I'm watching TOS on Netflix, s2 now. I assume it's a remaster since some of the effects look super dated, yet others almost modern.

I remember TNG from endless syndication though, so it'll be interesting to see where they've retouched things.

The difference with TNG is that they used the original film material that was shot in super high quality despite the fact that TVs were not equipped to display such definition levels at the time.

Really? Because the look Data gave Barclay right before he left (when asking him to watch Spot) was sort of like "Please be careful. I'm trusting you."
 
I just finished In The Pale Moonlight in DS9. Have heard for a long time that it could possibly be one of the best star trek episodes of all time.

I certainly liked the episode, but I do not see all the hype about it being GOAT.

Also, I got another episode with "maximum warp." They seem to be throwing it out a little more frequently now. I've heard it more in Season 7 alone than in the first 6 seasons combined. :eek:


Also, "Lower Decks" was a great episode. The blonde girl (Worf's protege - Bajoran girl) looked like she had the most amazing ass. Damn.

It was just a good episode of TV. It showed the trek actors outside of there sci fi element, and let them shine as actors.

I miss the old 26 episode seasons. There are gems like this throughout the series, Like Brother's from TNG

I think you're thinking of the episode taking place in the 50s. I am referring to a different episode.

Yup your totally right. I was thinking of far beyond the stars. Had a pot brownie and my mind went into pained emotional Sisko mode. Pale moonlight is one of the best trek episodes, because it is so un trek. Sisko is disturbed, what this war has done to him, and the lengths that he will go to stop it.

Did you just watch that episode, or did you watch all the episodes leading up to it and then watch it? Because much of its impact is the context. And it probably is the greatest Star Trek episode ever made.
 
I know Picard's whole life is commanding a starship and he doesn't want to lose that, but am I the only one who found it kind of awkward and painful to see him still a Captain in Nemesis, when they were offering him the rank of Admiral in Season 1 of TNG? That's like two decades without accepting a promotion or being given any additional power within starfleet.

I know he's refused several times, but dammit, why can't they just make him an Admiral and still let him command the Enterprise? It just seems wrong for him to only be Captain after so many years and only have the powers of a Captain. He's literally the most exemplary Captain ever. I don't understand why starfleet couldn't work something out. Picard should be a goddamned Fleet Admiral, but with his own ship.

They kinda stopped using the rank, but basically Picard has become a Commodore, aka fleet admiral. After Generations when the ship was destroyed, he spent time where he considered becoming an admiral or ambassador, and even leaving star fleet. He was messed up at the time from dealing with the borg, losing the D, and his brother and nephew being killed. Also his many friends who have been or are admirals, tell him to stay in command of a ship
. n the book series Picard is now around 80 years old and has a young son and has married Beverly Crusher

I have watched every episode up until it in order. I have been going through the whole series.

I am not saying it is a bad episode by any means, but it didnt hit me as much as an episode like "The Visitor"

I didn't like The Visitor that much. I don't know why. It just wasn't really my thing.

Apparently as of the new year BBC America now has the rights to Voyager, and have been airing 12+ hour blocks of it.
