No thoughts? Either its then a good plan or a really bad one and everyone's just laughing. Dunno who I'm refering to by everyone though.

Hello...hello... hello...hello...hello

In case you have'nt guessed my neck still isn't healed and i'm not training today. Oh well.

Wanted to write a comment yesterday but ran out of time. You are not alone brother.
I would say that its a good idea. I have about the same probs (especially with bench). I will first try to put my current exercises in a slightly different order. If that doesnt work as well I will do the same you. so Im very interested....

I was joking, I know people read this thing cos' the view count keeps ticking upwards. I'll let you know how this goes, although it should be obvious as i'll be posting it here.

Oh, that. That is just me logging in with different IPs over and over again.

Holy crap, my neck feels pretty damn good today. I'm going to miss judo today, just to be sure, and then I'll hopefully be able to lift tomorrow. I feel the need for heavy deadlifts, then it's 5x5 on monday.

Hope the neck gets better Smashius.Regards the chiropracter,I see one every 6 months or so and get pushed and pulled. It does seem to make a difference.Good luck with DL's.

Thanks, I might look into finding one near me as soon as term ends. Have'nt really got time at the mo' (he says typing on his computer).

EDIT - I just realised that forthe last three Novembers running I've managed to pick up an injury at the beginning of the month. This year the trapped nerve, last year the messed up collar bones and the year before I pringled my knee landing badly in judo. Guess it's just not my month.

That's the gods' way of punishing you for being English. They always choose November.

*Eats crumpet, smokes pipe*

I say, you are a dreadful cad. Eh wot.

Tally ho.

IMO, you should skip next November, just to be safe. Try hibernating, it's a wondeful way to pass time.

"Did you just try to sell me something?"
*Head explodes*

Deadlifts

I get a PR yet still feel pissed that I did'nt lift well today, it's an odd day to be sure. Ah well first day back from neck injury.

Deadlifts:
110 (242) x3
140 (308) x1
160 (352) x1
190 (419) x1 (PR)
200 (441) x2xFails
150 (330) x5x1
PR vid here feel free to post form comments/criticisms.

That's all folks, did'nt want to do too much until I've been able to see what today's lifting did to my neck. I've decided to modify my 5x5 still further, I dislike pulling deadlifts for reps so I'm going to do a few warm ups and then 5 singles at a fairly heavy weight (this seems to have really helped me over the last few weeks and I feel I should stick with it).

Nice pullin. I'm no judge but looked solid to me. How much do you weigh now?

175 exactly as of a week ago (cycled off creatine while my neck was injured so I got my true weight, it adds about 4-5 lbs when I'm on).

Back to the grindstone - 5x5 Week 1, session 1

Bench:
30 (66) x10
65 (143) x5
70 (154) x5
75 (165) x5
80 (176) x5
85 (187) x5
Squat:
70 (154) x5
92.5 (204) x5x5
Decided to move my bar height down, It's been up at the top end of my traps. Felt pretty weird and uncomfortabel when I walked it out, shoulders felt tight, pain where the bar was digging in, shoulders fighting to xcontrol the bar. Then I went into the hole, suddenly an epiphany 'Oh, that's why they squat low bar', felt solid as a rock in the bottom position. Felt a little odd trying to gauge depth, the new bar position was throwing me off, but I'll soon get used to it I'm sure.

Pullups:
BWx3,4,5,5
7.5 (16.5) x5
Hanging leg raises (static hold at parallel):
3x10
Gripper work (can't wait for my 2.5 to turn up), rotator cuff exeercises and some stretching.

Felt good to be back to lifting properly.

Most awesome shopping trip ever!

Third shop I tried had Chuck T's in my size, not only that, they had them in pure black at half price! Damn, I was grinning all the way home. These things are seriously mean looking, even the label is just plain black rubber.

"You press a black button on the black console and a black light comes on to tell you that you pushed it" - twenty points as usual.

5x5 - week 1, day 2

Overhead press:
60 (132) x5x5
Deadlifts:
110 (242)
130 (286)
165 (364) x5x1 (all nice easy quick singles, 2 minute break between reps)
Horizontal pullups:
3x5
Gripper work and rotator cuff exercises. Hamstrings are still sore from Monday, took too long off due to the neck I guess, so no squatting today, still it was only the light day so hopefully it should'nt be too bad.

All of your quotes are Douglas Adams... this one is from The Restaurant at the End of the Universe portion of the misnamed trilogy, when Zaphod decided to steal the nice pretty ship before discovering that it was about to dive into a sun.

"Where does it say 'teleport'?"

"Right below the word 'Emergency', above the word 'Device' and right next to the sign saying 'Out of Order.'"

What 5x5 variation are you following nowadays smashius? I need to get back to lifting properly... I haven't had a real good deadlift and squat filled workout since July, coincidentally the same time i started training the jiujitsu. Hard to find appropriate time, or maybe i'm just a chump.

I resent that, I keep bringing up black adder and red dwarf as well, plus my text is taken from shogun assassin. *sticks out tongue*

I'm following the Bill starr 5x5 from the spreadsheet on the mad cow website, I've just changed it so that: there's overhead press instead of incline; I'm doing singles on the deadlift (I hate pulling for reps); and I've put in weighted pullups instead of BORs (I work out the weight to use by subtracting my BW from the spreadsheet numbers.

I've always been interested in pulling singles, but never knew how many sets i should do and how to warm up. could you provide some insight? I saw above that you did 2 warm up singles it appears and then 5 singles at one weight. How do you decide how much you should be lifting for the single?
