STARFIELD discussion

Nice, so it works retroactively on saves that were already flagged?

Looking through the comments, looks like it's the case! I love that it doesn't need script extender. I'm trying to not use mods from here on out that don't.
I hate script extender... lol

Ooops, meant to say I'm trying to use mods that don't rely on script extender.

It's a love hate relationship, especially after the Fallout 4 "next gen" update, borked so much for me!

It does allow more complex overhauls, but there won't be anything meaningful for a while. The Star Wars one is coming along nicely though.

Yeah I just don't like the hassle of it. I've used it but having to launch the game from the script extender exe is annoying.

I like that everything is contained on one planet. The story is short, but at least there's a lot of side quests.

Not sure it's worth the $27 I paid for it though.

My biggest gripe with starfield is that the main storyline is way, waay too short.

Did you finish everything?

I'm away for a week or so, relying on my Steamdeck mainly, so I haven't been able to touch SF as I have too many mods on my desktop. I don't want to try and recreate it on my laptop while on the road.

I really want to play it though, especially now that I can't. I was reading that people felt that SP was cut content, in that it wasn't much different than any other planet. Sis you feel that way?

I only played about 5 hours, but the city felt very different for me, in that there are places to explore tjat arwnt recycled POI's outside the main hub.

Yeah the map has a lot more density and life to it than any other planet. Granted the main city is kind of lame compared to Neon and the like. I mean 50 locations that can be traveled without having to take off is good. I really like what they did with the maps in general by making them more 3d

I haven't finished the main story yet but I have a feeling I'm more than halfway through it although. I've been caught up in doing the side quests and discovering the locations.

Didn't most of the city get destroyed? I was hoping for a more sprawling city, but I like that it felt unique along the outskirts. It gave you something to drive towards.

Just bought the vehicle. Dis gun b gud

Seen this?

I've been playing other games over the last two years, keep meaning to go back in and finish my play-through but never get around to it.

Yeah, I saw that leak, had quite a few channels in my feed hyping it up.

Being billed as Cyberpunk 2.0 is a tall order. I just don't have faith in Bethesda to deliver the goods. Looking surprised that Shattered Space wasnt received well disnt look good on them.

I REALLY hope I'm wrong. A lot of Stafield's big issues can be resolved, and there's so much room for improvement. A compelling DLC would go a long way too.

They have a big opportunity with the PS5 release to do something epic, so I hope they deliver.

I do like that they've been super quiet while constantly updating their builds on Steam's backend.

I love much of Starfield as is. I will be happy if they have a great expansion, while reducing loading screens, making more Habs natively useful (infirmary works with a doc for ex), more handcrafted and better POI's, a settlement build system to match FO4, space station builds too, better animations, and the big one, letting us travel between planets in real time and giving us things to explore along the way.

From what I've heard, traveling between planets will be natively added, as mods showed us it could be done.

What do you want to see in the big update?

I definitely want to see the space travel improved, like you said. More variety in POI locations would go a long way, more variety in NPCs as well. It's all those little things they can improve that would get me back, I want to see that stuff fixed before I jump back in. Otherwise I probably will go back at some point just to finish the main story. And it never should have been PG-13.

I haven't played it since it first came out. I'veplayed maybe 10hrs. Is it worth coming back to?

I assume this is coming to PS5 but has that been officially announced? If so, is there a release date announced yet?

I'd wait to see what they've been cooking behind the scenes. Here hasn't been an update in a while, but you can see lots of activity/build updates on Steam DB.

There's a lot to enjoy, really like, and be frustrated/meh about. It is has tons of potential though, but it feels like a 2/3 finished early access release.

The new update coming in spring is being leaked as something big, so I'd hold off. Unless they Bork things like they have with Fallout 4 updates, it can only get better.

There's nothing official listed, but through trusted leakers, it's not a well kept secret.

They've made some significant QOL changes and fixed a lot of bugs, which really did improve the overall experience, and they added a buggy to drive around on the pointless planets. It's still the same game, though. There is fun to be had in some of the questing, and it still has one of the more interesting approaches to new game+, but it still feels a bit cluttered with pointless bullshit(the base building and space battles), and the pacing is kind of all over the place, and the skill trees are still very dumb and unrewarding. There's nothing terrible about it, but there's nothing all that memorable either.

Once I was able to navigate it's weaknesses, and just stick to the tried and true Bethesda questing loop, I found it pretty fun and addicting, but nothing that wanted to make me stay in that universe, like with Fallout or Skyrim.

I haven't picked it up again. I'm sure some it's improved.

Maybe I didn't play far enough but the story and world never grabbed me.

I honestly forgot the game existed.
