STARFIELD discussion

Awesome stuff! I hope the buggy is tied to some corporation. I'd like to see several variations like they have with ships. As cool/fun as it looks to drive around, the problem is that there's nothing really interesting to drive towards atm. Let's hope that changes as the game improves.

If Shattered Space is at least as good as Far Harbor, we're in for a good time. I really want to get lost in this game again!
There's one type so far, I drove it around in Jemison. It's pretty cool, apparently Vasco can ride in the back.

How does it work? Do you need a special bay for it, or does it just spawn out of your ship? How does it handle, the trailer looks awesome!
You go to any ship technician and purchase it for $25,000 and yeah it will spawn next to your ship on any planet you land including all the major cities so you can go on a rampage and run people over lol.

You play Halo? It handles a lot like a Warthog but also reminds me of the Mako from Mass Effect

Just got mine. How this wasn't included from the beginning is mindboggling. We had rovers on the moon in the 70s irl ffs.
IIRC Bethesda has never had any vehicles in their games and all prior vehicle mods have been janky.

Speaking of, they already have a Moon rover mod

And of the things that should've been in the game at launch, didn't know this mod existed.

Nice! I've barely touched it since last October-ish. I can't wait for Shattered Space and to dive into the mods. I love hearing that awesome soundtrack in the elevator mod video you posted. It's one of my all time favs!

I played for a good few hours tonight. I was playing Fallout London but the crashing is too much. I downloaded a mod to speed up load times, as they could take a few minutes just entering a small room, but it made my game crash far too much. It's unplayable with the load times, so on the backburner it goes. It's phenomenal otherwise, but it made me crave Bethesda.

I was messing around with some of the creation mods. There's an excellent Andreja clothing and body adjustment, looks really good. I did the free Tracker's Alliance quest. It really enjoyed it, but I'm not paying the asking price for the other bounty. They should have charged a fair price which will include further voiced quests (if that's what they are planning on doing) as I really liked it and all the new characters you meet. There's another mod that adds 50 unique POI's. I found a couple already, we need even more of those! I can't wait for Shattered Space!

Andreja clothing and body adjustment,
Go on...

I've been on a gaming hiatus for the last 2 months apart from just playing for a few minutes here and there to try out updates, last game I completed was FF7 remake (still haven't finished the DLC though) and haven't felt like playing anything, I'm just in one of those slumps lol But I will get back to this and other games eventually. I'm going to try and finish Warhammer Space Marine 1 before doing anything.

I look forward Shattered Space and that POI mod sounds really cool

haha, I figured you'd like that Andreja business. My old Rogue body changer clothing mod no longer works, so I was glad to find this almost immediately and free through creations (Andreja Overhaul by Nahruuk). She's even more asstastic now lol

I've paid such little attention to SF since I stopped playing last Oct/Nov-ish. The mod scene is really picking up!

Of course my YT feed is now flooded with SF content, but I'm not complaining. Check out how far along the Star wars total conversion is already. it uses Wabbajack exclusively though, something I've never dabbled in. Apparently it's pretty user friendly.

btw, I messed around with the vehicle on the way to one of the new PPOI's, what a difference that makes. I'm definitely going to download the warthog next time I play. I love that it uses the same controls as Halo, where your mouse controls direction. I spent countless hours playing Halo CTF, especially CE, while driving the warthog.

Def finish Space Marine. It gets a bit repetitive 2/3 through, but a new enemy freshens things up and it has a great ending, perfect segue for the sequel!

So who getting in on Shattered space time?

I pre-ordered it a couple weeks ago. It better deliver. Besides I need to hit level 100 for the last achievement lol. I'm only at level 56

I got the early access edition so I'd get the DLC when it came out, can't wait! I think they'll deliver on what they're good at, handcrafted worlds with rewarding exploration. If it's anything like Far Harbour, we're in for a treat. House Va'ruun is the coolest aspect, so I'm excited to learn more. They've been dabbling in Lovecraftian cosmic horror for a long time with Fallout too, now they can go balls out!

I've been playing it quite a bit the past week, loving the mods. I'm just sticking with the creations versions of them for now. On top of the quality of life updates Bethesda has made, mods give you loads of adjustments. From new ship modules, to clothing, enhancements galore, and new quests, to name a few, you can spend hours losing yourself in the mods alone. I've only downloaded free mods, but there are a few paid ones I may take the plunge on.

I love the body adjustment clothing for followers. They were so PG/boring in the vanilla game, so it's nice to be able to have some fine figures strutting around lol. Jessamine is an even better follower now...

There's a really great mini DLC Bethesda made called the escape. It's basically an escape room thing with a cool story behind it. It costs about $5 (500 store credits). I got 1000 credits with the version I bought, so I was able to download it without an extra purchase, but it's def worth your $$ and time. Go into it as blind as possible.

There's also a fan made quest mod (free) called Stairs, takes about two hours. It let's you walk from the Well to the upper Promenade in New Atlantis, with a cool quest in it.

Def do Bethesda's free Tracker's alliance quest too. Opens a new HQ and bounty quests, but the story one that comes with the download is worth doing. You can pay 700 credits for another story bounty, but it's a BS price. Hopefully they build on it with better pricing models. The Escape DLC (fairly priced) was prob their response to the controversy.

I'm one of the few who loved Starfield
I still have issues with it, but I love it. It's quickly approaching New Vegas as most played game on Steam. Prob half my new time with it is messing with mods and ship building, as the customization is off the charts, and I haven't even dabbled in Nexus mods.

I love these wings, they actually fold down/retract as you take off/land

I played about 6 hours of Shattered Space so far, it's pretty good. It's not looking like the Far Harbor banger I was hoping for, but a big improvement overall, in that region at least. A few of my mods are broken though, so I'm going to wait to jump back in.

The best thing they did was make the city explorable beyond the main core, with handcrafted locations. I've never had to leave with some fast travel ship quest, so it looks like they're keeping us in one spot (you can leave if you want to).

However, it highlights how stupid it is that no other planet has similar meaningful explorable areas. All that space around new Atlantis and everyone is living in a high rise, or underground, preposterous nonsense. Akila tries to have lore explanations with dangerous animals keeping citizens in the main hub, but FFS, it's not hard to build walls.

Anyway, the quality of life changes in the update improve more things, but the rest of the game is largely unchanged.

I love the art style though, feels very alien. I hear it's inspired by Morrowind, but it reminds of more of Vulcan from Star Trek.

I like how even the space station the quest begins on looks unique. I look forward to making something like this with mods.
SP-SMall-2.jpg

This is a location outside the city, clearly not some generated POI trash finally.

Def take Andreja with you, has unique dialogue.

You have the CRT mod for Andreja's appearance?

You have the CRT mod for Andreja's appearance?
Yeah that's it!

I did it manually from Nexus at some point last year but couldn't recall what mod it was. I never bookmarked it, so I haven't been able to add it to my Steam Deck version. TY!

Combined with Andreja Overhaul by Nahruuk (on creations) she looks her best. Some extra bonuses too

  • "Andreja's Walk": Her walk is now normal instead of her default lumbering.
  • She no longer tells you that she "doesn't share" when romancing her.
  • She no longer rejects you if you are already in a relationship with another companion.
  • She no longer gets jealous if you start another relationship while in a relationship with her.
I have some eyes mod downloaded manually from last year as well. I forget what it's called, but I think you have that too for NPC's. Really brings them to life.
Andreja-Smaller-3.jpg

There's also a great Sarah overhaul by the same author (Nahruuk on creations). Fixes her up a bit, hair and face wise, but more importantly...

Anyone else playing Shattered Space? It's getting killed in reviews on Steam lol, mostly negative.

I liked what I played a lot, but it's not going to change hearts and minds if you didn't like the game. I don't think it deserves so much hate though. Maybe it's not long enough to justify the $30, but I'm still early in it.

They really need to demote Emil Pagliarulo before they get cracking on ES VI, he's the half baked king, always running from delayed gratification. One thing I really disliked about Shattered Space is how you join forces with the Va'ruun people. In typical Emil fashion...
you have the lamest trial to become a member of their clan. Keep in mind, these people are incredibly xenophobic and haven't had an outsider join their ranks in a long time. All you have to do to be fully accepted by them is basically say yes to bunch of questions and hand over some junk from your inventory. This is as shallow as becoming the Dragonborn in Skyrim, or even joining constellation, you never feel like you earn it.

Yeah the eye one is called Eyes of Beauty: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/493

I loaded up the Andreja overhaul but it looks like it disables achievements?

Ahh shit. I never even thought of about that. I gave up on them for mods.

My fav thing to do in game is build ships, but I hate how annoying the random doors/ladders can be. I'm pretty sure the mod I use called place doors/ladders yourself disables achievements, It was either that or something else essential for me.

edit* Come to think of it, there must be a mod that lets you use them and reenables achievements? There was usually one for Fallout 4. I'll take a look, but they can sketchy for save files from what I recall.

edit 2, looks like this one works, but if you have a save file/files that already disabled achievements (my case), it won't reenable them. Look through the comments and judge for yourself (Steam version only IO believe).

I ended up using this one before I saw your post:

I followed all the instructions and got a pop up when launching the console command saying the mod was active so looks like it all worked

Nice, so it works retroactively on saves that were already flagged?

Looking through the comments, looks like it's the case! I love that it doesn't need script extender. I'm trying to not use mods from here on out that don't.
