Taking Beatings & Forgetting Names

Thursday, July 30th

Jump Rope: 5m
Stretch: 5-10m
Shadow Boxing: 6 x 3m Rounds
Sparring: 6 x 2m Rounds
Stretch: 5-10m

Notes: Last day of hard work. Basically just a warm up and then straight to sparring. Went 3 rounds and then 1 out, and then another 3 before closing it down. My coach said it was good work and that I look sharp. I FEEL sharp.

Friday/Saturday Plan:
I need to make 160, and I am just a few pounds over. Friday, I will just limit my water and food intake, and have my last meal right after a light workout. Probably just a chicken breast, some veggies and a scoop of metamucil. Will do some visualizing and meditation after training. 10 minutes or so of imaging all the worst things that can happen and becoming OK with the possibility of them occurring. Then 10-15 minutes of putting everything together on how it SHOULD happen. Will watch some fights and chill out the rest of the night. Wake up Saturday and check weight. Have a few sips of water, assuming I am where I need to be. Weigh-ins are 10-12, and the doctor is at 1. Fights start at 2, assuming its on time (haha). Depending on where I land on the card, I will either have 1 or 2 peanut butter, banana and honey sandwiches. Then wait to go to work.

The meditation stuff is good. Remember to visualize winning the fight, too.

War Missus!

Good luck man.

I can't help but laugh a little every time I see your log title.

kick his ass seabass!! er... mschatz! Hey that still rhymes (I think). Anyway, best of luck, give 'em hell.

"Keep hittin'em in the ribs ya see? Don't let that bastard breathe!"

He lost on points. We need to get him to eat more to build up that ko power!

lol Zero STFU you have 0 KO power.

Michael Bisping punches harder than you.

Hey all. Yep, lost on points. The fight was supposed to be at 160, and I made weight with dinner the night before, and a small breakfast the day of. He came in at 168, and was more by the time the fight started. He was also 6'3", and I had a hard time getting inside his reach. The fight was close, and I probably lost by a point or three. Definitely could have done things differently in retrospect. The first round, I was closing the distance behind a jab, slipping his long right hand, and then going to the body. For some reason, I stopped doing that, and started sliding forward, taking a few shots on the way in each time, before closing the distance. Also, in my attempts to get inside, I smothered myself quite a few times, and was a bit too close to land anything of damage.

The weight thing was BS, and the biggest weight difference on the entire card, but at least I got some experience against a new look. Not too many Tommy Hearns types in my weight class (or the one above me), so I learned some things.

Back to the drawing board.

I'm going to take that down in a bit, so check it out soon if you are interested.
