Crime Texas: Two fat hillbillies kill a Father over garbage

And that is exactly why most people shouldn’t own any. They are not up for the responsibility (as you clearly demonstrate)...

I was in the army too. Let's take their guns. You know who else doesn't deserve guns? Cops and criminals.

When you take the guns from cops and criminals, then we can talk about taking them from me.

Of course that is never going to happen. They can't even answer 9-11 calls. Nevermind disarm the public.

Have we confirmed that they weren't allowed to dump the mattress there? It sure seems like they were under the impression that they could dump the mattress in that trash.

I know where I live you can't put a matress in the garbage bin.

If Old Man initally approached brandishing a gun, he was wrong.

If Old Man approached unarmed/concealed, and then was threatened and revealed he had a firearm, then he was in the right.

Is that fair?

A slight bit of my faith in humanity was restored with this post.

I knew this wasn't complicated. Some people are just stupid.

The article is a wonderful example of Fake News.

While I think both parties were in the wrong, the WaPo article portrays the Millers as psychotic, murdering rednecks and Howard as a peaceful, poor family man victim. They have a Narrative about the evil of guns and rural whites to push, after all.

Then, one watches the actual video, where Howard is in an absolute rage, repeatedly yelling that he will kill both Millers, as they calmly respond and make no threats of their own. Howard is clearly the instigator and aggressor in this situation.

Now, the Millers likely should have backed off and called the cops, but regardless, this was the complete polar opposite of what the article presented.

You draw your weapon because you fear for your safety. If you don't have to shoot you back away and get to safety. This guy knew he would easily win any confrontation being armed with a pistol and having his son backing him up with a shotgun. The extenuating circumstances were that they held their ground to defend a dumpster...

Woah now. Sounds like you are judging someone’s dumpster. Dumpster shaming is not cool.

And you're misrepresenting the story just as much by making it seem like Howard was the one who started this fight and keeping them from leaving. Sure he didn't help the situation, but neither side is innocent. Doesn't mean he should have died though, they're still guilty of killing a man over a mattress in a dumpster.

I agree with you, if we are talking about what people should do.

If we are talking about if these two broke the law, I don't agree at all.
Which makes you just as bad as the government who twists the law in my opinion.

Lol, I think you are mad that the law isn't perfect, and that we value not locking up innocent people, over making sure every criminal goes to jail.

Here is what he deserved to die for.

When he grabbed that bat, and charged, he threatened their life.

I don't care that you think it is unfair to bring a gun to a bat fight. The law, says that is legal.

Ah, but Howard DID start the fight, yet another fact omitted in the Fake News smear. (Like they omitted him carrying a baseball bat, repeatedly threatening to kill the Millers, the Millers only shooting when he advanced on them with the bat moments after saying he would beat them to death, etc.)

If you read the actual police reports and local news affiliates (which, unlike WaPo, are not heavily pushing an agenda), Howard started the stand-off when he decided to confront the Millers. THAT is why his wife was recording the video and gleefully egging him on. (Until abruptly turning into hapless damsel in distress at the end)

Another fun fact omitted in the article; Howard was known to be a local terror and violent bully in the community. The police had come out to his residence numerous times over the past few months, and he had threatened the local mailman to the point where the mailman refused to come to his house anymore.

So while the Millers could have behaved better, there is no question who the instigator and aggressor here was. Howard.

We've been over this. I guess he pulled that shotgun out of his ass.

If you're not from there, it's irrelevant what your laws are.

It's irrelevant what the laws are on dumping a matress. You keep trying to make this about anything other then the fact that this psycho made death threats, grabbed a murder weapon, and charged them.

They pulled out murder weapons first and brought it to that level. You can say he did something off camera, but that doesn't hold any weight. I see something different than you do. I agree he was pissed, I don't think he threatened to kill them until they had the guns out as a threat.

Victim blaming.

It is their fault they had to shoot the guy, because he is a psycho........oh, and the old man pulled a gun out. You will assume the guy with no record is the problem, not the guy with 200 arrests, that you saw on video acting absolutely insane.
