This Tesla run is funny.
What a predictable joke of a stoke with lemmings on both sides getting totally gamed by Musk and Tesla's "leaks" and market-timed announcements.

"One reason there has been so little in the United States is precisely because cannabis is listed on Schedule I, a designation that creates significant barriers to pursuing federally funded research into potential medical benefits. This was recently backed up by U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams, who said, “one of the concerns that I have with marijuana is the difficulty that folks have to do research on it, because of the scheduling system.” Interestingly, it is easier to obtain funding and approval for cocaine research, which is a Schedule II drug."

The lack of research has been due to its classification as a Schedule 1 drug

Anyways there are many more applications to cannabis than simply smoking, edibles becomes legal this year which will have an impact. Then there is pet foods (which is a margin haven), and then lifestyle products such as sleep aid, cosmetics, etc.

Strong science in epilepsy? No. This is exactly what I am talking about.

There has been little high-quality research into the use of cannabidiol for epilepsy. The limited available evidence primarily focuses on refractory epilepsy in children.[13] While the results of using medical-grade cannabidiol in combination with conventional medication shows some promise, they did not lead to seizures being eliminated, and were associated with some minor adverse effects.[13]

Preliminary research on other possible therapeutic uses for cannabidiol include several neurological disorders, but the findings have not been confirmed by sufficient high-quality clinical research to establish such uses in clinical practice.[6][9][14][15][16]

There is no high quality research on any of this and you are stating it as fact. That is what snake oil is. It comes with the FDA disclaimer too like all other supplements. None of these claims have been proven.

... but the strongest scientific evidence is for its effectiveness in treating some of the cruelest childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which typically don’t respond to antiseizure medications. In numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and in some cases it was able to stop them altogether. Videos of the effects of CBD on these children and their seizures are readily available on the Internet for viewing, and they are quite striking. Recently the FDA approved the first ever cannabis-derived medicine for these conditions, Epidiolex, which contains CBD.

CBD is commonly used to address anxiety, and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep.

CBD may offer an option for treating different types of chronic pain. A study from the European Journal of Pain showed, using an animal model, CBD applied on the skin could help lower pain and inflammation due to arthritis. Another study demonstrated the mechanism by which CBD inhibits inflammatory and neuropathic pain, two of the most difficult types of chronic pain to treat. More study in humans is needed in this area to substantiate the claims of CBD proponents about pain control. Cite

It's like weed but you don't get high..

Then what is the fucking point???
For most its about health benefits real or perceived and the anecdotal evidence is huge. Could it all be psychosomatic? Sure. But I personally know so many people dealing with chronic pain and some with Cancer who swear by it. That type of belief (again real or perceived) will continue to drive this IMO. Even a placebo effect is a benefit if that is all much of it is. Mental state (ie belief) is often a key to healing and better outcomes.

Calling it snake oil (even borderline) is silly. I would agree the hype is way out front of it as a magic cure all and the studies will be done now to determine where and where it does not have strong benefits.

But there is certainly strong science, verified science at least in the area of treatment of seizures and epilepsy. That alone makes it not snake oil let alone the early info (to be verified) that it has benefits to anxiety, pain and other.

...We need more research but CBD may be prove to be an option for managing anxiety, insomnia, and chronic pain. Cite

...Some preliminary research suggests that CBD may help with arthritis pain...CBD relieved arthritis pain and inflammation. On the other hand, results of human studies are mixed. For example, a 2016 analysis of human trials for RA, OA and fibromyalgia found that CBD improved pain and sleep, cite

But yes the hype is high.

yeah, like omega-3. ie: fish oil. or flax/walnut oil. and many other oils/essential fatty acids. probably literal snake oil, too, so... yeah, it probably is more/less snake oil.

We can throw sources at each other all day. The point is, it is very similar to all the supplements that have fda disclaimers on them. It has become a huge business and I think people are being taken advantage of.

See post 803 which shows why that type of blanket swipe is silly.

Woooot got in on JBHT despite the earnings being flat!
Also picked winner bank WTFC and loser bank SFBS :P

ACTUAL snake oil is probably as effective as cbd in some of the wonky claims you're making. especially re: arthritis and anything that's joint/brain related - that oils tend to be essential for. oops, i did it again. i guess i need to highlight that joke, too.

You do as i honestly still cannot follow what you think the joke is? Is around the term "Wonky claims" which I have made none or is it the highlighted "essential", I don't know, and i don't see the joke. Its possible its going over my head but its also possible its not fumy because almost nothing goes over my head. I am too fast and catch them!

VMWare dude was actually pretty decent and confident.
I bought some shares that should do ok in the near term.

Am I the only one who is convinced Tesla paid Escobar's brother to make a big stink?
https://www.teslarati.com/elon-musk-boring-company-flamethrower-pablo-escobar-dispute/

Reasons:
-Demanding Tesla shares (implicit stock pumping method to demand a volatile asset)
-Claims of huge financial theft implies Tesla mades lots off selling flamethrowers (it didn't), again hyping their cashflow
-Viral celebrity subject people in Tesla's target market are familiar with (rich males loves shit like Killing Pablo or Scarface)
-Random reason for Musk to tweet about his companies without discussing car making.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi recently disclosed that her husband, Paul Pelosi, bought Salesforce.com stock options in June.

Paul Pelosi, a businessman and investor, paid $150,002 to $350,000 in June for a total of 100 Salesforce (ticker: CRM) call options, according to a regulatory form Speaker Pelosi filed. Specific figures aren’t required for disclosure, only ranges. He bought 20 options on June 14 for $50,001 to $100,000, and bought another 80 options in June 20 for $100,001 to $250,000.

Dominos pizza crashed on earnings. Think I will buy.

You're right that we can throw sources with agenda's at things all day. But what we CANNOT do is throw videos at one another. Have you watched the videos Harvard references? You should as they are stark and unless you believe seeing is not believing or you think the person suffering a seizure is an actor, there simply is no denying that it is having a massive impact there.

So comparing it to snake oil or things that may just have a placebo effect is not a fair or objective assessment and denotes some hard core unyielding bias.

Is it fair to say the hype around it are way out in front with few of the claims properly tested or proven? Absolutely. But it is wrong to say its snake oil as if nothing has been proven. In the very early days of testing, testi9ng that is made difficult by gov't prohibition Federally, there is at least one massive medical benefit found and others indicated.

So something is more true because it is in a video over print? lol. You are the one with the bias. It makes a fuckton of claims and none have been proven. It's like a cranberry supplement. There is some mechanism which says it could work for urinary health but has not been proven.
