Teddy Atlas: Floyd didn't carry Conor

Teddy Atlas is a white supremacist, he ALWAYS sides with the white fighter in any fight, and any situation. His boxing/mma takes/opiniona are always racially biased. Plus Tyson exposed him long ago.

<1>

Teddy is an asset but I dont think hes a racist. Unless there are examples im not aware of

We've debated this before. It was more or less the boxing community wanting more co promotion with MMA, just because they're being complimentary doesn't mean its authentic
lol

Oh lord

The mental gymnastics you do to affirm whatever narrative you've drawn up is truly extraordinary.

It baffles me how people can think like this Haha.

It is what it is. You're a decent guy but I think you just allow your hate to run away with you to extremes.

Anyways we'll leave it at that bro. We beating a dead horse with this one. I gotta go eat

In terms of scoring, the first 8 rounds were competitive.

First 3 were conor, 4 5 6 were close, 7 was a dominant floyd, the 8th was close then the next 2 were domination after Conor had nothing left.

Older Floyd, Conor had some attributes which made him more formidable than expected, played it safe, gassed him out, took him out in the deep waters.

Pretty straight forward logic here bud.

You're maybe half rightz if that. We aren't going to change positions on this, no matter how much we post about it. Still, it was a good conversation. I rarely post much nowadays, dunno if its im getting older or mma starting to lose its appeal. I will say Conrads cards have a lot more excitement and even though i cannot stand the guy, my friends and I will make a night of it.

I think Atlas thought that noting Floyd's age and retirement was enough to explain a slow, tentative start.
But it’s disingenuous. Floyd never fought like that before. It doesn’t make sense to me to use his age as an explanation for the strategy Floyd employed. He didn’t carry Conor, he knew Conor had one shot to win...catching Floyd early when Conor still had all his power. Once the fight went into the fourth Floyd picked up the pace and in the 5th/6th Conor started to slow down. Teddy atlas knows better. If Floyd fought his normal fight, yes he would have likely gotten off to a slow start. But he would have been sniping while being defensive and pot shotted Conor a few times and Conor would have stopped taking as many chances. That would have been boring unless you’re a Floyd fan. He wasn’t trying to get booed in his adopted hometown again like the Manny fight. That’s how all of his fights went especially in the second half of his career.

Well something you may not realize

Is that I treat every fighter and situation the same. Cold.

I care a lot more about integrity and truth in analysis than any one person.

I've approached anything Conor related rationally and logically from day 1. It just happens to be a topic where people lack any semblance of integrity in thought and bend reality more than anything else in mma history.

Dont@me<1>

Yeah you could tell when he trained Bradley and Moorer that he really wasnt invested in them winning.

Lol fair enough

Yeah this is one topic we might never see eye to eye on, but it's all good.

Just the nature of anything Conor

MMA is kind of in a dead phase right now. But like any sport it will come back. Hopefully the world will get back to normal without too much chaos and we can get some passion back into mma.

It does feel a lot more cold and robotic, especially since the WME acquisition.

Weird part is, I feel the the UFC and MMA in general are doing the best with covid prevention and infecting politics into the sport for the most part

Yes.

Floyd fought like Floyd always fights. Safe, defensive, counter punching. Conor is much bigger and longer, and likely much better than Floyd realized. After Conor started to gas Floyd took over, but that doesn’t negate some of the clean shots Conor landed in the first few rounds. Very few fighters have landed as clean on Floyd as Conor did, even if it seemed to have little effect. Watching him slip and rip Mayweather in rd. 1 was surreal.

<mma4>
Who else landed on Floyd cleanly? Asking bc I don’t know a whole lot about boxing.

So you agree with Atlas' main point, right?

.in this case e is saying that Mayweather Jr wasnt carrying mcgregor and that he latter had no chance of winning. Those are complimentary of Mayweather jr - the black boxer in this case. So even he is a racist I dont see how that had a bearing on what he said about the fight

Ultimately this is a semantics discussion.

He doesn't think Floyd 'carried' him. And he gave Conor 2 or 3 early rounds.

He also didn't think Conor had even a 1% chance of ever winning.

I'm quite sure most everyone thinks they know what "carried" means, and I'm equally sure that if put to the test, most people would end up having different definitions.

This is the wisest thing said in this whole thread imho and why this thread wont resolve this question.
