I was hoping he'd create a force black hole and make all the at-ats implode.I like your style.
To be honest, man, when I saw all the lasers shooting at Luke and knew Luke wasn't going to die there, I was just thinking he was going to show he'd become some sort of Keanu-esque figure where he was operating on another wavelength of the force and the blasts wouldn't even touch him.
When he was standing there unscathed and brushed his shoulder off (a little lame but kind of fun for the future gif purposes) my mind was in overdrive as to what he was going to do next. In actuality, I fully expected him to showcase some never-before-seen-Steven-Segal-real-lethal-shit with the force. Like just clenching his fist and crushing whole AT-AT Walkers like a soda can.
What they went with was more of a pulling a Kenobi. Nothing wrong with that but obviously many of us were hoping for Luke to tear shit up.
Or how about this movie finally stopped the everyone is related/small universe nonsense.
You guys just wanted another generic disney machine made film. No worries though, JJ is coming back to save the franchise.
So what happens to Leia's character in the next movie? I guess she'll just have to be killed off screen or written off somehow.
I would add as well that ontop of the other unanswered questions the whole nature of "the resistance" still makes limited sense to me. The New Republic was the dominant force in the galaxy at the start of TFA with the first order on the rise so were does a small band of rebels fit into that?

Taking into consideration that the entire resistance needs to be rebuilt through grassroots inspiration, we're headed for a time jump of 2 to 5 years and she'll be written off as dead or busy recruiting/governing.So what happens to Leia's character in the next movie? I saw this movie again tonight.
Kylo is the best part of this movie. His story is actually awesome. And Driver is a very good actor.
It’s better on a second viewing but it also makes you notice the glaring problems even more.
They still needed to train Rey and keep Luke alive at the end.
I’m guessing the next movie (episode9) will take place years after this movie ends. The rebellion needs to be reformed and built again.
In some respects I think that makes the faults stand out for, TFA for me was just a "meh" for the most part from me bar a few hints at Kylo being more interesting but this film does I think have moments of excellence in it and the potential for more which makes its failings elsewhere that much more obvious.

So what happens to Leia's character in the next movie? I guess she'll just have to be killed off screen or written off somehow.

If they would've let Luke train her and showed Snoke and Kylo's relationship the movie would've been better. Cutting the casino scene compeltely or making it a good plot device, rather than a silly one. Poe could've led them on the side quest detailing his natural leadership abilities over being Looked at as a pilot (granted the best in resistance) who blows things up.
You could've had Phasma on their tales the entire time adding more to her character as well.
Even keep the same ending but let Luke live until the next movie. Would've been the better route imo. Killing Luke was meaningless. And I still say he should've destroyed all the Walkers on the screen with the force. Really showing the exertion of it all and the command he has on the force.
i think the real twist would've been to let Luke live for all 3 trilogies and killing off everyone else. No one would predict that.
A few plot changes and the movie would be incredible imo. The Snoke throne room scene was done extremely well but would've had more gravitas if Rey was trained. She still would've left with the tough decision at the end showing her walking the balance between light and dark.
You know, if it weren't for the fact we see Finn's motivation at the beginning of TFA, he certainly does seem to fuck up enough to warrant suspicion that he just might be a spy. His cover IS the incompetence, dontcha see?! Which makes him a Palpatine!having him facing prejudice as a former Storm trooper would have given the character some much needed depth.

So far I've seen a lot of complaints that want more of the old stuff. Given the franchise is trying to turn a new leaf, and now that the element of surprise and the disappointment of expectation has been rendered moot -- how soon will it be before you haters give it a second go? Never? Only if on cable?
No one who disliked it is willing to give it a second shot in the theater, are you? Except for Amerikuracana, who didn't exactly hate it the first time.
LOL, reminds me of this:

That’s how I’d feel if it wasn’t for this place too.
