Son of a bitch
Hey I love that line!

I feel like when you post its above average for a sherdog poster but liking a shit movie with so many things wrong with it makes me question your intelligence.
Hey, thanks.

Most of me is delighted we're all very passionate about this film and discussion. And part of what I'm doing is not trying to convince people otherwise, but rather unlock a different dimension for them. I can't take away your initial impression, and I don't even fault anyone for outright hating the film -- I just believe that eventually the tide will turn and people will see something that, at least I think, is plainly visible.

What encourages me is knowing that THE LAST JEDI is in fact a great film, and when you realize it it'll be a wonderful moment for you. That's all I'm aiming for.

Why did Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker worry about escape pods when the Death Star was blowing up in Return of the Jedi if they could just fly through space? Total plot hole

From what I could research, Empire was also divisive upon its original theatrical release; people couldn't believe that their hero was the offspring of the main antagonist. It definitely shook things up, but is now remembered as the greatest installment of the series. I just think many of the modern fans were too young to remember, or even be present for the initial divisiveness of Empire, nevermind the fact that social media has given everyone the ability to be outraged on a scale which didn't exist in the early 80's.

I agree, that with time, TLJ will likely be remembered more fondly than it is now.

well, at least now we know who two of the 13 dipshits who voted "great" are.

LOL.

Complete fucking idiots I tell you. I guarantee they liked all the Transformers movies as well.

I don't mind having a female lead but it really feels like they're trying to do this:

It makes the movie feel stupid lol
I see maybe one/two Trans characters, not enough!

What's hard to buy about it?

Don't get me wrong. I know that a lot of people keep saying it's disrespectful to the character, franchise, their childhoods, this morning the mayor and the prince of darkness from on high, et al.; and I get why they say that even though I don't agree. I get that people think there's an SJW agenda and that Rian Johnson is a pompous arrogant enfant terrible. I get that Luke doesn't really pick up a lightsabre and when he does it's a stupid joke. I get that the casino scene makes no sense for some people and that Rose Tico is ugly. I get that the Snoke should have had more backstory and Rey some lineal connection. I get that people don't like purple hair. I get that this is silly:

I get that.

You don't get the other side? MR. STARS WARS BIGGEST FAN?

I've tried, Brother. I really have. But I don't.

I didn't like Transformers.

The Last Jedi belongs in the same shit pile as Transformers, Independence Day 2, X-Men Apocalypse, and Alien Covenant.

The fact that you guys are defending this film, pretending it had so coherent story, good acting, etc is ridiculous.

Let me guess, your childhood was ruined too.

Let me guess, you thought Rose and Finn was so touching, and "pulled at your heart strings."

LOL! and let me guess, you cheered when Rose and Finn rescued those greyhounds in Las Vegas.

Dipshits are gonna dipshit..

carry on.

What's the point of rewatching anything then? How about going to the theater and seeing plays. Never going to watch Romeo and Juliet again because you know the story? People will always go to those.

How about remakes that were almost as good as their predecessor like dawn of the dead? Or exceeding their predecessor like in The Fly?

Glorified remakes, have some new elements to them, and you just cant beat reliability.

The Last Jedi took a chance and it failed. Let it be a testament to never, EVER fuck with the material.
I think you're grossly overestimating the amount of remakes that matched or surpassed their predecessors.

I gave zero fucks about Finn in the first movie and I agree his shit was weak in the second, but that's what happens when you start with a shitty character.

But at the end of the day, why you so mad, bro? It's just a movie.

ok, first accurate thing you have said thus far.
Never claimed to like any of the casio shit, but again, never liked Finn in the first place. I still liked the movie overall and it's the first of the new Star Wars movies that got me excited for a sequel...until I remembered that JJ Abrams was directing Episode 9.

ok, help me understand this.

In what way or how, did the Last Jedi make you excited for the sequel?

tell me what you liked about this film please. maybe I missed something.

Because as much as I initially enjoyed TFA, I didn't like the direction it was taking the new trilogy; a remake of the original trilogy. The only vaguely "enticing" things that they included in TFA ended up being red herrings in TLJ, which is part of why I liked it so much. Fuck Snoke's back story, fuck Rey's parentage, I saw those as nothing more than fan service and geek bait.

I hated Kylo Ren's character until, in TLJ, he stepped out of Vader's shadow and became his own villain.

I liked how Luke, rather than becoming some fan service, OP, secret weapon was reintroduced as a disillusioned curmudgeon, who eventually rises up to the occasion, becomes a martyr and gives the resistance their inspirational second wind. To me, that's a much better character development than a one-demnsional improvement over his former self. He goes through peaks and valleys, which give his character more depth and his decision to ultimately rejoin the light side, that much more meaningful.

Don't get me wrong, I see the flaws too, like why did Luke make a secret map if he never wanted to be found? Why didn't Admiral Holdo just tell Poe her plan in secret, the remainder of the fleet would have been better for it. How, when they've got limited fuel and time, did they manage a side mission onto the casino planet? Sure, they're problems, but it doesn't take away from my ultimate enjoyment of the movie.

As for how you felt, I'm not here to change your mind. I'm criticizing the criticisms.

Youre smoking crack. Theres nothing redeemable by this shit movie. Its not like shit turns to gold later. This movie has no redeemable qualities and is the worst star wars film ever made
