STARFIELD discussion

I cant play til the 6th

I just wanna know a few things and I dont wanna know anything else

1. Does this play kinda like Fallout 4 or Skyrim where it's open world and you pick up quests and has a main questline?

2. Do you level up and do you have a perk tree kinda like in Fallout 4 and Skyrim?
1. Yes

2. Yes

Why the fuck did I pick PlayStation over Xbox.

Super bummed coming home from work today. Was excited to get a few hours in this afternoon and came home to an Internet outage. It was supposed to be back on by 6pm, but it just came back on and the game window is closed.

It seems to me that among those reviewers that are only giving it lukewarm scores the biggest complaint seems to be that it’s not No Man’s Sky. Was this game marketed as just being another (superior?) No Man’s Sky?

Because it’s better? No console is worth buying over one game. Pay a dollar for PC game pass and just play the shit out of it then unsubscribe

I admit to having no idea how the lock picking system works

Its a classic case of expecting things that were never mentioned, but simply assuming it would be possible because that would be cool. Then, when these not mentioned but expected features arent present, its because of "lies".

The dashes slot into the gaps of the ring. You'll start on the outer ring and work your way in. What took me a while to understand is that you can choose which dashes in the box on the righthand side to use first. You don't have to try and slot the first set of dashes it gives you.

Space x Caves in morrowind. I guess most expected flying would be more immersive.

Can you hijack other spaceships?

Played for about 4 hours (pc), really liking it. So far I've been to New Atlantis, then a settlement Mars, after the opening segment on some moon where you do some mining.

New Atlantis feels super grand and is bustling with NPC's. It remined me of the Citadel in Mass Effect. The Mars place you go to feels like something out of the Expanse. Both feel very lived in, giving it that grounded/worked in Star Wars vibe, love the aesthetics.

The main score is tantalizing and I like the Constellation group you first meet.

What I'm really surprised with (outside no bugs far) is how smooth the gameplay is for me. I'm playing in 4K, everything maxed, with 75% of the res (if that's how it's described) game looks sharp.

I have a good card, but not the beefiest CPU.

The gunplay/melee feels good, and I like the ship control in combat.

My only disappointment is the lack of HDR, and even auto HDR. I can't believe the latter isn't at least working. The colours were a bit washed out, until I turned off film grain.

Will you be making a dick shaped spaceship?

If 150+ hours of Bethesda in space isn't your cup of tea, I can see you giving it a 7/10. But if you know what they typically do, this is them doing it on a more grand scale and possibly better than they've ever done. I'm quite pleased. It's Fallout in space but more refined. The combat is far beyond any other modern Bethesda title. The score is great. This thing is going to keep me busy for a while. Six hours in, no glitches either. I'm having to force myself to stop playing and get some sleep.

They were pretty upfront about what the game is, I just don't get it.

It would be cool if we could seamlessly land our ships on any part of a planet and explore the entire thing, but then you'd have No Man's Sky limitations, ie still procedurally generated worlds with little to do. The only game trying to merge complex locations and total seamless space exploration on a large scale (that I know of) is Star Citizen, and that game isn't releasing any time soon, if properly at all.
