How do you rank TNG vs DS9 vs VOY?

DS9 is my favorite trek. It's the most serialized, darker, and consistently strongest series. The high peaks of TNG cannot be beaten, but there are way more lows and uneven spots that brings the entire show's average down. Voyager seems to function on a parallel wavelength as TNG, but at a lower level all the way through.

ships blowed up good in ds9. Lita has a nice rack. ds9 rocked!

Yeah, cuz kirk kissing uhura wasn't progressive at all. Or having a Japanese man in the cast. Or having a black captain, or a woman captain. Damn, these SJW's for suddenly making a 50 year old franchise start caring about diversity.

That's my point, the show has always been progressive. My point is what social norms are left to challenge in 2017?

Expect transgender Muslim crew members, polyamory relationships, and a NAMBLA planet. If there's a white male crew member expect him to have his privilege checked about as often as Worf got beat down in TNG.

You do know that they've covered polyamory relationship, non-gendered species, and as many other non-normal shit as they could get away with. They were trying to feature openly gay characters since the very beginning of TNG and the networks shut them down.

The only thing that would annoy me is having any human be extremely religious. Trek has made it very clear that humanity has evolved beyond religion. To suddenly have a earth human going to church or praying to any god would be non canonical

There were a couple mentions of God in TOS. I think they will be used to justify Muslims in Discovery. You just know they'll have at least one after all that's been reported.

I am firmly against that for the reasons you outlined.

As @sverre054 already stated, the D was built at a time of peace. Romulans were silent for decades. Klingons at peace for decades. The D was an exploration ship - and it is a big galaxy.

Besides all of that, you also have to consider the fact that Starfleet has never been comfortable seeing itself as a military force. Until the Defiant they hadn't ever built a dedicated warship before.

All Starfleet ships are going to be punching way below the Federation's weight class when it comes to space combat because unlike the Klingon or Romulan or Cardassian ships, the combat capabilities are always secondary during the design process. We see that change with the Enterprise E and much earlier in the Kelvin timeline, though.

For the Love of Spock is on Netflix and worth a watch.

TOO BAD THE NEXT TREK ISNT*

*in the US & Canada that is.

Finally, after 6 seasons, I've finally come upon an episode where Picard orders Maximum Warp!

Shit just got real.

Bajor, trying to get DS9 up ad running, Maquis, Cardassians, Worm Hole, and the prophets. Its still really good, Season 3 n is just a different kind of trek. I just rewatched DS9 for the 50th time, and it was still incredible.

Do you know what's stronger between Duranium and Tritanium?

I read that Tritanium is supposed to be something like 21.4 times harder than diamond. But what about the other one. Data said his skull was part Duranium.

What about the ablative armor? What's that made out of?

All I know is that I'm fairly sure in Star Trek the strongest substance is neutronium. I only ever recall it being referred to on two occasions. Once in TOS as the material that the Doomsday Machine was constructed out of. The second being an episode of DS9, where the crew of the Defiant team up with the Dominion to wipe out a group of renegade Jem'hedar who had set up some base with an Iconian teleporter gate. It was the first appearance of Wayun and I remember when O'Brien or Worf asked why they couldn't just destroy the base from orbit, Wayun said something about it being constructed out of solid neutronium and that a even quantum torpedo wouldn't destroy it.

Yeah Star Fleet is the exploration branch of the Federation. It has been forced to take on much more military responsibilities, but they have always struggled to balance to how heavily armed the ships are.

I see. I recall Neutronium being mentioned in TNG: "Relics" (the Dyson Sphere was made out of it) and Worf said their weapons would have no effect.

I wonder what Transphasic Torpedoes would do to it?

I just ordered the Destiny Trilogy. Looking forward to it.

Has anyone read the Section 31 Novels? Are they any good? I saw the TNG one ("Rogue") at the bookstore and it looked interesting. I was thinking about picking it up once I get done with the Destiny books.

@Adamant Personally I would not start with Destiny before you've seen DS9 due to the timeline.

Well at least I'll have them when it's time. It's only taken me about a month to blow through most of TNG. DS9 will probably be similar.

Yeah good call. Destiny is amazing, but it takes place after the the events of Nemesis.

The section 31 books are ok, but more of a spy thriller, than a typical star trek or sci fi book. The new ones by David Mack are intresting, but you also probably would want to read destiny first.

On Star Trek: Discovery, the new lead actress Sonequa Martin-Green, will play the character of Lt. Cmdr. Rainsford

I'd imagine voyager too. Once I finish reading this dwarf series I may start on Destiny. I
Yeah its a awesome series because it bring you up to date on TNG, DS9, VOY crews and what's happened to them.
