Superman uses his freeze breath to calm down Hulk. He then turns back to Banner
Plot induced stupidity is why supes is so strong now, with NO explaination why he just keeps getting stronger as the villains and other comics characters do, just to keep up.
Kryptonians weren’t bad asses on their own planet.
they come to earth and get special powers from our yellow sun. Is how it’s originally explained.
He was “able to leap tall buildings in a single bound “ aka couldn’t even fly originally.
And faster than a locomotive. Then a speeding bullet. Etc etc.
his powers have grown simple to keep up with other characters with no reasoning beside plot stupidity as you put it for him to get OP stronger everytime.
At least with Dragonball the Sayains constantly train to break barriers and get stronger. They aren’t just “given” new strength with no explanation.
Also Saitima would ko supes with “One Punch”...
I used to really like Superman as a kid, and their constant over powering him with no explanation kinda turned me off on him.
Plus all you would need to do is take him to a solar system without a yellow sun, like back to krypton for example, and he’s not much stronger than a normal human.
Right.... bad writing. How superman and most speedsters lose fights. They inexplicably don't use their speed because the writer wants the fight to be exciting. It's weird how many comic fans act like they don't get how much jobbing happens in those stories for the sake of the plot.
It's also Canon in the comics that flashes rogues can hang with him because they trained specifically to fight the flash. Even though many of them have no speed powers, so they shouldn't even be able to perceive his movements. Some of the worst examples of PIS(Plot Induced Stupidity)were in the Flash TV series. The Fastest Man Alive struggled against Captain Cold and his buddy with the mini-flamethrower(I forgot his name). So the Flash can move so fast normal humans can't even see him, but he can't take down a couple of criminals with high-tech gats? Any Speedster would be able to break your arms before you even managed to draw a gun, much less fire it.
Meh. Marvel does that shit too. Look at reality warping mutants like Franklin Richards or the powers of Scarlett Witch when she said no more Mutants. Sentry. Thor is ridiculous in some versions. Omega Level Mutants. Eternal and Celestials. In the world of crazy powers they're actually worse than DC. DC used to give their writers an out like Kryptonite for Superman, The colour Yellow or Wood for Green Lantern, or Fire for Martian Manhunter.I remember a story in which Superman and Wonder Woman manage to drag the Moon out of orbitObviously, Marvel has it's heroes and villains do retarded shit all the time as well, but in general terms, the Marvel Universe is slightly more grounded than DC's.
It's the difference between Star Trek and Star Wars; both are Science Fiction, with technology that simply cannot exist in the real world. But Star Trek at least makes an effort to play by, ahem, "The Laws of Physics, Captain!", even if that means bending them to breaking point and beyond. Star Wars doesn't even bother to try. So you get Space Wizards with Laser Katanas![]()
Hulk would crush his skull if Clark got into his reach.Couldn't Superman just literally rip him in half?
To even talk about this is pretty pointless when you have guys trading Planet busting punches standing on a planet.Right.... bad writing. How superman and most speedsters lose fights. I guess. Superman at his best might be the G rated superman anyway. I feel like we should be moving away from the big Superman city crushing battles and more towards "your grandparents and kids can all watch Superman together."
Indeed, I think a "wholesome family superman" is really the point of the character and why his power level is so extreme and ill defined because its not typically the focus.
If they wanted to make a gritty superman they did in the wrong way, not via grimdark "more powah" action but by taking the wholesome version and putting him into murkier politics.
Yeah, he's Superman, we don't really need to know the exact metric tonnage he's capable of hurling to mars, because it ain't real and that's just not the point. The point is to show that if you have a lot of power it's still fun to do the right thing, and that kids/people like powerful people who do the right thing. I guess.
A shared universe just doesnt seem like a good idea for DC if you ask me, there characters are naturally much more divided in terms of style and tone than Marvels are.
Every time people want to debate this kind of stuff on here, they insist the character they don't like can't fully utilize their powers. So the character they do like can win. Seems pretty pointless to me. And comic vine isn't the be all end all.To even talk about this is pretty pointless when you have guys trading Planet busting punches standing on a planet.
There wouldn't be any Story to tell if you would Stick to their true powers.
On comicvine they usually add no bfr or blitzing for that reason.
I thought they pulled it off with the JLU TV series, but I see what you mean.
Yea, but it is simulated battle by characters with certain fighting skills and styles. Supes not blitzing anyone is in character. Just because he can doesnt mean he will. Same goes for lasering like a maniac etc.Every time people want to debate this kind of stuff on here, they insist the character they don't like can't fully utilize their powers. CBR and other forums where this stuff is discussed regularly have set parameters like no PIS or CIS, so it doesn't devolve into 50 pages of people arguing that the character they don't like will act like a village idiot because that's what happens in the comics for the sake of storytelling. This is a simulated battle so storytelling and inexplicably not using abilities should not be a factor.
Superman SHOULD win, because he's got all the ridiculous powers. But he might not win, because he's a moron.
Someone with his powers should be fighting like this...

Instead he fights like this.

He's a cheat character controlled by a clueless player.
That's purely because if he did so his fights would end in a panel or two. It's a storytelling device often used in comics because power levels are all over the place.Yea, but it is simulated battle by characters with certain fighting skills and styles.
