To boot, it beat Zack Snyder’s 2013 film Man of Steel ($116.7 million) to rank as the biggest domestic launch ever for a solo Superman pic, not adjusted for inflation.
Me, when I read this sentence.

So when it's adjusted for inflation it's not the biggest domestic launch for a solo Superman film.

In 2013 I bought an IMAX ticket for $14.
Last week I bought an IMAX ticket for $22.

Wish these boxoffice outlets would simplify the terms by going by tickets sold rather than favorable statistics.

Takes a product with a successful history that it doesn’t have to buy any new rights to make more crap from and goes ahead doing so with some pretty people, a fucking super dog, a Godzilla and almost nothing that makes any fucking sense at all otherwise.

Its a goofy violent film for very small children, think like new Disney Lilo and Stitch (incoherently infantile), that is somewhat considerably degrading to women.

They should have kept it classy and left this brand alone after they hit their high water mark of quality in 1978.

Finally saw it. Good story and we'll paced. I liked everything but the cast - other than Rachel Brosahan who is the perfect Lois or best since Kidder (Justice gang also good). Not a fan of Lex or Superman .

Was a solid summer movie oh par with MOS but well below Supes 2. Could of been better with better cast. Austin Butler would have been a great Lex if they were goung young...... (Still not touching Hackman) - though they went Older Lex Dafoe would of given Hachman a run for money . The superman used reminded me too much of "Smallville" Superman . I guess they were going for bargains while picking g tbe a tors for those roles. Supes parents casting seemed out of place and wrong also..

LOVED Terrific and Green Lantern they were my favorite parts of movie - be great if they got a series along with Stoner Supergirl. Oh the Dog was great too.

Only draw back of story was the ending seemed a little rushed and meh. But it paced so well thru entire movie it didn't matter much.

Gunn renewed my faith in his comic movies - great pacing, good story, great balance of comedy and action. But unlike Gaurdians the casting was just off other thsn Broshsnans Lois and the "Justice gang " .

Definitley reccomend as a Summer movie.

7.5-8/10

I'm starting to see a lot of divisive opinions on this movie, so I can buy it that your friend saying he liked Man of Steel more. But to compare this movie to Superman Returns is just off, that movie though not terrible was dull and joyless.
I finally saw it and gave my review above . Much better than I thought and heard. Was pleasantly surprised just wish casting was better but Gunn really did a great job with the story n pacing.

Cool cool. Now let's hope Fantastic Four: First Steps will also surprise you since you've been very vocal against it. ;)

Only thing I like about F4FS. Is the retro look and coloring as its different an cool. EVERYTHING else about F4FS I seen looks AWFUL With possible exception of Galactus. However with my expectations being so low the bar isn't that high to surprise me.

So I decided to go ahead and get a couple of Superman comic collections.

So far I’ve ordered All Star Superman, Superman: Birthright, and Death and Return of Superman.

Any other collections to recommend?

Kansans don't talk like folks from Alabama.
Fun fact, Gunn had a friend of his whose parents are from the Midwest call the actors who played John and Martha and left them voicemails so they could replicate their accents.

Im near Chicago bought 2 emax ( Emagine theater version of Imax) tickets for 21 bucks yesterday. And Emagine is the best theater I ever been to great seats and like a basketball court size screen.

Granted a 32 Oz Modello was 19 bucks - that part sucked

$21 each or $21 total? that’d be wild if they only cost $10.50 each

imax tickets cost $20ea in Providence & $22 in Boston. it’s honestly the insane cost of a standard screening ticket ($15 in Providence) that really fucking hurts
