Aug 10th we should be getting some new series info. Fuller announced that at the CBS Star Trek NYC event, he will be releasing some big spoilers for the new series. This event is the first to be put on by CBS and is to celebrate Star Treks 50th anniversary. I wouldn't be surprised if we get a captain or crew announcement at this event. The show is suppose to start filming in September.

They really have a tight schedule. But I like two things:

1) They have not committed on a specific date yet.

2) They don't have to.

They are deservedly getting bashed for the trailer's low quality (it was just a teaser) but they need sufficient time for post production for the series.

I hope they bring in Matthew McConaughey and Woody then.

And really they should do this on a premium movie channel, so we all get full one hour episode or put it on Netlfix.

Did Generations suck that bad? I never got into it, even though Quantum Leap was one of my favorite shows ever. Why has it taken this long? I guess I should read through this thread first, huh.

Its on CBS all access(CBS new streaming service), and Netflix outside NA. They have stated that since they are on all access they will not be restrained by network censorship. They stated that it will be more like a Netflix or HBO , and can really do what they want.

I haven't seen it but from what I read the last 2 seasons are pretty good

Are you referring to Enterprise? I assume so since Scott Bakula is the star of Enterprise and Quantum Leap.

Enterprise is a show, that was initially wasn't loved. It was on a crappy network, and everyone was generally experiencing star trek fatigue, due to back to back series. It also started off slow compared to the other series. It has experienced a resurgence though mainly due to Netflix. Speaking for myself, I didn't love it when it first came out and lost interest during the first season. I did give it another chance on netflix, and binge watched the whole series in a few weeks. It really picks up by the end of season 1 and they really had some great stories. The series also looked great, and was packed with star trek lore from the other series and movies. I also like Bakula as Captain Archer. He was flawed, but was also focused on achieving his goal, not matter what the cost.

Give it a chance, just remember season one start off slow, but it does have some important story lines, so power through it, and then you will get sucked in by season 2 and the pace really picks up.

Bryan Fuller indirectly confirms DSC to play before TOS

Speaking to Ain’t It Cool News, showrunner Bryan Fuller revealed there was an important clue in the teaser released during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. “There’s a big clue in the number of the ship that indicates when we’re set,” Fuller said.

Yeah the Star Trek books have been killing it the past few years. The destiny trilogy is one of the best sci fi books, let alone Star Trek books. I could see them lifting some events from book series. They actually just added one of the Trek book authors to the new series as a writer.

I never really followed the ST extended universe. Got some book recommendations?

Wrong.... its NCC 1031. 10/31. Its a Halloween based ship. All episodes take place in the mirror universe on Halloween. :D

There are ships that go aginst the numbering system, so it isn't always accurate, but it makes the most sense. Other rumors are it is based on the space shuttle discovery, which had the same military craft number, and all ships could share that number. Also that the ship could have something to do with Section 31.

It depends which ships and crews you want to follow. TOS and TNG have the most books, but the there series have there fair share. There is even a few original new book series like Star Trek seekers which is good.

I think the Destiny trilogy is the best start off point for someone looking to get into the books. It follows several ships and gives a great overview of everything that has happened since the TV show ended, but has story elements from all over star trek. After that you can read the Typhon pact, and The Fall mini series; Those all are somewhat related but can also be read on there own, but please start with the destiny series. It is considered the relaunch point for ST novels.

She's actually awesome in this series. She became so liked from destiny they are actually making a book series following her and her new crew on the USS Aventine.

Never watched Star Trek until it was put on Netflix and I love it (the original Star Trek). Eventually I'll watch the other series and then by the time I'm done this will probably be out.

Yeah Star Trek fandom has greatly grown the past few years due to people discovering it on Netflix. TOS and TNG are usually in the top 10 for streamed series every month, with the other trek series usually in the top 20. People love binge watching and Trek has nearly 800 episodes for them to view. Only 5 months until the new series premieres, so get watching!
