Squats help bench press #s?

Shit. I was going to say, "Show me a big squatter who doesn't bench big."
:D

But if you bench big that doesnt translate into squatting.

In my opinion the TS'er doenst need to even squat heavy. It would probally be best if he started out just squatting the bar for a few workouts...aim for something like 40 to 50 reps with just the bar for a few workouts. That way your body will learn the technique of squatting, all the way down. And also get used to having weight on the back (or up front). Add weight little by little and dont worry about what the next guy is squatting...becuase usually they are only doing quarter squats anyhow. At least set the bench there and make sure you are getting to 90 degrees or more.

An Olympic Lifter who coached out in Cali came through my gym one day. I was benching and he gave me some tips.

He specifically said: "If you want to increase your bench: squat."

This guy was the real deal...so...

Great, and his reasoning was "bro science" huh.
