The 5 potential opponents for Pacquiao

But like I said, this isn't 2009. Pac isn't selling a a million and a half PPVs every time out now.If Pac and his promoters want to cover big purses, then they need to find a quality opponent. A few years ago, fans would pay to watch Pac wipe his ass. Not so today. He needs a quality dance partner more than he used to.

who's going to make Danny a star though? He's not the kind of guy with crazy DLH types of Charisma, he's inconsistent with his entertainment factor, the Puerto Rican fanbase hasn't really taken to him. If Danny wants to be a star, KOing Pac will do that, not much else. Pac is also very clearly the A-side. Danny's less of a name than Bradley, and that's the money Bradley took against Pac.

This is being handed a golden opportunity on a silver platter: a fading Pac, still probably the biggest name in boxing. You beat him, you become the next big thing. Swift should take the money while he still can.

4 million is a career high for both guys Broner/Garcia who have never headlined a ppv. As i said in an earlier post, Canelo got 5 million vs Cotto getting 15 million in their bout. That's Canelo's 4th ppv fight.
Canelo got more on the back end, as well as money from the network he has a contract with in Mexico. He made more than Cotto, so he could take a lower guaranteed purse.

Ever heard of the phrase, "Dare to be great?" Take a career high purse, fight a 38 year old Manny. Get that name on your resume. If you win, you're the next star in boxing who calls the shots.

You need that to get to the next level. Pac and Floyd both fought Oscar right around the same time, 28 years old same as Broner and Danny. Difference is that they were already headlining their own ppvs before the mega fight.

I'd rather fight Andre Berto on PBC for 2 million than risk fighting a dangerous guy like Pac on PPV for 3 million.

I also think if he were to fight say, Keith Thurman, a fight that has been proposed and could EASILY be made by Al Haymon, Garcia could probably make around 3 or 4 million.

Pac really isn't in a position anymore to be getting 20 million while expecting his opponents to take 3 or 4 million.

Doesn't matter what current position is for Manny. It's in his contract guarantee 20 million. Just like Floyd's guarantee from showtime 32 million.

Danny isn't getting 4 million to face Thurman. His career high was against Lucas on the undercard of Floyd/Canelo. That was when Showtime was over paying everyone to get back in the boxing game/network.

Danny is definitely taking the easy road for now. As long as he's with PBC he can keep making $1.5m fighting good but not great competition. I've kind of lost interest in him, this not withstanding. He made me a believer when he beat Matthysse but it hasn't been a very exciting ride since then.

This.

There's no logic behind anyone claiming Pac low balled either Broner or Garcia. That's fanboy bias at its worst. Broner dropped Pac's name at every opportunity and then bailed, facing a career high payday, when the fight became reality. Garcia doesn't get a pass either. He was the man at 140 and should be in the stratosphere with big fights right now but he didn't want the opportunities.

bullseye

DG gained a lot of respect from me when he fought and beat Matthysse, but since then it's been pretty underwhelming competition. Lamont was a decent win and Guerrero was OK, but honestly, I've been hugely underwhelmed since, especially because of all the controversy surrounding his fights.

Swift SHOULD be a star, a big one too. But he's taken the path of least resistance and it's disappointing.

Maybe Danny's holding out for Mayweather but his purse probably won't be much bigger. At the rate we're going though he might get a shot at Canelo or GGG for a bigger payday.

He'd have a smaller purse against Mayweather IMO. Might sell more, but he'd get sooooo much less of a percentage.

Wouldn't be surprised lol

Steve Kim said he doesnt to see Pacquiao/Thurman because Pac might lose and we wont see Floyd/Pac 2

That guy is a moron.

He didn't used to be like this. Once he became a TR shill though he went into the shitter.

That said, the Pac/May rematch negotiations are the worst kept secret in boxing. Fat Dan will probably announce it as "breaking news" in like September, lol

Yes you told us all about it back in April after Bradley fight 3 when Floyd showed up to the mgm.

I would like to see Manny face Garcia first this fall in November and win to build the hype and momemtum for a Mayweather rematch.

Two solid wins and then you can build the case that his shoulder is healed and that the rematch will be much more competitive.

Biggest issue here is guys pricing themselves out of the fight. Garcia is way lost on his price tag. He is not getting a big up front figure and a PPV %. Pac wants to keep that to him which is fair. He'll give upfront money away to control that.

Fight will sell. They will be working together on the 24/7 so they can play off each other and will be laughing all the way to the bank.

I know the fight would sell. 1.5-2 million for sure because both these guys are still the biggest draw in any combat sport. They bring the casuals and hardcores to the table along with their own massive followings.

No Broner or Garcia, we can look forward to Pac washing Vargas this fall and anticipate Pac vs Floyd 2 next summer.

for me its Crawford

but i wouldnt mind Garcia or Broner

plz no Vargas though
