So this happens after The Cage?
Yeah it should be near that time.Wouldn't surprise me at all to see the USS Enterprise1701 show up at some point. People forget that That Captain Pike commanded the Enterprise for years before Kirk took over.

Im hoping for a good Gorn story arc. Gorn never really got along with the Federation, but they HATE the Klingons. As long as they can come up with a cool modern look. Not sure of modern makeup or cgi would be the way to go

Spock's mom? Wonder if that means Winona Ryder will be back. I know she's from the jj films, but that's a character that shouldn't have been altered via time-travel shenanigans, plus Ryder was aged up with makeup for her bit in the '09 reboot and still looks good at 44:

With the positive buzz from Stranger Things I'd be surprised if they didn't try and get her to reprise the role.

janeway grew on me too - her little woman power episodes with b'ellana were really annoying in the first season or 2 but now that i'm in season 6, i prefer her over Sisko and 2nd behind the GOAT Picard

the Doctor and Tuvoc are easily my 2 favorite characters on Voyager

Tuvoc is just so god damned condescending to everyone

Tuvoc is GOAT on voyager

I'm excited they are doing a female captain. I just hope they do it right

1) hell yeah!
2) indifferent
3) indifferent
4) don't care about the choice, just hate it being some sort of announcement or ploy.
5) eh shit.
6) okay, so a character that's an engineer that likes to play dom jot, tinker, cook, or whatever that happens to be gay? Or a gay character? This announcement is troubling and seems more tasteful just letting us find out who the characters are once the show is on, organically.
7) meh.
8) anticpation is waning.

Reeks of the current diversity shoe horn being used, and that's the weird part..... Star Trek has always been diverse. Why they are feeling the need to push diversity as an announcement beats me. I mean, is water wet?

They did appear in Enterprise. Can't find a good picture but they did look... Modern.

As with many things Enterprise related though, I thought they lost the magic.

Yeah it was 8n the mirror universe episode. Ironically I just watched it yesterday as I am reqstchibg ENT and almost through season 4. They were trying for a mix of TOS gorn with early 2000s cgi and sadly just couldn't pull it off.

Damn that's some serious pandering right there, are they going to have a transsexual introduced in the second season?
Already happened on TNG. Riker of course tried to bone it and cause a intergalactic incident.

Really wondering when we find out more, especially about the cast. It probably will not be at the September NYC con:

Fuller said we would get our next big update in early October. Filming is suss pose to begin at the end of September so it wouldn't surprise to start hearing casting leaks soon.

A bunch of behind the scenes trek prople on Facebook have been saying that they are hiring like crazy right now, but alot of star trek vets are getting rejected for jobs, claiming they are being told they want some new fresh talent, and that they are going for a new element for star trek.

I'm just catching up on this and what the hell is going on

someone give me cliffs

I got it takes 10 years before the original series? Not sure how I feel bout this or if we will see characters from that time ... recast obviously

And it focuses on some event they mentioned in the show and never explored? What event is that?

Discovery ... not sure how I feel about the name

And this will stick with the set TV universe and not the rebooted movie-verse, right? Cause fuck that verse

It is in the prime timeline(TV timeline).

It will star a female Lt.Commader, and feature a 7 person main cast.

Lot more alien crew members.

Will take place roughly 10 years before TOS, and will take place during the Klingon war.

Make up and the ship designs will be updated and reimaged to todays standards and technology.

13 Episode first season, that will all follow the main story.

Show starts filming in late September, and will premiere in January on CBS all access.
