They should name episode 9 Revenge of The Skywalker and it should be Luke's ghost tormenting a guy who suspiciously looks like Rian Johnson.

I loved this movie - but I will say this: the people who hate it, hate it way more than I like it.
Yah see, I can't take these opinions seriously. You can be vehemently claiming you are serious, but I just cant buy it.

You even said you loved it. i...I just cant

It's an awesome movie. You keep your head buried in an echo chamber it can be hard to hear the truth (about anything).

Even the echo chamber comment seems like you're messing with me.

Thank goodness I'm not alone this time.

My brother is gonna stream it, supporting the streams.

Bah, hard to do that with a sci fi movie.

I don't know why I keep wishing they'd just dismiss this movie and do a do over. I'd be incredibly impressed with them.

If they said that Ep8 was scrapped and they would start over all would be forgiven

awesome in what way? the only thing that you can say is awesome is the graphics and if you spend that much money anyone can achieve that.

Poor story, bad directing, bad script, plot holes galore. Timid action that has no consequences. This list goes on and on, on how shitty this film is

Every single thing you said was incorrect.

I mean politically I'm very much a liberal myself but to me the STarwars sequels are actually perfect examples of ideology being used in a highly cynical fashion, Rey's character in both films and the whole Poe mutiny plot in TLJ are just poor writing for me hiding behind nods to equality.

True equally is writing a female character just as interesting as Luke was in the originals and ironically I think we did see Lucasfilm come up with a good effort inbetween in Jyn, a far more flawed character of limited abilities yet also far more interesting(and indeed somewhat unique in having a heroic female lead die, Alien 3 is the only other one that comes to mind in a big film). I suspect the issue might well have been Disney were more directly involved in the sequels and left the anthology stuff more in Lucasfilms and indeed the director/writters hands aiming at a hardcore audience.
It would be nice if Rey had a purpose for fighting with La Resistance, or had some weaknesses. In the middle of TFA she wanted to leave and go back to Jakku, I don't even remember why she stayed? She pretty much has God mode activated too, and is excruciatingly boring as a result. The only character that has any arc is Kylo, which is weird as he's supposed to be the antagonist. That's why it would have been interesting if Rey and Kylo switched roles. Speaking of boring, Poe and Fin became one dimensional spoofs, and the chubby Asian was as useless as the side quest she went on.

The biggest issue is that there was no concrete plan for this hot mess, and that falls on Kathleen Kennedy, complete and utter incompetence. You can tell she let Rian do his own thing, because there really is no flow to this trilogy, it's like we watched two movies from alternate timelines.

Why is it such a tragedy to predict a sensible, simple plot to tell a story about light sabers and starfighter battles? A few surprises are a delight but what's wonderful is seeing imaginative material come to life. Predicting it just means you love it and you're a fan. Being completely wrong just for the sake of turning left instead of right, that's some purposeful shit and it's not for story telling.

Keep It Simple, Stupid.
If it's too predictable, especially when the series started off with a glorified remake, it essentially sets the new trilogy up to be, you guessed it, a glorified remake. What's the point in that when the original trilogy already exists?

Yeah, it's like people don't realize that a lot of us who hated the movie really wanted to like it, but it's just a really bad movie.

I don't mind having a female lead but it really feels like they're trying to do this:

It makes the movie feel stupid lol

What's the point of rewatching anything then? How about going to the theater and seeing plays. Never going to watch Romeo and Juliet again because you know the story? People will always go to those.

How about remakes that were almost as good as their predecessor like dawn of the dead? Or exceeding their predecessor like in The Fly?

Glorified remakes, have some new elements to them, and you just cant beat reliability.

The Last Jedi took a chance and it failed. Let it be a testament to never, EVER fuck with the material.

I feel like when you post its above average for a sherdog poster but liking a shit movie with so many things wrong with it makes me question your intelligence.

I guess you could be a fan boy who refuses to say anything wrong with this film.

Its very weird to me because its not hard to see how shitty this film is

hahahha

oh yeah

man the people who hate this movie wanted the following:

a two hour lightsaber battle where Luke kills every single new character involved in Star-Wars. Then Han comes back, they hug each other, turn to the camera and say "Don't worry. Your childhood will never end."
