STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

If you have seen STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, how would you rate it?

But I do not agree regarding Luke's projection technique. That distinctly seemed like the kind of thing, within the Star Wars universe, that the Force might be able to be used for. I have no problem with characters finding new ways to use and manipulate the Force. Remember that it is supposed to be an energy. There are a lot of ways to use energy.

I never complained about the Force projection in Last Jedi. But I do think it's the kind of ability Luke should have only gained if he had, say, read the Jedi texts while he was on the island and continued to train in the Force.

I quoted two people, one of which was complaining about Luke's new abilities.

In regard to your comment here, you have to remember that Luke was running an entire Jedi Temple with disciples and shit. You have to think that he learned a lot and refined his technique between the end of ROTJ and the destruction of the Temple.

I agree with you 100%

I mean just cause its not on screen doesn't mean it didn't happen

I've noticed you're starting to troll this thread hard so not sure how seriously to take this.

But . . . yes. You are correct.

The filmmakers expect some things to be understood through inference.

Not trolling at all

Prequels have big time gaps as well inbetween films and I dont see anybody complaining about that

To me, it seems obvious regarding Luke's abilities.

He started a Jedi Temple and began instructing others in the ways of the Jedi. Obviously in order to do this, he had to still BELIEVE in the ways of the Jedi.

He wanted to be the best teacher, and therefore the strongest Jedi master he could be, and so he continued to explore the Force and figure out new ways to use it and manipulate it. This new projection technique is one of the things he figured out.

But why didn't Luke just bust into Jabba's place and start Force wrecking everybody instead of allowing himself to be captured?

He was already plenty strong at that point.
So Leia, Chewy, and Han would be safe. He did wreck shop later anyways.

His original plan was to use the jedi mind trick on Jabba but it didn't work. And he even force pulled a weapon. From there Luke had to use his back up plan. And it was most likely to build tension for the sarlacc scene(for the audience).

I got something that makes your point irrefutable

The timeskip between Empire and Return

Luke is a Jedi master in Return while in Empire he is just a scrub

They skip all of it. They show none of it. All of a sudden Luke can use mind control and shit lol

I think my theater saw a different film then most here are describing. My theater was cheering at the end of the movie. Of all the people I've talked to in person I haven't had one person say they didn't like it. A few thought it was only ok but not one has said it was a bad movie.

Agreed.

I was at Barnes and Noble today buying one of the SW novels and the girl at the check out asked me if I had seen the new one. I said yeah, and I loved it.

She said she loved it too and was happy to hear that I did. I then said it was a lot better than The Force Awakens and she agreed.

It was a nice moment.

I think because that's just not something a Jedi would do.

You are talking about a Jedi's character. A Sith would take action first and ask questions later but a Jedi would always look to end things peacefully

Jedi are pretty much Buddhist monks

Holy hell I just read that there are quite a few people calling this one of the best star wars, some even saying its better than ESB. Are they just trolling?

It definitely should be a top-ranked entry.

Not sure how I feel it measures up to ESB, but I WILL say is that ESB sags in the middle. Some of the shit in Cloud City is kind of boring.

This one is balls-to-the-wall enjoyable start to finish.

I think thats why people dislike the thought of Luke trying to kill a child

Very out of character for a Jedi

Anakin murdered an entire room of young padawans on his way to the dark side.

Well I think a Jedi has to draw the line at getting captured.

So your explanation is that Luke COULD'VE fixed the whole situation but just chose not to?

Well I think a huge thing across the franchise is the shaky foundation upon which the Jedi Order stands.

Well I think being captured was part of his backup plan in case things didn't work out like he wanted them too. That's why he made sure to give R2D2 his lightsaber

He probably knew that he could not reason with Jabba but tried to anyways

Considering that Luke should've been concerned about the grave possibility that Leia was getting raped nightly by aliens then he really should've shown some urgency. I mean, he did show up to find her looking like this. Fucking dog collar and everything. I mean, shit.

This was a very underwhelming movie, just felt very hollow and wasn't all that compelling other than a few moments.

Pretty lame considering the budget and better talent they could have hired.

Luke was already getting force visions during Empire. He saw his friends at Cloud City that's why he decided to leave Yoda early

I think its possible that Luke had some idea how the events with Jabba would play out.

The more and more I think about these movies

I think Anakin is my favorite character lol
