Jason Clarke is a good actor, and he's even good at playing characters that have the qualities of John Connor (e.g. Everest) but he still wasn't really a fit as John Connor. Something wasn't right about the casting choice immediately.

Courtney as Reese was worse though.

Yes for sure. My problem was the miscasting not his acting ability. That and the guy playing Kyle Reece. Kind of a Johnny Storm college douchebag vibe.

Sarah actress was the least of my worries. Thank god for Arnie, as old as he was, to give me some semblance of interest to rewatch it.

But I haven't ever rewatched..of the 5 movies. I just cant get over making John the terminator....a traitorous bad guy!

Unforgivable.

Wait, they maid Connor a terminator?

That’s all I need to know. Will not watch

Did they have rian Johnson involved for this story?

Because that’s subverting expectations mf’ers.

I’ll go ahead and subvert their expectations on ticket sales by not watching this piece of shit.

Sorry bro but Terminator John Conor makes Genysis the worst of the franchise
I agree Genysis sucked in so many ways, but the opening sequence with the Asian T-1000 and some of the attention to detail in recreating scenes from the original put it over the other two.

Is it bad that I like Terminator 3? Obviously not anywhere near as good as 1 and 2 but I still thought it was entertaining. The car chase was great and the downbeat ending was unexpected.

The best parts of Genysis were the opening that was supposed to be in Terminator 2 and the scenes they copied from the original. So basically just the stuff it stole from its far superior predecessors.
Terminator 3 I thought was the biggest sin in the franchise. John Connor was still in a "I have no direction and don't understand how I can be this 'great leader" phase of his life. By that time, John Connor should have been much grittier, hardened, and street wise. Nick Stahl was horrible casting. It wasn't at all believable that this fuck up was going to become the John Connor that lead a resistance to save humanitity. Not to mention, Terminator 3 went too far with the slap-stick humor it started in T2. T3 was one big joke.

I have never been able to watch 3 from beginning to end, no matter how many times I’ve tried.

It’s like it’s not even from the same franchise

I think the issue wasn't the casting but the writing. T3's John Connor, as written, was no leader or hero. He doesn't solve anything or save anyone. He's dead weight continually being rescued by the Terminator or Claire Danes. I don't think there was a hero to be portrayed by Nick Stahl in that script.

I wonder what they can really do with this franchise though? They tried shooting the future scenario in Salvation. They tried going back to the past in Genisys. They tried continuing off from the present in T3. All failed for different reasons.

Maybe we won't get another good Terminator movie until 15 years from now when they reboot the entire franchise and remake T1.

They should ignore everything after T2 and make the true sequel (and hope it's good), like Capcom did with the Devil May Cry series. They ignored the last game, changed the timeline and fixed everything with DMC 5, and that is a masterpiece of a game.

I agree that the writing was definitely the underlying problem, but I still don't think the casting was good at all. They could have filled both of those roles with much better actors.

It's a dead property at this stage.

They're never going to be able to make a film worthy of the first 2.

Just enjoy the lols the flogging of this dead horse brings.

Remember these?

Aaaaaaaaaaahh I have no idea what I'm doing!

Aaaaaaah me neither!

I liked T4. 3 was hot garbage and 5 was very mixed (some good moments with Arnie, then shit moments with shitty terminator Conner).
I doubt 6 will be good looking at the cast.

The saddest part about salvation was how they wasted such a great actor like christian bale on such a bad script. Still, despite its flaws that was the best of the new terminator movies and it was only barely decent or mediocre.

But that ending scene in T3 was great.

New Images from TERMINATOR: DARK FATE Reveal New Look at Arnold Schwarzenegger

The official synopsis for Terminator: Dark Fate reads: "Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) and Arnold Schwarzenegger (T-800) return in their iconic roles in Terminator: Dark Fate, directed by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and produced by visionary filmmaker James Cameron and David Ellison. Following the events of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Terminator: Dark Fate also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta."

IGN recently spoke to director Tim Miller to discuss the upcoming Terminator movie. While there have been several Terminator films that have attempted to carry on the iconic franchise's legacy released in the past decade, Miller said it was Hamilton's return as Sarah Connor that "made it all click for me" in Dark Fate.

"What makes or breaks a movie is whether I care about the characters when everything starts exploding. I’m sure every action filmmaker says that, but I did really try and focus on the relationships of these characters to one another. And the fact that Linda came back makes this particular Terminator fresh, this story could only continue with her in the role of Sarah Conner. That’s the most important thing for me," said Miller. "Linda reinvented this character in a way that both honors who she was before and brings something new to the role."

But it's not just Hamilton who brings a fresh take on this Terminator sequel. Miller also praised new stars Mackenzie Davis, who plays Grace, and Natalia Reyes, who plays Dani Ramos, for bringing reinvigorated energy to the beloved James Cameron-produced series.

"Mackenzie is fantastic, I think people are going to be amazed by what a bada** she is. And Natalia is wonderful -- when you read the script you might think, ‘Oh, she’s not a warrior or a soldier or anything exciting like that,’ or worry perhaps that she might be overshadowed by the other four -- but absolutely not. She’s amazing, a-ma-zing," said Miller.

"Because so much of the film takes place on the messy fringes of society, I wanted to bring an indie film sensibility to an action plot in a way that I don’t think I’ve seen before... at least not on a big budget scale," he continued. "We have a lot of powerful, moving character moments up front, but toward the back half of the movie, when s**t gets going.... holy f**king s**t —it just doesn’t stop. And we tried very hard to make it all different and fresh -- it’s not just people punching each other; it’s a roller coaster ride and I think great.”

Terminator: Dark Fate is produced by James Cameron and David Ellison and hits theaters on November 1, 2019.

This guy talks a good game but I feel like we've already got to "Fool me three times.." on this franchise.
