Star Wars Megathread

Man, don't feel bad and like what you like. Though I wouldn't call this a hijacking of the thread necessarily. I mean the thread literally starts with:

"Welcome to the Star Wars Mega Thread. Thanks to the hit show The Mandalorian, fans are getting excited again by the Star Wars universe."

Meaning a lot of us have been super unexcited since, oh somewhere around Dec. 15, 2017.

I could be wrong but I dont think a single new production takes place in the sequel era or with the characters from it. There are big reasons for that. Disney is trying hard to rebuild SW cred right now and I think it's good for everyone.

Once that's done I would not even be opposed to them expanding on some of the sequel stories (like no doubt was the original plan).

God Bless @Dragonlordxxxxx for what he does to keep us in the know on teh dog... but his opinion about the sequel counts as 1 just like mine & yours do. He didn't like Ep. 8 & I had discussions with him about some of his critiques while going easier on the MCU's shorcomings. That's besides the point... I'm just saying that he's entitled to his opinions but in no way does him saying that in the OP mean that this thread belongs to the haters.

If that's the case then Dragon should just change the title to represent that this thread is designed to bash on Star Wars & nobody who likes it should bother to come in here. Do that & I'll split. No problem.

And yet Sherdog's own thread poll says that more people like Ep 8 than didn't.

So you'd expect that you see that kind of ratio in the body of this thread here right? Well the reason you don't is because the haters went on a rabid tear & were bullying everyone who liked it out. Just a few weeks ago some timid lover of the sequels asked fooking permission to say he liked it knowing how aggressive the haters are. & one of the haters pounched on him & that was the last we saw of him.

that's why you're getting this illusion in here that the haters are more than the minority they are... the people who like it don't want to be attacked.

I'm not sure what you're saying here. There were lots of new & successful productions from 2015 - 2019. If you're singling out off shoots from the sequel, then I'd point out that they wouldn't do offshoots of a series that's currently under way. That would come later. There has however been plenty of novels, games & comics though using those characters. There are a ton of cool stories out there right now about those characters.

Want to know what Rey, Finn & Poe talked about on the Falcon after leaving Crait? There's a comic book issue that shows just that. Poe has his own comic series. The sequel has it's own series. There's novels & video games... lots of stuff.

378 (65%) voted 5 – 10 indicating Neutral to loved it.
202 (35%) voted 1 – 4 indicating they didn’t like it.
  • 73 voted 5 indicating they were neutral, so even if you take them out… you still get: 305 voted 6 – 10 indicating that they liked it to loved it, which is a whopping 100+ people more than those who didn’t like it.

I see 99 people call it "abysmal" and "terribad" and 62 said "excellent" and "great". The rest of the haters probably didn't bother with the poll.

79 people gave it the lowest abysmal & terrible rating if you combine them... not 99. If you're not even presenting proper addition then how are we supposed to take you seriously?

What you're trying to do is cherry pick your pov out of a pole that shows way more people approve. That's the debate. We're not talking about how exaggerated the haters are with their ratings... we're talking about how many like it vs. how many don't.

Because unlike you, I've been in these threads since TLJ dropped & I've seen what happens when the haters go unchecked. (refer to my post on 1485) It's rich that you haters want to turn it on me as if I'm the problem when the haters have hijacked every single thread for years now.

I'm not cherry picking. You brought up the poll. In fact if we really should look at the Net Promoter Score if we want to look at it the way actual companies would view the survey (because I'm sure Disney is fretting about these sherdog forum results). This isn't cherry picking because it's actually how these sorts of numbers are calculated commercially. I will add a link below. Net Promoter Score takes Promoters (9 & 10 ratings) minus Detractors (0-6 ratings).

Promoters - 62 = 11%
Neutral - 150 = 26%
Detractors - 368 = 63%

"Any NPS score above 0 is "good". It means that your audience is more loyal than not. Anything above 20 is considered "favourable". Bain & Co, the source of the NPS system, suggests that above 50 is excellent, and above 80 is world class."

NET PROMOTER SCORE from the Sherdog poll is -52.

(Since we're nit picking each other, the word is "poll" not "pole". If you're not even presenting proper words then how are we supposed to take you seriously?)

Even if we leave out the people who voted 5 for neutral... the majority is over 100 votes in favor of it. Even if we add the neutral people to the ones who didn't like it... you're still less.

Okay, to bring it back to Star Wars, and this is something I would actually like to hear from a fan of the new films..... If you had only ONE character to expand on, who would it be? (Fine if you pick one of the obvious ones, but one of the 'lesser' characters as well.)

Whatever this system is that you brought forward is something you cherry picked in order to try & support your agenda. The poll is clear.

Only 35% voted that they didn't like it. There's no way around that. it's a fact.
