Seeing it through less serious fans eyes helped. I'm going to level off at around 7, and yes. Maybe that's generous.
See I think this movie was made by less serious fans like yourself. That’s the problem. They needed a real fan behind it so they could do justice for the real fans watching it so more great movies can be added to the Star Warsverse.

Again I think we got that last year with Gareth Edwards although I wouldn't be supprised if Johnson had to deal with more Disney meddling.

im so fucking sick of the bullshit SJW narrative anti-Trump bullshit.

also fuck Leia surviving space. Only good thing was Luke pulling the insane Jedi mind trick.

bullshit dialogue trying to be funny, its pathetic.

I gave it a 6.

Also who was Snopes? like wtf. I wanted some backstory.
I feel ya man. We’re all asking questions and wondering what in the actual fuck. That Leia scene was when shit hit the fan for me.

I think my theater saw a different film then most here are describing. My theater was cheering at the end of the movie. Of all the people I've talked to in person I haven't had one person say they didn't like it. A few thought it was only ok but not one has said it was a bad movie.

The more I watch reviews and see comments, the more I feel that the biggest detractors had their egos tied into their past two years of speculation and fan theories. Like they were waiting for a, "See, I told you! I'm the greatest Star Wars fan ever for predicting that. Please comment, like and subscribe to my YouTube channel for more fan theories and speculation for the upcoming movie, then go to my Patreon page and send me a donation."

So you havent been reading any of the criticisms in this thread, then?

It’s even more upsetting that this movie had an excellent score (as usual) but still felt empty. The prequels at least had an atmosphere you wanted to learn more about and felt like you could escape and get lost in that world for each movie.

And if Luke was a hermit on that island for so long wouldn’t Yoda and Obi show up once in a while giving that dank ass Jedi master advice?

#Minetoo. A fair amount of clapping at the end.

People keep crying about Snoke. After what happened, who cares what his story was? Dude was a fucking can the way he got taken out.

People crying about Holdo not making shit known. Last time I checked, Leaders and Generals did not have to consult with their juniors when making battle plans. Maybe Poe should have been higher up the chain of command if he wanted to know what was going on.

The real fans would never get a cohesive movie onto film. The real fans might the most segmented of all.

LITERALLY the correct answer to “What’s next?”

Oh, were you in full costume on opening night last week? I'm a serious fan, but have some perspective about it all as well.

Edwards was chaperoned and Tony Gilroy directed some it. And I'm fairly certain Gilroy has no respect for nostalgia. No matter who directs the films we will complain. Hell we complained about Lucas.

It's just dumbfounding they didn't name Spielberg for IX. Like why hasn't that happened?!

I suppose I, for one, have to reclarify my review.

I gave it a 6 and want to put it to a 5. Now, this isnt a bad movie by MY standards because simply, I have seen worse. For a Star Wars movie, yes its most certainly bad.

In this threadvyou have people talking about opposite outcomes as being the only saving grace. Different people want different things. That said, I had many of the same gripes as many others about this movie. But you are right about letting the inmates run the asylum.. The 80% that didn't get what the wanted would bitch.

Right. If it isnt broken, dont fix it.

There is more than 1 reason why people love Star Wars. These reasons are what keeps us coming back to the theaters, dressing up at conventions, replaying movies, buying the toys, etc. Why change it? Shit, why chance changing that?

Its wonderful that people would like to add something new to the universe, but to deliberate change so much, even eliminating the framework, its disastrous. So, though I gave the movie a 6, I can perfectly understand without question why people give it less.

how would you stack The Last Jedi vs Revenge of the Sith? I remember liking ROTS more when I saw it on opening night 12 years ago.

The belligerence is hard to decipher. But essentially criticisms are: a poor handling of Luke and replacing the mystery of Rey and Snoke with nothing especially tied to the previous lore. And spacewalk Leia. And no one cares about Canto Bight. Did I miss anything?

Theory. The reason they used a force projection is that they tricked Luke into filming a different ending to keep him quiet and relatively happy . There's a picture of Mark Hamill has it comes out the Premier looking after the shell shocked and devastated . What are you guys and gals think ?

Why?

Well, because the number of die hard SW fans is still smaller than the number of general movie goers. Because the new Star Trek movies showed them you can play around with canon as long as you put a visually appealing movie on film. Because you have people not affiliated with the creation of this universe running the show.

For me personally, I think the real question and the main reason people are so pissed, is die hard fans wanting to know, “Why ditch the EU for new canon?” Most were excited and hoping for their favorite SW extended universe story to be made into a film.

Wasn't that first a Lucas call? Wasn't he the guy that wanted canon to be "just the films?" I know Disney also made that decision, but then relaxed to include some other things (I feel, due to backlash).

People that dismiss Snoke’s importance or relevance are overlooking the fact that he’s important in the development of Ren’s character.

If they’re not going to explain where Snoke came from, how he started the First Order or how he got his powers that’s fine, but then they should at least explain how he came into Ren’s life and began corrupting him.

Maybe Snoke’s not important, but Ren sure is, and Snoke plays a major part in explaining how Ben Solo became Kylo Ren.

My whole thing there is you SEE Snoke doing all that to Ren in front of your eyes.

Luke trained him. Snoke made him doubt himself, laughed and belittled him, tempted him with his own desires and weaknesses, admitted to manipulating him, actually manipulated him, we seent it, and brought revenge upon himself because he could not help it.
