Kept trying can't power through TOS. Wife works at lunch cal library though and since I had an accident at work and I'm bedridden I'm giving the destiny series a go. Excited and a bit confused so far

What are some books to get that are pre-destiny that are good

Here is a trek lit chart that shows the order of most of the books and where they fit. Destiny is the best launch point, and it really revived the book series. The early 2000s books were very hit and miss. The Immortal coil was a great book that focuses on Data and his creation, and the author just recently came out with a great sequel, that show how Data is brought back.

The first book is a little slow, just because there is so much info and backstory they are trying to put in. The whole Trilogy is nothing short of epic.

The DS9 doc "What we left behind" is just about to hit $400k. Its last current stretch goal at 500k, is written in Cardassian and says" Doug Drexler will recreate ships and special effects" Doug Drexler is a Makeup and VFX legend, who also designed the NX-01. In an interview today, Adam Nimoy says CBS has approved them to redo special effects for some episodes. This could be a good stepping stone, to getting DS9 onto blu ray.

They keep adding cool perks, so consider donating to the project. It is fully funded, but the more money, the more cool stuff they can add.

I check the indiegogo every few days and just saw that I missed out on an auto'd dvd set that I would have jumped on if I had seen it in time.

Shit.

OK Trekkies, we’ve got a bit of an update for you.

“Star Trek Discovery” should now premiere “late summer/early fall,” CBS boss Leslie Moonves said Monday during his time on stage at the 2017 Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Conference.

“Probably,” he added.

I always just wanna smack Moonves whenever he talks trek. He bashed Trek for years, and was a big reason Enterprise was canceled so early. I took every other network and major streaming provider, trying to buy the rights or co-produce new trek, that he finally is giving it attention. His quote about there are some good trek series and some terrible trek series, but for some reason they all do amazing on Netflix. It really has taken all these year and Netflix for them to realize they have a dedicated fanbase?!?

We're pleased to finally share that the team has officially been in talks with CBS Television Studios to gain access to archival masters and original film elements from the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine series. It may be a small step, but it's a very exciting one -- HOWEVER, in order to even have the financial option to pursue this, we need YOUR HELP to reach our final stretch goals! Maybe CBS will rescan the entire series, and then see how the docs HD process goes. We might get DS9 blu Rays after all!

Hmm. I think someone at CBS may analyze the funding spike after this announcement. Probably gotta contribute

I went to see Paul Allens Star Trek collection, and the 50th anniversary display he's put together at his MPOP Muesum. Pretty cool seeing the original bridge and all the film ship models
