Story of Jesus Christ was 'fabricated to pacify the poor', claims Biblical scholar Joseph Atwill

Go on. Which part is the "made up part"? P.S., I'm agnostic, so if your reply is going to be some weak "LOL, CHRISTIANS" nonsense, please don't waste my time.

Oh shit, you defeated me before I even posted a reply! Time to e-suicide I guess.

I don't know if there was an actual person or people at the base of the stories in the NT. All I know is the following:

No one who wrote the NT knew Jesus.

The NT is inconsistent with major details of his life.

We have no original documents from the first century, and scraps at best from the second century.

Jesus wrote nothing at all.

There are no contemporaneous corroborations from independent sources.

In order to believe the NT, you have to disregard all of that and more, and take the word of the anonymous authors of the four gospels, who themselves were relying on the word of people who were recounting the story from people claiming to be witnesses.

Perhaps he was, does that change anything? The societies that developed with Christianity as their central tenants were and are far superior to their contemporaries.

That article is moronic beyond belief...and I am not a Christian and in fact have pointed many Christians to the things that had been changed. From the granting of the power of excommunication to the church, to the holidays and how they dont match up to what they say its for (Jesus was not born in December, nor did he rise in early Spring), to the tagging on of him saying he was the Son of God to make him a deity and something that cannot be aspired to...

Christianity, while it was hijacked by the Romans, was responsible for the poor of the Roman empire to break the chains the Roman wealthy had placed on them for 100s of years and did so in the way the Romans could not stop. This man is scholar, nothing more than someone attacking Christianity in an SJW way.

Do you believe Mohammed was a real person?

Which tenets?
Virtually all of them? I won't rehash such well trodden ground however. If you are ignorant of the massive influence that Christianity had on the development of the west and in particular the enlightenment values that evolved from them then its simply due to your lack of research on the issue.

Do you believe Mohammed was a real person?

Bro, for someone who was pre-emptively warning me about not wasting your time, it sure seems like you wasted mine. Are you going to address anything I posted?

I am. Do you believe Mohammed was a real person?

Mary was impregnated when she was 13-14 years old. I guess the Abrahamic god just likes em young

Ever read the talmud? You can take a woman so long as she has a pubic mound. Gross as fuck but those were the times then...

13-14 was a very standard age for women to begin becoming pregnant. 9 was not, and 6 was not an appropriate age for a man to start molesting a girl at any point in history.

Especially when it comes the raping murdering and conquering.

I do admire how the ancestors of those victimized are now the most devout. Talk about sheep in Africa and Latin America. Praying to the white mans god. Shameful.

Is it really news it’s all fabricated?? Jeez. What’s next somebody gonna hit the mainstream that Santa isn’t real??

This is one of those bitter minorities you keep hearing about.

People are going to be believers or non believers regardless. There is just too many people for their not to be believers or non believers. You can actually be a believer in a matter of seconds and non-believer in a matter of seconds. Several times throughout your life. It's inevitable.

That isn't really an answer. I just asked if you thought he was a real man.

Do you have a fucking point or what, dude?

Do I believe the character in the Quran was based on a real person or people? Sure.

It's not a hard question. Do you believe Mohammed was a real person. I didn't asked if you believed any of his religious teachings. Because all the things you said about Jesus can be said about him too. I'm guessing you knew that and realized how you'd boxed yourself in, that's why you were so cagey with your reply.

You are some kinda moron.

I said about Jesus: There may be a person or people the character is based on.

I said about Mohammed: There may be a person or people the character is based on.

Explain how exactly I boxed myself in?

You haven't made any discernable point in this exchange thus far and have wasted my time, making you a hypocrite on top of a moron.

I’m actually Jewish. It’s ok by me if you want to worship a fake Jew but you can come by my house and worship a real one like your mom does

Everybody knows the sequel is never as good as the original. Although I’m not silly enough to believe in the Torah either. No real proof that any of it is factual. Just like Jesus.

I do wonder why Europeans would change his name from what his mom called him?? Seems disrespectful.
