It’s a personal beef between Hun Sen and Thaksin.Nah. Thai civilians have died due to rocket strikes. She'll want blood.
I asked on this forum because the reasoning behind Cambodian aggression has been somewhat unclear to me, and the missus just watches Thai news on YouTube, so she's not going to be impartial.
I've heard that it's over a land dispute and Thai military approaching a temple, but I don't know where the temple is and what land it's on.
It’s a personal beef between Hun Sen and Thaksin.
Hun Sen thought he had leverage because he had dirt on Thaksin, and Thaksin’s daughter was the PM of Thailand.
Thaksin’s daughter was on call with Hun Sen using her Gen Y charm, calling him uncle and all that and also stupidly criticizing the Thai military, calling one of the Generals her “opponent” or opposition.
Thaksin’s daughter had initially pretended like she has control over military generals. But it was all a facade. She announced for his release and he quickly reminded her that she has no such power.
Hun Sen released the audio clip of Thaksin’s daughter buttering him up. She was forced to temporarily resign as PM.
Hun Sen continued to threaten to release damaging videos and pics of Thaksin etc.
The Thai military However, doesn’t care about politics. Cambodia placed land mines on Thai soil and decapitated the legs of 2 Thai soldiers. Then Cambodia fired cannons from their side of the border and it hit hospitals and other civilian areas, including killing women and children.
Thais retaliated by using F16s to bomb 2 Cambodian army bases.
Hun Sen’s son, Hun Manet, who is the PM… has threatened to strike back.

I said Pattaya but that not the province it's Chonburi.Sorry, I meant what province do you live in Thailand?
What dirt could Hun Sen possibly have on Thaksin? And who is the mole in your opinion? How will this affect neighboring countries? It’s a personal beef between Hun Sen and Thaksin.

Does she really want these boots on the ground?Well, apparently Thailand closed a border with Cambodia and their militaries are having a dispute.
Thai soldiers were injured by a landmine that they claim were placed by the Cambodian military. It was on Thai ground apparently.
My missus is Thai and she won't shut up about it. She's mad and wants boots on ground.
Thoughts?

Cambodia denies involvement in landmine blast injuring Thai soldiers
The Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) has firmly denied claims made in Thai media reports alleging that Cambodian forces were responsible for planting landmines that injured three Thai soldiers earlier this week.www.bangkokpost.com

Thai’s might have superior weapons but they’ve never had any modern military conflict. Cambodia’s history is filled with horrific civil war and genocide from the Khmer Rouge. While they’re not physically imposing they have battle hardened vets that shoot guns and are alcoholics. It's such a strange skirmish, I don't understand. Why would Cambodia fire rockets at civilian targets when Thailand has such significant military superiority?
I have seen any reports from Cambodia regarding the F-16 strike on their military target(s). I wonder what was the result?
That thing with the recorded phone conversation between PM's was odd. I don't really understand the problem TBH. I know the Thai government is pretty corrupt, not duly elected, but I don't know much about Cambodia's government.

I’ve been watching combat footage from the Cambodia-Thailand border “war” and it’s some incredibly anachronistic stuff. Dudes in flip-flops, shirtless, with a baseball cap on and the butt hanging out their shorts, hiding in the jungle and firing 70s made Chinese light machine guns from the hip, with a half smoked cigar hanging from their lips.
The tactics are also absolute first class – first make a giant fuss shooting machine guns and THEN, after everybody knows where you are, then you take out an RPG and wait for armored vehicles to come by. All this while, of course, livestreaming everything on tiktok. I know the publicly correct stance on this is to express nothing but unfiltered horror at the thought of war, but sometimes it’s just facepalm-level funny, even endearing.
But the Thai armed forces dwarf Cambodias, something like 3 to 1 in terms of personnel and significantly better armed. Cambodia is launching rockets and Thailand throws up an F-16.Thai’s might have superior weapons but they’ve never had any modern military conflict.
