Squats help bench press #s?

the way the body functions, it will only allow the upper body to grow to a determined size then muscle growth halts until the lower body can catch up. If not people would grow to large and fall over. Squats are the best way to remedy this!!

Oh my hell. Look everyone wants to say, it increases test or GH etc. Short period elevation doesn't equate to shit. Not only that. let me give you a example. If I take 500mg of test a week or anyone for that matter, it doesn't mean if I do squats my arms will get bigger because of all that test lol, water retention maybe. Recruiting more motor units? Sure. But your upper body grows from hypertrophy, not squats. Oly lifting is another example.

I think the point illustrated by KW wasn't that your arms automatically get bigger, but the increased hormone levels from a full body workouts don't go away when you do pushing workouts after. You gain recovery benefit from higher testosterone.

And my point was as my studies pointed out that temporary higher test or GH levels don't matter. Add consistent levels like AAS sure it matters. Drops in the bucket, are just that.

It also helps you to keep your body core tight. Lowering the weight with your lats will also give you some added pounds. That and keeping your shoulder blades close together...it keeps you tight and shortens your stroke. I havent benched in sometime (surgery) but when I was into it I would also focus on bringing the weight down to my xiphoid process and then press up until the bar was right over my nipple line. Breathing is also real important.

I heard somewhere that doing squats helps your bench press numbers. Or rather that working out the entire body increases how fast you build muscle by "evening it out". I'm not sure if this is true, can anybody clarify or am I just off my rocker :icon_neut

Competitive bench specialists almost never do squats, unless they want to compete in regular powerlifting competitions down the line.

Squats are great, but don't expect them to increase your bench. Performing them is taking away from a bench or bench assistance workout that a bench specialist could be doing.

Yeah, you are right on about this. Performing a workout is not like a shot of testosterone, in any shape or form.

Name one world record bench prssser, past or present who does does not squat

jim wendler, from elitefts, and im paraphrasing

"dave tate and i sat down and found the similarities between the strongest people in the world. 1) they bench, squat and deadlift 2) their attitude 3) they trained consistently for a long period of time"

No matter who does what numbers etc. The raise in hormone levels is not anything worth even mentioning. Do most big benchers have a big squat and vice versa? Sure, and they should. DOesnt' mean it had anything to do with test or gh levels.
