That’s my plan. I hope that with Disney buying fox we can get an HD release of the OT theatrical versions finally. That’s all I want, that’s all I need. I don’t need to keep giving them my money anymore.

Theirs a fan made hd version if the original cuts. Quality is excellent

I've heard that but don't know what the titles are or where to look for them. I still watch the laserdisk ports from the 2 dvd edition in the 2000's, actually have them out ready to watch the trilogy again.

Rogue One did actually show that modern CGI can merge with the look of the originals very well, wouldn't mind seeing a lot of the original Deatstar run redone as CGI for example provided it kept to the same kind of material.

Beyond Geedo shooting first the worst extra to me has to be that new song in Jabba's palace, I mean the original was a little cheesey but did still had some scuzzy space funk to it...

...the new thing is just hidous cartoonish vegas musak...

Don't remind me! The new version assumes we want a long musical number with silly CGI characters while the original was really just a sequence to show us around Jabba's palace.

True enough, the new song ontop of being far worse calls attention to itself far more as well.

That's a problem with a lot of the extra CGI stuff in the special editions for me, looking to call attension to itself too much rather than just naturally sitting in the background.

You're probably thinking of the Despecialized version. I've never watched it but based on the footage in their YouTube video describing the process it looks good.

Yeah, and I should go watch the Ghostbusters remake, & listen to Justin Bieber's full albums before I judge.

Fuck outta here

<DisgustingHHH>

I really, really enjoyed the Ghostbusters remake.

An while Justin Bieber isn't my cup of tea, he's mad talented. You should hear his cover of Fast Car.

Seriously, motherfucker, hear it :)

You'll probably hate this but I think it's pretty great. And I literally cannot name a single one of his own songs.

I agree. Some people can’t stand Greedo shooting first, Jedi Rocks, or taking out Yub Nub and putting in Force Ghost Hayden, but to me “nooo!” is easily the worst. So out of character for the perpetually stoic Vader.
It was such a bad addition I thought it was a joke at first until I saw it.
I stand by my statement that Lucas forgot about why Star Wars was awesome.

Honestly I think the special editions were originally just a bit of an afterthought, Lucas testing out CGI before the prequels. Then when it got a negative reaction he dug his heels in and made it a point of pride that this stuff was his "vision".

Well music is different, since albums are merely collections of individual tracks that are designed to stand alone.

But should you watch the Ghostbusters remake before you talk shit on it and decide you don't like it?

Yes!

If I hear a film in the franchise is good to great I will give it a chance though. . .

Oh really? Okay then, just a few comments from critics on TLJ:

It is the best and most innovative Star Wars film to come along in a long time and you would think that this would inspire celebration in the streets among longtime fans of the franchise.

"The Last Jedi" is not a crude predictable entry to the series; Rian Johnson has delivered a luminous spark that's left the future of the franchise looking bright.

Here, [Mark] Hamill turns in his best performance, giving the character a depth and complexity that wasn't as evident in the original trilogy.

Here's the first 'Star Wars' movie since 'Empire' that you don't have to make excuses for enjoying.

The force is strong with Rian Johnson, who delivers most exciting, risky, adult and entertaining Star Wars movie since, well, you know which one.

The Last Jedi is a grand step forward, one that we can only hope will light the way for the franchise's future.

All right Petey, have fun at the theater!

Empire is better imo, Sith isn't that bad like it's reputation says but it's not great either.

Ep 5 - 9.5+
Ep 4 - 9+
Ep 6 - 8.5+
(add some context they came in the freaking 70's early 80's.. and are still watchable today just fine and they are space adventure/action for crying out loud)

Ep 8 - 8.5
Ep 7 - 8
RO - 7.5
Ep 3 - 6.5+
Ep 1 - 6+
Ep 2 - 5.5

This are kinda my rankings could concede a plus or a minus here and there but that's how I kinda rank them and the higher in score they go the harder for them to obtain that extra point it gets.. I'm a fan, they are all watchable and worth it to me.

Hmm. . . Yeah, I don't think we're quite on the same page on this one. Frankly, I think A New Hope gets a ton of nostalgia points from people who miss the fact that it's actually not an especially well-made film. A special effects marvel for its time, yes, but in other regards it's really a middling movie. It doesn't even become interesting until about an hour in.

My ratings would fall more along these lines:

Ep 1 - 6
Ep 2 - 7
Ep 3 - 8
RO - 7.5
Ep 4 - 6
Ep 5 - 8
Ep 6 - 7 or 7.5
Ep 7 - 6
Ep 8 - 7.5 or 8

Didn’t say who the Emperor was and why he was the leader until two decades later in the prequels

There’s no need to explain Snoke’s backstory. Just like there was never a need for Bobba Fetts.

Snoke was a cult like leader and dark side user who brought Kylo into his orbit and died for it.

There is no need for anything more...
