Star Wars Megathread

Okay, to bring it back to Star Wars, and this is something I would actually like to hear from a fan of the new films..... If you had only ONE character to expand on, who would it be? (Fine if you pick one of the obvious ones, but one of the 'lesser' characters as well.)
Oh, with out a doubt I'm chopping a the bit for more info on Snoke. It's not even close.

Don't get me wrong... I understand what he is (a clone of sid) & what his roll was (to develop the 1st order & to be a test for Kylo to kill)... but I do want so much to know the tidbits behind how he was created & how he fell short of being Sid's full on apprentice. It's not necessary to understand the movie... but it's a major curiosity.

I have a feeling you're trying to trap me with something, but I have absolutely no problem with talking about stuff like this. I'd rather talk about this stuff instead of why I'm such an ass hole tbh. Thank you for your question... & I'm curious as to where you take it.

tlj sucks!!!
Too bad there's no rool against flaming... my long term nemesis. If you were to go on like this about a fighter you would be in violation of sherdog roolz... but since you do it to a movie it's somehow okay.

@Kaybee This flaming is exactly the reason that people who love the movies don't want to participate in these threads. Thank you for posting that moments ago. It feels good that I won't have to be subject to any more personal attacks just because I think differently than others.

I hated the ST, but wouldn't have an issue with them doing a Kylo at the Jedi Academy thing.

Lol, in this case it's not a trap! It's no secret I didn't love the sequels. In my own mind the "real" story ended at the end of Return of the Jedi. I count everything else as bonus material and that lets me compartmentalize a bit and actually appreciate some of the new stuff. I've mentioned before that several of the new characters were actually workable.

You had me nodding at Snoke as I kind of forgot about him. If anything he was ended as prematurely as Darth Maul who I think is universally considered the most untapped potential character from the prequels (until clone wars, and hopefully, Obi Wan).

I would go with the obvious Kylo, except for the twist I definitely think General Hux has to be a huge part of it. Like the two of them shooting up the ranks parallel to each other and how that whole frenemy relationship unfolded.

I dont agree with your opinion of star wars sequel, I think they suck

and flaming a movie? so what you're saying is if it's a movie you like and one I don't, I'm not allowed to voice my opinion because you might get offended by my opinion?

I wouldn't mind seeing how or why the Empire became the First Order either.

It's not like it's an unreasonable request. He was obviously hinted in TFA to be a major character and then was unceremoniously discarded because of the people at disney not thinking ahead. he could have been a very interesting character a bit more fleshed out. maybe we'll get snoke more fleshed out in another series like they did Maul. At least Maul we were given a brief glimpse of what he was (awesome) but his death didn't feel like a discardment of his character at the time. We all thought he would be a cool character to know more about, luckily we got some fleshing out in TCW series. Hopefully we get some of that with Snoke.

Hux is a good choice. Did he get placed in the First Order to be a mole, or was he converted? Lots they could go with.

Maz is another that had potential.

None of the new characters interest me in particular but i would like to see the sequence of events that led to Maz Kanata acquiring the Skywalker lightsaber.

There's some EU lore where Vader took it and Luke's hand out of the scrap heap in Bespin (over a few dead bodies I might add) leading to a Luke clone, speed grown and tutored by an insane clone of another Jedi....

Trust me the story is worth it.

I'm guessing something similar for Maz....amid her passionate debauched romance with Chewbacca.

its just a platform to them. By contrast, you can tell that Filoni/Favereau actually like star wars.

Filoni was literally one of George's right hand men. Favereau grew up with a passion for Star Wars the same as other people in our age group. To be at the theater on an opening night during the OT was almost a religious experience that no rerelease or sequel trilogy opener could ever duplicate.

KK on the other hand is a paper pusher more interested in breaking the glass ceiling of Hollywood and creating a legacy for herself. It was incredibly short sighted of GL to trust her with continuing his vision.

All anyone can do now is sit back and see what happens, and hope she doesn't completely fuck up what F&F started. Either way I have Marvel to fall back on. They get silly with the woke bullshit too, but at least the stories are better quality since they don't ignore what came before. Imagine that. Using your entire catalog of stories to try and give the fans something they might actually like?

I kind of zoned out from Star Wars after TFA, but this channel popped up on YouTube - uploaded a bunch of VHS rips of different pop culture stuff, including some SW docs from the prequel era. I actually got a bit nostalgic.

For whatever its worth, prequels did strive for something different. Had whole new designs, locations, creatures, sound effects, music. You add in all the toys, books and video games - for as flawed as those flicks were - it was a fun time. True escapism.

Anyways, just felt compelled to post this.
