wait until the season is complete before I watch the rest. To me it's just another fun series to watch in between my more favorite or heavily invested series. Same with Failure Frame. Right now I'm slowly watching The Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime S3 and MHA S7.

Dropped 3 anime’s the last couple days. Gurren Lagann, Mashle, and now Darling in the Franxx.

Gurren and Mashle is just way too old, although I only watched like 15 minutes of Mashle. Darling is pretty recent but is way too weird and horny for me.

Edit: wtf mashle came out in 2023. Why does the animation look so blurry and shitty.

Also dropped Vinland Saga a couple weeks back

Gurrren lagann is amazing. Plenty of great old anime that is well worth watching.

Idk I just can’t get in to them after watching modern stuff like demon slayer, chainsaw man, jjk, ranking of kings, odd taxi, spy x family, freiren etc.

I also noticed the older anime’s humor is really corny and just doesn’t hit
