Crime Spain erupts into violent anti-migrant protests after attack on senior

Poor people are often stupid and prone to populism.
It's easy to criticize the rich, but do you have the courage to criticize the poor?

True, anti-immigrant, right-wing populism is very popular among the lowly educated here in the US.

Despite this, it's the orchestrators of the populism that are to blame, not the poor themselves.

Love the paternalistic interpretation. "poor people are just too dumb to be responsible for anything". they're basically animals in your view.

Not familiar with wtf Canada's "wage subsidies" work so I'm not gonna comment on that.

The only thing I'll say is that if immigrants are the cause of every ailment Canada has, then surely the party/movement that fixes these extremely obvious problems will come in and sweep the elections. After all, Canada is a modern democracy, not some authoritarian shithole that cancels elections or bans political parties.

But earlier this year, the Liberals won again.

No wonder right wingers hate democracy so much.
Well that is almost what happened, one of the Liberals campaign platforms was to fix the immigration system, where they admitted we are bringing in too many any we need to get things under control. So they stole votes from the Conservatives who have been raising the issue for years.

The media has demonized the Conservatives as racist and far right for this for years, so when the Liberals do a 180 and start supporting this, Liberal voters who are smart enough to see how bad immigration went back to the Liberals.

Before Trudeau stepped down and was replaced with Carney the Liberals were absolutely tanking in the polls. All of the Trudeau policies were deeply unpopular so when Carney ran he was able to steal much of the Conservative support back by largely running on all the conservative policies, policies that his party and the state funded media demonized for years.

After the election Carney has broken all of these election promises of conservative policies and continued down the same road Trudeau had paved.

Despite running on controlled immigration this year we have already brought in more people in that 2024 in the first quarter. Similarly to brexit Canadians already voted to deal with the immigration crisis but were betrayed by the government virtually on day one.

"Poor people are often misled by power-hungry elites. This is far less likely to happen if leaders are selected from their own ranks."
so there's no sociopathic power hungry manipulative people in the ranks of the poor that are precisely those that would fight to be leaders?

again with the paternalistic view of the poor. surely those people that are, in your view like animals, will be able to reach the right decision.

this is the crux of the matter for all you so called progressives. you don't hate power, you just hate you don't have it for yourselves.

Yep they believe that no one but them should have the power, because "they know what's best for everyone".

And 'what's best for everyone' happens to also line their pockets. What a convenient set up!

Another fascist writing words just to write them, thus avoiding the argument at hand.
Yes, we’ve already established that I’m a fascist - I believe men from Iraq and Syria should have to show the same documentation as everyone else when entering Europe.

You don’t need to keep saying it.

That's fine and that's perfect evidence that when a migrant population becomes too costly, governments will take steps to mitigate it.

In the paranoid, right-wing mind, no governments anywhere ever do anything to stop migrant flows.

That tells you how much of a mistake it was for Sweden to have such a liberal migration policy. Now they're doing a complete 180.

Have trouble understanding what "far less likely" means? It doesn't mean "impossible."

Representatives that are easily recalled make the ideal leaders.

this is the crux of the matter for all you so called progressives. you don't hate power, you just hate you don't have it for yourselves.

The crux of the matter for you rightists is that common people are too stupid and irresponsible and therefore should be ruled by the most powerful.

Monarchs, landowners, the educated elite, industrialists, etc. It doesn't matter the era, your deep disdain for common people leads to disdain for democracy

And power isn't something to love or hate, it's something that exists and is controlled by certain groups. Rightists want to concentrate it among the powerful, leftists among the least so. Been this way since 1789.

so it's someone at the whim of the current mob? that's a completely unstable, unworkable system.

it looks like you wanna concentrate it at the hands of the leftie elites, definitely not the poor. that's a batshit statement, that you want to concentrate power among the less powerful, that is easily undermined by the history of every leftist government ever, that immediately formed itself into an elite and the second generation was already made up of princelings and sycophants.

Listen, if you're some college kid who's just regurgitating marxist theory, fine.
but if you're over 30 and say shit like this, you're seriously a fucking clown.

Yeah, that's what rightists have been saying since 1789.

Nah, not a Leninist. Not a fan of the authoritarian left and of forcefully tearing down the system for a new one.

Ideally, a fully representative democracy made up of worker's councils but within the current system, Corbyn, Varoufakis, Sanders, Lula are more my type. Have government be responsive to common people and work to distribute wealth downwards.

And before you start criticizing their failures, I guarantee they're about 1,000 times more honorable and ethical than whatever fascist you follow.

The result might be the same but the causes are vastly different. One is made up and stupid (one-world government, white elites that... somehow hate white people), while the other is real and has centuries of history and evidence (the nature of capitalism).

If you want to change this, identifying the real cause is important.

Lol.

Really impressive Privileged Third World Guy explanation here. It's the damn uneducated people who are too stupid to "hold the rich accountable" and lend themselves to easy distractions that are to blame, not the ruling class themselves.

And of course, when working-class movements like the ones that brought Lula and Evo to power arirse, they're always corrupt, dumb, nearsighted, populist, dangerous, etc.
Look, the point is that, where it's easier for some populist leader to be elected, in Switzerland or in Brazil? So, why do you want Europe to be more like Brazil? And who is behind the mass immigration of poor people to Europe? The rich, who want cheap labor.

Reading a few pages and the only thing you come to realise is that right wingers have such a hard life. The whole world is against them apparently. There is a global cabal fixed on destroying their lives and they have a strangle hold on every institution from media to government to even the internet. Such a hard life for such strong people. I feel for them.

Love the paternalistic interpretation. "poor people are just too dumb to be responsible for anything". they're basically animals in your view.

Then this gem came. The person that uses the same logic for everyone non white in every thread. Yet can’t grasp that other people might view his poor ass that way even though he is white. Lol

Brazil is mammoth country so comparing it to Switzerland is silly. Let's compare it to... the US. Trump is about a million times more populist than Lula, who was a lifelong labor leader and involved in social movements for decades.

And this isn't even getting into the fact that "populist" has a far more positive image in the US than in Latin America. Bernie Sanders is the most admired politician in the US and he's described as a populist both by the right and the left.

And there's no one person or group "behind" immigration to Europe. It's the same economic, social, and political forces that drive migration anywhere. It's the same process that has 5 million poor Venezuelans migrating to Colombia, Peru, Brazil, etc., and working as taxi drivers, delivery drivers, home aides, etc.

I like Corbyn. probably the most decent man to ever run for anything in politics in the last 20 years.

I wouldn't be talking about ethics as you essentially militate for your corporate overlords.

Leftists are so pathetic it's not even funny.

LMAO.

A lion does not lose sleep over the opinions of kebabs.

Yet you responded

It stings to know that elitism can be interracial for you doesn’t it

It is the reason you hide the fact that you are Bulgarian but spout white pride because even though you are European and think you are superior to the outsiders, within Europe you are viewed as in the same vein as the outsiders you despise.

The day all the people you hate get kicked out is the day you become the hated. Surely some self preservation of yourself should be in store no?

Since you are Bulgarian and a self admitted stupid one at that..

The moderate Grass and the radical Snake - Fire with Fire

The one thing I noticed with Muslims and their so-called fight against the bad and racist Westerners is that they love to fight fire with fire. Muslims always find something they do not like in the West, especially those who live in the West, and they see racism and xenophobia in almost everything that somehow limits them or does not benefit them. These are things that have been normal in those countries not only for years but for decades and centuries. Like the cross hanging in schools, the availability of food that is not halal, church bells, the way people act and dress, and so on.

They are also extremely sensitive to any kind of prejudice, even when it is not actually a prejudice but rather a description of the situation. However, when they fight back, they often do so with their own prejudices. This is a phenomenon I have experienced many times. For example, in the German-speaking area it is very common for Muslims to say things like the following about the natives. Locals love their dogs more than their children. They are all greedy. They have no soul, no empathy, no love in them. They are dirty and no one washes themselves properly. And so on.

And when you confront them with this, they are not ashamed. No, for them this is the truth, and therefore they believe they can use it as an argument. They do not see at all that this is basically the same thing right-wingers say about Muslims. And do you know why? Because they believe they are right, while the right-wingers are just hateful.

This is very dangerous when someone believes they alone hold the truth, and all others are wrong and full of hate. And again, this is not a marginal phenomenon. This applies to the majority of Muslims living in the West. Even those who are integrated and have non-Muslim friends still often think the same way about them.
