While it's good to be inclusive .......... there is a such thing as taking a good thing going toooooo far an making it a bad thing. The total focus on girl power is really going to far in the new star wars universe.

Making sure ever nationality is well represented instead of focusing on tbe different species that made the first trilogy so great.

Ackbar...they should have replaced Haldo with Ackbar.

People actually give a fuck about him.

Would not have any negative effect

Dude.....I didnt even think about that. That only makes me angrier thinking about it. Jesus christ.

I thought I hated Attack of the Clones. The Last Jedi makes Attack of the Clones look like Citizen Kane.

TLJ pitch:

"Let's make Mad Max: Fury Road... in space... but boring!"

I just came back and saw it. I knew the spoilers coming in so I was more analytical rather than reacting to everything. My expectations were very low but I found it to be actually a good film. Really, outside of a scene or two it was very well done and thematically and logically consistent.

I'd rate it the 4th best film in the series, and it's a lot closer in quality to Return of the Jedi than the mediocrity that was Revenge of the Sith. It will age better over time.

I forgot about that absurdity: Finn and Rose fail their mission because of where they parked their ship, leading them to Benicio del Toro who betrays them and gets most of the resistance killed

LMAO, it's so dumb.

that plotline was more about showing how the First Order came to power (indifference and self-enrichment) and how the "flame" of the rebellion will be re-lit - class warfare, as is with most revolutions. Further, it enhanced the heavy handed theme about not going in like a reckless hotdog.

I don’t see how you can possibly see this as a good film. It shits on all the characters like ruining Luke, Snoke, Poe, Finn, etc.. it adds crappy new characters that take up way too much screen time aka fat Asian ugly chick, crappy side story her and Finn adventure, it ruins any kind of momentum going into the third film.. so many things I could go on and on. Just awful.

Snoke never mattered, he was merely a plot device. As someone who likes lore it was annoying not to have his background explained, but for the film it really didn't matter. Luke followed a similar path as to his father, he was conflicted and in the end redeemed himself and found peace. Finn's journey had to do with finding something to fight for other than just Rey. Poe's arch was about him transitioning from Kamakaze pilot and rogue to tactition and leader, which is needed when you only have about 20 people left.

I was disappointed as well when I initially heard about the plot points being discarded, annoyed and angry even. But, when I put aside the fanboyisms of what I wanted to happen with Luke and characters like Akbar and looked at it as a film rather than a Star Wars film, it worked. For example, I know this may be sacrilege but Akbar didn't fucking matter and really neither does Leia at this point. It's now about Poe, Finn, Rey and Kylo Ren, mission accomplished.

I don’t have a problem with an all inclusive cast. What concerns me is that following Luke’s death there’s not a single white male protagonist left, while the First Order is completely white men.

Why can’t they both be all inclusive?

You bought the row? Nice. Your expectations were too high. But some of your compaints are legit. I was mad at first, saw it again, and realized it wasn't as bad as I thought. The more i think about Luke, and what they did with him, the more annoyed I do get, however. It was a movie to get kids involved in a story. That's what Disney does. My 10 year old liked it, and so did my grown child semi-girlfriend who isn't into star wars. She thought it was great. It wasn't made just to please hardcore adults, and once that realization is met, you can watch the movie with different eyes.
The entire series are kids' films. Lucas tried to beef them up in 1-3, but it lost the mojo. These are kids' films, enjoy them for what they are.

Was anyone else waiting for the reveal that the Vice Admiral was transgender?
