Finally watched this as was on an 11 hour flight with limited options

Knew it wasnt going to be very good but wasnt prepared for just how poor it was

Superman isnt very super at all. A right we gimp. Stuff like the interview scene with Louis particularly cringeworthy. Not the stoic type character you are used to. An overly emotional little teenager.

The justic gang shocking too. The green lantern, dear god.

The whole thing just feels wrong throughout. No wonder it struggled at the box office

Why would Superman get more than it got right now or when Man of Steel came out?

It has a ceiling and maybe if you could try 20 times it could go higher.

If I had to,rate it again I’d give it a 5 it’s just to silly for me and I said I’d go hard on it bc I grew up,with all the Super movies In Theaters and hold it to higher standard which in this case is a mistake, it honestly deserves about a three if I’m being honest I didn’t expect this to be this bad .

I could see why some may like it but ……each to their own this is pretty bad ,I feel like I was assaulted mentally after watching this one and I needed to be about 6 to like it . Lol

I won’t be watching this ever again , no way and I like watching movies over that are warranted , I’d only give it a 5 bc it’s still Superman.

The movie was solid. 8/10

Felt like a more quirky/lighthearted version of Superman. Superman had a lot of adversity throughout the movie and it's always a good element.

The guy who played Lex luthor did an awesome job. Previous versions of lex were so bad imo.

I still think it sucks not having Henry Cavill as Superman

If you put Caville in the same movie here ( same dialogue, scenes , script ) he’d probably destroy his career and never play Superman again anyway and James Gunn would go into hiding after all the death threats .

Yea I think it’s that bad . Lol

I’d rather watch this ( yes I’ve watched this multiple times ) at least it knows it’s a bad movie , and does a much better job being a bad movie in fact this is probably one of the worst movies you can show ppl but I’d still rate it higher then Superman based on it trying to be terrible and sadly you can actually fit some of this movie in James Gunn universe that’s how borderline goofy he’s made Superman .Lol

Superman literally is hopping around saying “ ow “ while getting bit on his foot by a flying dog , he’s getting hit with cans in his head and he’s throwing temper tantrums when he’s not getting his way throughout the movie at times cursing and fouls up a lot like he’s a clumsy guy where you are waiting to see how he’s going to hurt himself again either in situations or a fight it’s just bad .

If I wrote everything wrong with this movie I’d have to give it a lower rating, maybe much better editing could have saved this movie but it’s unlikely unless they totally left out much better scenes where you could take the movie more seriously and it’s not a spoof

If you like spoofs this movie is for you bc it’s almost borderline one if it got any more worse even the score sucked and it doesn’t need to be any more goofy bc we’re rating an actual Superman movie not Doom Patrol or Guardians which is a comedy , even he wouldn’t be brave enough put a comedy rating on Superman ( though he can get away with it ) and WB made him take out most of the things he wanted I really wonder what that was ? Lol

The over use of humor was always going to undercut the seriousness aspect of this movie bc once you do to much you cannot fix it in the movie and everything becomes slap stick where you aren’t sure if your supposed to laugh or not that’s what he’s created .

Also change the category of Superman to sci fi / comedy and I’d gladly change my rating from 5 to 8 . Because then it’s plausible thst it’s a movie doing what it says and supposed to be , I’ve already faced the fact this movie is specifically designed for gen Z which brings down the actual authenticity and quality from the beginning , I mean Gunn is a grown man still laughing at fart jokes so that’s who I have looking forward to in charge of the Super franchises now .

Personally I think it’s a 4 /5 .

Yes an intergalactic zoo you heard that right , with Superman doing crowd control and he doesn’t even know how to defeat the monster, this is known as great writing these days i guess? Idk . Lol

Finally got around to seeing this. I'd give it a 'harmless 6.5/10.' There's some dumb shit I really could have done without (the slow garage door probably being the worst offender, fucking stupid shit humor that interrupts the movie for no good god damn reason), and it's about as milquetoast an effort as you can get. Doesn't do anything spectacular, but doesn't fall flat on its face. It was a very 'safe' movie.

It's impossible not to compare it to Man of Steel, and I think MoS is better. MoS's lows are definitely lower, but its highs are also higher and the action actually feels impactful.

Again, not a superb movie. But far superior to this year's slop. Especially the early parts with Kevin Costner - the emotional beats actually land. Unlike with 2025 superman and F4.

I know some people want to pretend superman or f4 this year are good. But in truth they are shit compared to earlier iterations of both, which at the time themselves were considered poor to average.

Finally watched it this evening with the wife. I rated it 5.5, she rated it 5.

I don't hate the casting even though I thought I would since I loved Henry Cavill as Superman. Lois, Clark and Lex all looked in their place.

Visuals were unimpressive. Close ups of faces shot with wide lens were strongly overused in the movie. CGI looks bad in many scenes (opening scene where Superman is carried by robots looks so plasticky, and the dog looked weird as fuck, giant Stitch-like monster looked very rubbery and lacked weight). Interdimentional rift looked like I have already seen it somewhere.

I think Lex Luthor (actor, and much more so the character) got too much praise - he is poorly written and lacks any depth at all, he is just an evil bald head. Because he needs to be. Crying scene in the finale made both me and the wife go from "wtf" to evil Peter Parker "gonna cry?"

Luthor's staff are completely filler. Nanite girl sucked ass and just did weird facial expressions. Also trying to choke Superman to death is dumb, he can go to space ffs. Remember what Omni-man said about breathing in space? Fun part is you don't.

Secondary characters were OK, however the reporter rejecting the hot blonde is cringe. Him being a chick magnet is some inside joke I don't get.

Also, this is a very rare occasion where I fucking hated the dog in the movie. The only other movie where I hated the dog must be Cujo, I guess.

The movie did not resonate with me at all, I never felt any emotional tension while watching. It was not bad per se, at least not offensively bad, but as someone said above it felt way too safe and campy.

Will not re-watch, not looking forward to Gunn's DC Universe. Sorry.
