That fight was boring...

Let's be honest here and stop playing the whole "I'm an educated fight fan" card.

The fight was boring as fuck.

Rory's fault for not pushing more and being willing to take a shot to get inside, but Thompson is not going to make any more fans by running away the whole fight. Literally the minute they'd get in range he would run half-way across the damn cage.

Where was the flash? Where were the hook-kicks, the spin-kicks? Literally threw like 3 in 25 minutes.

I like Thompson as a person, but he is very much capable of stinking up the joint.

Really don't want to see Lawler vs Thompson all that much after that fight.

so who gets the next title shot then? i'll try to not laugh

Both dudes were a little too respectful of each other.

Wasn't the worst fight by any means, but could certainly have been better.

This whole card in general was pretty boring honestly. Oh well can't expect every card to deliver.

Essentially similar tactics--with genuine striking skills, minus takedown threat and Footloose audition--to a Cruz fight... but he's recognized as a genius and Master of Synergy. /sigh

Yeah, I fell asleep around round 3 and woke up on the couch.

I said it.
I was literally talking to a stranger at a bar in tahoe and not giving a fuck about the main event.

Very disappointing.

It was all wondergirl's fault, I don't know why he's getting so much love after that chitty performance.

Rory was doing his best to engage, while wondergirl was playing 'cant touch me'...

Hope he gets destroyed soon.

Don't really want to see Thomson vs anybody after that fight...

Rory looked lost. Maybe shell shocked from the Lawler fight. I give Thompson credit but man we haven't seen this from Rory before. Ellenburg vs Rory was dull but at least he threw punches.

Give Rory a 10 to 15 ranked fighter next maybe he can his groove back.

i dont get why people are putting any blame on Wonderboy for the fight turning into a technical battle.

Rory did shit all for most of the fight. looked like his game plan was to counter Wonderboy, he was very flat-footed and looked to be loading up tryin to time something.

so much easier to time him reacting to what your doin then try and time someone's blitz attacks, he should have moved forward. and timed Wonderboy slipping either way or feint step in and catch him moving backwards.

and why didnt we see more single leg TD's, against a karate fighter with a predominant lead leg right there for fuck's sake. doesnt mean youll get it but you have to try more then 2-3 times over 25min.

i think there was just to much goin on in Rory's life with it being his last fight on his contract, pregnant GF, fuck'd up nose, and long layoff after a brutal beating from Lawler.

was a bad fight to take at the time.

and starting to get annoyed at Firaz for his fighters poor performances, he coaches like he is tryin to control the fight and when his fighters dont have success with the gameplan they devised they just cant adapt and look lost out there. so many rounds lately that were just conceded from inactivity.

there is so many variables in a fight you can never totally control it, but for sure the best chance a fighter has is finding there rhythm. and idk i just feel they gameplan against opponents to much and not gameplan for his fighters strengths.

But it was Wondergirl's fault. If Rory did the same as Wondergirl, both would be bouncing around the ring trying to avoid one another...

lol did you watch the same fight?

Wonderboy was throwing, landing, blitzing, moved forward way more then flat footed Rory who stayed at range the majority of the fight just taking it dry like a boss.

Yeah, I was. I'm not a McDonald fan either, but there would have been no fight at all if McDonald didn't start pushing forward.

Wondergirl needs to understand, he's not sparring at the gym... he's being paid to fight and hopefully put on a show... he can't do that by running away from Rory for 5 rounds.

The Bosse vs O'Connell fight should make him ashamed of himself.

Only matter of time before Sherdog starts calling Wonderboy a point fighter.

Wasn't disappointed. As WB said, it was a chess match from the beginning. It's more because Firaz knows WB a little too well to not let Rory fall into the traps the WB was setting him up for. On the otherside of that coin. WB being WB. keep the fight standing and pick his opponent apart with good counters and long kicks. Rory was too afraid to stay in the pocket to keep the pressure. WB will make you pay if you just stay in front and waiting to counter. Rory has the reach to keep wonderboy from being more offensive.

Rory was being too tactical and tried to turn up the heat in the last two rounds. It was simply a case of Rory not working enough.

With the way everyone loves Rory around here, I expected him to do more than hold his hand out and eat punches. I thought the fight sucked compared to cerrone/cote

He should be ashamed to call himself a fighter at all after that performance...
