STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI

If you have seen STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI, how would you rate it?

the white knights of Disney are still defending this poor star wars film. literally the same 3 while everyone else is hating on it.
Last time you said this line it was two.

How is it possible to hate STAR WARS when you've recycled your own little ideas so often?

Jesus, I mean if that's how you feel about The Last Jedi, you must REALLY hate the original trilogy. . .

The glory of Star Wars is it excites the imagination but the stuff on screen is actually really odd and often times disappointing.

This is just an absurd defense to BAD WRITING.
"Maybe he just changed his mind!?" Really? That would be an acceptable explanation ?
It is very clear that Abrams and Johnson had entirely different visions on what to do with Luke. Love or hate whichever version you want, but there is just no defending how they made the transition. This was supposed to be a sequel, and TLJ spent a bunch of time just undoing shit from the first film.

Lol i mean, TFA ends in this kind of iconic moment where Rey and Luke are looking at each other, it's raining, and she's presenting his light saber to him...like.. "teach me, dad"...
And then if you were to cut directly to Johnsons movie, Luke takes the saber and then just throws it away. Lol wut? Absolutely awful.

And Luke DID give up.
He knows how powerful Ren is. He knows there is no one out there but him who could stop him. He knows this is his nephew. And this nephew is now going to war to kill his own parents, which are Luke's sister and best friend. ..along with the rest of the galaxy...anddd he is just going to stay home? He tapped
I'm sorry if you get this all the time but frankly who the fuck are you?

Just kidding. That was all well reasoned but I just disagree. The blueprint to every heroic journey is, to turn a phrase, you're losing until you win.

I've never felt like Star Wars is some kind of godsend, as many do. But I do appreciate the world building.

I think each movie is flawed in its own way. Even that hallowed Empire Strikes Back has a dull second act.

I think the Star Wars story is mostly about the ideas. This is why Anakin's storyline is the most interesting.

I had a hell of a time watching TLJ though.

Shocked 42% rated it 7-9.

I would say Force Awakens was a 9. This was a 4 in my book.

But Anakin's on screen stuff is, again, really odd and often times disappointing. I will say I think so far Kylo's story is interesting but I don't have high hopes for future installments fulfilling the potential he has as a character.

Last Jedi had really bad moments, but there were some scenes that I thought were great. I wrote my thoughts a few pages back.

I think you got confused.

Sure you don't mean the worst Star Wars movie of all time gets a 4 while TLJ gets a 9?

Really?

You liked this one more then force awakens?

To me that is like saying guardians of the galaxy 2, was better than the original. Yeah, it was more of the same, but it was better the first time.

I think my problem with TLG, has to do with the old characters playing too large of a role. I'm glad they have a role in the movies, but the actors outside of Ford, just aren't good.

I don't really care for the Anakin-as-a-Child stuff. Phantom Menace kind of sucks. But Clones is an improvement and Revenge of the Sith is awesome.

Revenge of the Sith is the only Star Wars movie that has lingered with me for days.

Well, first off, for the record I loved the first Guardians and turned the second off halfway through. I made a promise to come back to it but still haven't done it.

I legitimately think The Force Awakens is THE worst Star Wars movie in the entire series. I've watched it twice--once in the theater and once at home--and both times it nearly sent me into a coma.

As I've said before, "things happening" does not make for a compelling story. And that's how I felt about Force Awakens: It was an impressive technical achivement but the plot was little more than "things happening."

I thought TLJ was far more focused and thrilling. It's my #2 movie of the year, behind Blade Runner.

I also think TLJ, made the jar-jar binks foible.

The original star wars movies, were kind of dark. I wouldnt take a 5 year old to go see them. Jabba the hutt would scare the shit out of most 5 year olds.

This had that kid friendly jar jar blinks feel to it, which I hate.

It is the difference between the Dark Knight, and batman and robin, with the governator as Mr. Freeze.

I didn't buy Anakin's turn. One minute he wants to save his wife and unborn kids and the next he's murdering children and force choking her. He's also supposed to be super powerful but the most impressive thing he does is take out Dooku. Which Yoda could have also done if he didn't save Obi Wan and him. Odd and disappointing. I like Snoke much more than Palpatine.

I think Anakin's turn is just as much about his disappointment with the Jedi Order as it is with his desire to save Padme, and that is what makes ROTS a brilliant film.
