I agree with some of the stuff being put out there and I'm well aware this movie wasn't perfect, but you'd be a damn liar if you say you didn't have a blast watching this movie.

I had a smile painted on my face the whole time minus the part we all know.

I cant rank it yet, but I can easily say its in my top 3. Call it my Star Wars holy trinity being ep. 4 5 7.

I didnt had a blast watching this pile of poo.

I was bored annoyed and embarrassed

saw it last night and it had some good moments, however ts is right about quite a lot. They basically just copied ideas from the other stars wars (a bigger death star, and they needed to destroy it, a character in a desert discoverers the force, etc). Also they made it really appeal to kids, with the extremely young characters and completely ridiculous coincidences and luck, they should've made it way darker and more r rated. And lasted they built up Kylo Ren as some badass, when by the end you realize hes a wanna be Vader and just complains and cries and gets his ass kicked

Some of you are old as hell and will bitch about the smallest things. This film was much better than all of the besides Empire Strikes back and A New Hope. I guess I'm just not into the whole crappy effects being held by strings. The new effects make this film much better than most of the others.

As far as high expectations going in Ep 7., you have to realize that these movies were essentially made for kids. But I do get why some guys are critical with it not being a space opera. It definitely didn't feel like a space opera, it was more of an action-comedy-drama. The movie Contact with Jodie Foster felt more of a space opera and 90% of that movie took place on Earth.

While I can agree with some of the criticisms, it reminds me of metallica. Death Magnetic is a pretty good album (coming after 3 weak to poor albums), but since it's not master of puppets/RTL/Justice good, they just say it's shit.

People hate 1-3 because it wasnt like the original trilogy, but episode 7 tried to go back to what was good about the original trilogy, and people are complaining that it's too much like them.

You're going to have the same people complaining regardless. I love watching people nit pick a sci fi movie

Watching it on Sunday, but with lowered expectations. I read James Berardirelli's review; I almost always agree with his reviews, and he calls it a mixed bag.

I have to say, making a woman the main character of the new trilogy really turns me off to the whole thing. It's like making a new Sex and the City movie with a male lead; women are allowed to have their movies, why aren't we men allowed to have ours?
The books for episodes 7-9 released in the ninties had a young woman as the lead and Han has to steal back the falcon after his new ship, jade falcon is destroyed. Sounds like he's leaning on that series a bit.

No.
People hate the prequels because it is crap.
And some will hate this pile of poo because it is A FUCKING CARBON COPY.
IPSI LITERIS.

With a small difference, we are shoehorned a women protagonist.
And we have Justin Bieber as a villain.

I'm even more stoked for the next one. People complaining don't realize you have to build up a series in the first film. The ending made it finally feel like star wars is starting again.

I really do not understand why people defend it saying that it had to please the fanbois. I am one and I am pissed that it was a remake of the original and not a very good one at that. It actually makes me appreciate ep 1-3 more because atleast Lucas tried to do something new. Hayden Christensen is almost universally hated for Anakin but Adam Driver oh so edgy, such conflict!

Imma cry and go play SW:KotOR while thanking Bioware for not blasting diarrhea at my face.
It's a remake of the original? What's the point? It would be like remaking Godfather 1. Even if someone could do it justice, there is no reason to do it.

Star Wars has become a joke. 4 movies since the original 1-3 prequels and only Revenge of the Sith was good part 1 was good apparently. The other 3 sucked(Phantom Mentance, Attack of the Clones, the Cone Wars). i am assuming this movie (while i haven't seen it) can't be better than ok but unnecessary. How do people fuck up what should be an impossible to fuck up series to continue. Today there are bigger budgets for better acting and better writing but too many people seem to think cramming a movie full of CGI is more important than dialogue or plot.

Yeah, but they could build up WITH SOMETHING NEW.

But no, Third death star.
Justin Vader
Luke Mary Sue Walker.
R2bb8
Han Obi Wan Solo

CRAP POO SHIT

Movies for broad audiences and kids ruin everything. The best movies are R rated hands down or 'racist/sexist' like the old top classic films made before the 1950's.

Only good kid movies are animated and made by disney basically. But I feel every time they try to make it so 'widely' appealing it f#cks things up. Its STAR WARS how is a kid friendly 'strong young woman' realistic or even relevant?
That entire wanting to appeal to families, including kids, ruins a lot of great tv shows or movie series. The Equalizer and The Sopranos and Godfather 3 are examples of what were once great shows/series that sucking out the necessary violence and adding soap opera plots for mass appeal just made them a shell of their former selves.

I feel where you're coming from. I think disney tried to play it safe with the first film but I expect the next ones to be even better. I really liked the evil giant sith dude

Maybe, i will probably be less angry next december, so maybe i give it a shot.

To play devils advocate a little, what were you guys expecting? Did anyone think a tiny rebellion could overthrow a galaxy spanning empire by killing a few leaders and two space stations?

As for the new death star being a bigger version of the last one, what were you expecting? Look at the evolution of battleships, lined up one after another, they look like bigger versions of the last one.

I liked the prequels as well as the remastered originals.

There was something missing. Some things missing... Cant quite place it but im going to say it has a lot to do with the force. Its barely mentioned.

Worst of all was Anakin 2.0. Ugly ass bastard with another crybaby attitude. What a badass....

Lol @ people saying it was the original all over again. Thats exactly the point you tards. Even more lol at comparing the Maul fight with the Rey fight. Maul, Qui Gon and Kenobi were some of the best lightsaber duelists in the history of the star wars universe vs a powerful but completely untrained force sensitive.

I think that was on purpose. The jedi is sort of a myth at this point of time. In the rotj theyre still sort of a mythic thing. I feel like the next films will be more jedi and force involved, hence the ending.

THE PROBLEM IS KYLO HAS BEEN A SITH FOR AGES, SHE PICKS UP THE LIGHTSABER LIKE 10 MINUTES EARLIER, SHUTS HER EYES, CHANNELS HER INNER LUKE AND THEN PROCEEDS TO WHIP HIS ASS. I REALIZE IT IS FICTION TO BEGIN WITH BUT TALK ABOUT BEING COMPLETELY STUPID

THAT WAS MY ONLY GRIPE. OTHER THAN THAT I LIKED IT.
