I think its pretty obvious Johnson intended for this to be his death. However, I dont think that means Abrams cant retcon it somehow. Johnsons certainly burned....well....pretty much 100% of Abrams' set ups. Not like Abrams cant do the same thing.
That's a very strange comment for me... as my point was that he actually died. So u telling me that Johnson intended for this to be his death, is like you telling me exactly what I said.

What I was expanding on is that "now that Luke's dead"... he's a force ghost... & the new comic pretty much confirms that imo.

The point he's making is that since Johnson "burned" Abrams' plot devices, Abrams could return the favor by resurrecting Luke. It's the notion that TLJ doesn't honor TFA, but that's a mistaken notion.

I think the ridiculous commentary that those two directors are rogue agents allowed to do whatever they want while Disney micromanaged solo to death is a shout out to how delusional the resistance has gotten.

Just take one single step back & look at reality on this one. No fooking way Rian made these decisionz on his own. We gotta keep this discussion real here folks.

But did you nazi the t-shirts?! There were der tweetzen!!!

And if ya got y'mind made up like that --

I am agreeing with you. What Im saying is that establishing something doesnt mean it cant be changed. If Abrams comes along and says he teleported away, the fact that "died" wouldnt matter.

Its like JR coming out of the shower on Dallas.

Wait, too old?

its like any comic book death. Yes, they may have "died" but that was until someone else came along and said they were actually teleported away onto a skrull spaceship and a fake body was buried in their coffin.

It has nothing to do with retaliation and just possibility. Myrrddin is saying that since he dies he must remain dead and Im pointing out that thats not accurate.

Heh heh. The argument of what is and isn't accurately portrayed in a given mythos opens the door to cherry picking and quibbling, and there's enough of that already obfuscating people's points. We already see that with Force Projections -- which have already been established pre-TLJ but then is undermined by what is considered canonical -- zero resolution there.

I understand your point that it's possible to bring back Luke without violating accuracy, but Myrddin's point is about honoring the story. The emotional climax is his death, and reneging on that emotion would be like at the top of TLJ removing Luke from the Ach-To without giving his self-exile any sort of significance. Abrams put him on that island for a reason, and that reason must be good enough that it allowed Han to die because Luke was elsewhere. "Han died so Luke could grow stronger" is not what I want to believe about Luke.

Its not accurate and since you cant really reboot Star Wars its the best course of action they can take to win fans back. But make no mistake, they made people who loved SWs and basically apathetic to the franchise going forward. They done goofed.

Thanx for the commentary. Very true that we've seen this many timez. (understatement)

But Rey & Leia both saying "luke is gone... I felt it..." & then even after 8 months have past... & all this time after the movie... they reinforce it again with that comic.

To your point, I wouldn't "completely" count it out... but since it's been confirmed in the movie, & then double confirmed 8 months later in hind site... I think it's pretty safe to say Luke's dead. I'll give you 10% chance they pull some BS on Luke coming back but I really feel like that's even too high.

8 months of hindsite & reaffirming Luke's dead is pretty telling. Especially after all the backlash they're getting from that casualz that didn't realize maul has been alive for over a decade.

It's a right of passage bro

I only watched it to be able to properly join the conversation and get the references

Same reasons I watched Justice League and other shit movies while drinking

Drinking helps - you need to experience
