SUMO - 2022 Haru Basho (March 13th - March 27th)

Wakatakakage. Unreal strength.

Ozeki Shodai is here.

Takakeisho looked good avoiding trouble

Mitakeumi proves he's gonna be a force

Oh and Enho gets his kachi-koshi clowning a bigger man.

Ishiura cut his recovery time a week short to finish the last 5 days. today's performance made it seem like he should've stayed in rest mode.
Ura continues to fly, with the best somersault of the basho thus far. if he does a cartwheel i might have to take a day off of work.
Takayasu couldn't get the inside grip on Wakatakakage and it cost him.
Takakeisho out-sidestepped Kotonowaka and got the Kachikoshi!
In the NHK feed, after the match Takakeisho is walking backstage in the hallway and smacks the wall because he's so pumped.
THAT'S MY GUY

timestamped for wall smack <Lmaoo>

Tochinoshin lifting Terutsuyoshi out of the ring like a small child to get his KK, you love to see it

Ooo it's close at the top in Juryo. Ryuden's back in the win column, and Mitoryu got the win over Kitanowaka. Enho... what can i even say? Sneaky little sausage. 4 guys at 9-2, and 3 at 8-3, anyone's game now.

Tochi gets the W!

Not really sure Ishiura coming back early from the neck injury is a good idea. Hoshoryu gets a much needed win over Daieisho. What on earth has happened to Takanosho this basho? Wakatakakage just straight out-muscled Takayasu, he's looking so improved since January, i wonder if he watches tape on past Yokozunas like Kiribayama watches a lot of Harumafuji tape. Shodai is gonna get 8 wins isn't he, I honestly don't know if the covid stuff played a part as much as a lack of confidence but now he's rolling. Mita makes quick work of Abi, who isn't looking as fast or powerful as he did last basho. God damn it! Kotonowaka had Takakeisho but he rushed it and lost, learning experience and all that jazz.

wow that strength from Wakatakakage was nuts. with only one hand on the mawashi and not even that great of a grip with Takayasu's girth. that was really impressive.

great to see Tochinoshin get his 8th win, and he couldn't have got it in a more fitting way.

man, this yusho race is going to come right down to it.

They're making the frontrunners fight each other early this basho

First day 11 and now this on day 12:
Wakatakakage (10-1) vs. Kotonowaka (9-2)
Takayasu (10-1) vs. Mitakeumi (9-2)

Do they want a 4-way tie or?

What a tourney.

There’s being on fire, then there’s being whatever the fuck Wakatakakage is on, holy shit man, at this rate he is going to win the basho and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s 14-1.

I know I’m getting ahead of myself but he has it dialed in a way I have never seen him do before.

Wakatakakage heard me mention he'll make Ozeki this year and accepted the challenge

hoshoryu doing it
wakatakakage mega doing it
shodai doing it
takayasu doing it

OZEKI SHODAI IS HERE.
Everyone is is just doing their best.

Wakatakakage continues to look incredibly impressive.

Let's talk about a henka against Enho. Is this real?

I did not expect Takayasu to beat Mitakeumi, interesting final few days

Atamifuji 6-6 with 3 days left to get 2 wins, making me nervous. Ryuden up to 10-2, with 6 guys right behind him at 9-3, spicy.

Ura wins! Give him the yusho!

Ishiura shouldn't have come back early as i said yesterday. Glad Hoshoryu got to 6-6.

I know i haven't been watching sumo as long as you guys, but holy nuggets, Wakatakakage must've evolved after the January basho. He looks completely different this basho. I guess it's just hard work paying off but it's so impressive.

Shodai beats Takakeisho with ease. Yeah i'm convinced Shodai's performance is just based on mood and confidence level.

Takayasu keeping up with Wakatakakage with the win over Mita. Still hoping Mita gets 10 or 11 wins if he can.

Mukainakano looks like such a beast, literally. If you told me the Miyagino stable found him alone on a desert island and thought he had a good build for sumo i'd believe you.

19 and he looks like that, jesus christ.

nothing new to add here, but Wakatakakage is looking really amazing.

I think he'll definitely make Ozeki. Do we think He has what it takes to make the next step? I guess it depends on how he looks once he reaches Ozeki.
