My theory...

Oscar Issac and Rey are related, and are kids to either Luke or Han. My deep theory is that Finn dies or gets beat up and it somehow awakens Oscar Isaac's "force", and he ultimately is the true "one".

Notice in the trailer, when Han says "the Jedi are real", that they not only show Fin, but also Oscar Issac. Also, Oscar Isaac fits Lukes profile as a master pilot of the rebel fleet. I think Fin is important to the plot, but that Oscar Isaac is gonna be a Jedi as well in the long run and is related to the main heroes

I don't think that Finn will be a Jedi. I reckon it's just a curve ball.

He'll get his shit broken off by Ren when they fight. Probably lose a hand, and the real Jedi protagonist, Rey, will take up the lightsaber and do enough to keep Ren at bay before they all escape.

Rey will then learn the ways of the force and all that. However, there's still a chance that Finn could be force sensitive as well, so he could still fulfill the role of a secondary Jedi protagonist.

For obvious reasons, Finn will require a purple lightsaber.

yea I agree with this. I don't think Finn is the main Jedi, I think that's what they want us to believe. I think Oscaar Isaac is the character that actually sounds more like a young Luke, given his skills as a pilot. I think Finn is in over his head and they want the audience to believe he is the main guy (I believe he will be important but not the way people think)

Where's he getting flack from and what for?

He's getting flack?

So far he seems to have the most interesting story set up, storm trooper turned rogue and all.

Or am i misinterpreting it? I guess he might have just been wearing the stormtrooper getup as a disguise á la A New Hope.

Well not him per say, just that there is a small contingent of people who have a problem with the role being played by a black guy.

It's a new character. I kind of get it when they have an issue with a classic character changing colour, but that's a new level of derpracism.

Up there with the people that didn't get upset when the mixed race girl died in hunger games, but would have if she was blonde,, like how they imagined when reading it.

Fuck them. As long as the he plays the role well, I don't care about his skin colour.

The original problem with Finn was the false idea that storm troopers were still Jango clones.

This new thing i doubt is even coming from Star Wars fans. More likely SJWs and jews masquerading as white power types to stir shit up.

Well he says, "I was raised to do one thing, but now there's nothing to fight for," or words to that effect. That implies he's career military, so he probably is an ex-Stormtrooper.

Which means he won't be able to hit a barn door at ten feet with a Blaster. And he'll get his ass kicked by Ewoks.

I think the Finn backlash is partially due to racism but mostly because he seems like a main character and all we have seen of him so far is him looking scared, sweating or running. I think Rey will end up being the main character of the trilogy but Finn will have a solid story.

I could see the series ending with average/normal people starting to feel the Force and Finn actually using it in a crucial moment. Perhaps saving Luke.

Was that Oscar Isaac being tortured in the trailer by Kylo?

Just skimmed through it but did they really need to have a line per Star Wars: Clone Wars episode :icon_lol:

Ya its excessive, but without spending more time it is the most complete with comics and books.
Rest of what I found before that was taking about canon, EU canon, and how Disney changed it without really saying what books and comics are Canon.

From me it is not racism. It's that they got the ugliest person to cast as a lead.

If it was Johnny storm or falcon I wouldn't be bitching.

The guy looks like he has down syndrome

Calling it now.:icon_twis

Luke is Ren. When he says to Vader's mask, "I will finish what you started", he's referring to Vader killing the Emperor and bringing down the Empire. Now Luke, posing as Ren, will destroy the New Order and finally put an end to those who believe in the Empire.

I think the new poster gave it away and Ren recruits the young girl to turn. I presume she's Leia's daughter? and has the force too. The poster shows an eye catching bond between the two characters weapons and there has to be a connection there.

The actor that plays Finn just severely lacks charisma or likability so far, IMO. He just seems very boring to me. If they put Michael B Jordan in there I don't think people would have a negative sentiment, necessarily.

I think the other part is that I think people were hoping that the Jedis in this film would be family of Luke/Leia. Finn being the main protagonist obviously puts a hole in that theory.

got tickets for first showing on thursday, imax was sold out though....but also got a friday morning showing in the best Imax theater in the country...boom

Imax near Lincoln Square?

Blah Blah Blah, with all this fan-boy bullshit. WATCH the movie first! I distinctly remember the same type of people were complaining about Robert Downey Jr, and even Heath Ledger! Then the movies come out and they are the greatest thing to have ever happened.

Please just wait till the movie comes out to throw in your two pennies.

that trailor gave me goosebumps especially when they showed the masked sith talking to Vader's mask. Ive always loved masked sith: Vader, Revan, Nihilus, etc.

unless he was just dressed up as a storm trooper to blend in, or that they stopped cloning after the first trilogy.

i thought there was a comment in battlefront 3 where they say that the Kamino cloning facilities were destroyed, and the replacements weren't as good as the last remaining division of clone soldiers (the 501st)

Would also be nice if they were just retconning all the shit the prequels did.

hoping for an offhand comment from Finn like

"You think...I'M a Jedi?"
Luke - "I can feel it in you"
"Thats impossible I'm a nobody! And even if so cant you just stick something in me to be sure?"
Luke - "Haha, you insult the force greatly Finn"
