Not a fan of the ship design. Maybe I'll grow to like it. Although I never grew to like voyagers design.

Ship looks goofy as hell. Hope this isn't preTNG.

Still checking it out. If it's a prequel or shoehorned in the timeline series, I won't be as interested.

Finally was able to watch the Discovery teaser after getting region cock blocked a few times. I definitely think there's plausibility to the theories that maybe this is about the federation after the Klingons have joined. I think the ship has sort of Klingon influence to its design, though I'd say the bottom looks more like a the old Klingon battle cruiser design than a bird of prey. Also, I definitively heard the cloaking sound at the very end. So we'll see, maybe this show will have a Klingon as captain. Maybe it will take place like 50 years after voyager and will feature Worf's grandson (or granddaughter because star trek's all about the pandering) or something pursuing a career in star fleet. I could maybe dig that.

I get the hope for a post-Voyager series. But there is just too much evidence pointing to a pre-TOS series:

- registration number
- ship appears to have Constitution class phasers
- style of windows appears to be like Constitution class
- bussard collectors remind me of them too

So if this is actually pre-TOS, it might very well play around the time of Axanar (or at least later seasons). And that would explain the cloaking device sound, too.

Interview with Heather Kadin.

TM: For the promo materials that we’ve been seeing, as the new trailer was released today, is that stuff the final versions?

Kadin: NO! *laughs* I was surprised Bryan didn’t say that, actually. I mean, we had three weeks to throw that together. We wanted to show fans…we’re super-excited by the score that this amazing composer, Fil Eisner, threw together as an audition and he did an incredible job. The concepts of the ship are totally what we’re going for and they’ll be honed up until, I think, the day we deliver.

Already leaning towards not paying for the CBS thing as I already have cable, that I barely watch, and Netflix.. If the show is indeed some sort of prequel series I definitely won't be paying for the CBS thing. Only reason I have cable is for HBO.

CBS is really sticking it to the U.S. with all this and unfortunately it'll be the exclusive shows "fault" if the service bombs.

Continuing the VOY watch; just watched 'Repression' and one of the funnier moments on the show happened after Chakotay came out of his coma and took over the ship. As he and his 'Awakened' Maquis storm the bridge, Harry Kim is surprised to see him and asks him how he's feeling, Chakotay says something along the lines of feeling better, and phasors Kim. Haha, suck it Kim.

Yeh the books explore that. Romulans have split into 2 factions, one of which supports the federation, the other has formed a new power bloc along with several other powers, The Typhon pact. The "Typhon Pact" (β), after which the series is named, is an alliance of races formed in opposition to the Federation - specifically the Romulan Star Empire, the Breen Confederacy, the Tholian Assembly, the Gorn Hegemony, the Tzenkethi, and the Holy Order of the Kinshaya (β) - that is introduced in 2009'sA Singular Destiny, and forms part of an ongoing "metastory" involving the characters of the various 24th century novel series.

The Federation extended the khitomer accords to several other groups and forms their own alliance. Following the formation of the Typhon Pact, the Federation and Klingon Empire invited the Imperial Romulan State, Cardassian Union, Ferengi Alliance and Talarian Republic to join in an expansion of the Accords to establish a strong counter-alliance to the Pact. EmpressDonatra of the Imperial Romulan State and FerengiGrand NagusRom immediately accepted the invitation.

Its basically a giant galactic cold war, and has brought some new excitement and challenges to the post Nemesis time line. Cold be a cool element of a new series.

What is happening with the Dominion and the Jem Jadar, plus all the races Voyager comes into contact with?

Just watched another early TNG episode, Haven. Almost fell off the Couch when I saw that the guy Deanna was supposed to marry was the creep from Prison Break!

im hoping this show is as awesome as axanar an ill be sure to join you guys.

that being said, the animation looks kinda crap. You think they'd go hard on the CGI instead looking like it has a 14$ budget

As Heather Kadin said, this is far from the final product and just something they put together in a couple weeks.

Dominion has retreated back to the Gamma quadrant, and was really devastated by the war. The Jem Hadar have some freedom post war but are still part of the Dominion. There was actually a Jem Hadar representative who lived on DS9 for some time. Sisco comes back years after being in the wormhole, and starts a new family and lives on Bajor. Prophets tell him his family will die if he stays with them, so he abandons them, and rejoins starfleet. He is currently Captain of a Galaxy Class ship. Kira becomes a star fleet captain and runs DS9 after the war and Sisco disappearing. Years later she becomes a Vedek, and after a few years is sucked into the wormhole by the prophets. Ro Laren from TNG, rejoins star fleet after the War, and Bajor formally joins the Federation. The Maquis were largely destroyed, but the survivors were offered amnesty. Laren becomes Chief of Security of the station, since Odo leaves to help his people. She becomes Captain of DS9 when Kira becomes a Vedek. DS9 is destroyed at some point, and after a few years they build a new Star Fleet built DS9.

Star Fleet is just starting to re-explore the Delta quadrant, after the development of Slipstream ships.

If your interested in catching up with the Trek Universe post Nemesis, Read the Destiny Trilogy by David Mack. It will fill you in on everything.

ya know i really hope to see Federation attack fighter and marines in this one. ive been doing my ship reading...

Something tells me this series will feature the Klingon war. Which would make the noise about Axanar 100% understandable.

Do you mean in the one where they were attacked by the Vidians and he brought over the baby with him? I'm not sure that he's any less "real" than the one that died.

Yeah, this always struck me as odd too.

Did they make any attempt to recover his body? Have some sort of memorial service for him? It seems like they just conveniently ignored the fact that it ever happened and left his body to drift unceremoniously in the cold vacuum of space.
