Spacetime

Also the jab looks pretty week not a lot anything inside of it.
.

You can't at one hand critize me for being tense, and then when I relax that it's weak and not a lot inside it.. Shadow boxing is not supposed to be hard punches.

Oh and I'll defend that one on technical grounds till the cows come home.

also once again you got telegraphs, twitchographs. .

Nah, I am trying to focus and channel my energy in an isolated jab trial to get the technique down right. THEN I focus on implementing it in sparring.

seems unrealistic that you will have a static moment of just standing .

If I can do it still, I can do it in motion from any position. This was first hand tip by sherdogger here on perfecting a proper jab.

There are other ways to have something inside of it besides being tense. You can shadow hard and soft .

Let’s see it how about some movement and punches.

Here is the quote:
Yup. I was just talking step 1. An effective jab should be practiced and thrown in any direction, in any circling, and any switches while stepping/circling. But if you're asking someone to evaluate the perfect jab, I'd want to judge it unmoving. If you have any bad habits standing still, they will guaranteed follow you wherever you try to go.

Why is Lewis gun shy here to show the jab in normal speed? Is he embarrassed how it's going to look after his long lay-off?

This one is straight down the pipe and high section. Watched Lennox Lewis's instructional and got inspired. He bashed exactly what I was doing which was bouncing ahead of the jab.. It's just telegraphed garbage. Will never do so again.

Even @Sinister can't fault this one.. I think.

You aren't using any form of defense at all with that, literally with that technique and habit you'll get starched by a lead right hand, starched by an overhand right counter off the jab, starched with a pick and stick left hook, you just aren't protecting yourself at all with any movement there. Your hands aren't high enough, you aren't bringing them back to ur chin, you look like you have a degree of natural speed, but you are removing the effectiveness of that speed with an extremely obvious tell you are going to jab, everything stiffens for a split second and lulls before you shoot. a hesitation is there. Which means you can be timed very easily, and timing destroys speed every time. A very slow fighter with no tell will be considered faster than you with your current tell.

That's not even the biggest issue though - the big issue is your lack of proactive defense in any way shape or form. You are open to be bombed out at a moments notice. You aren't in position to counter, you are wide open, and you can tell when the jab is coming, so whats to stop a power puncher from just deciding to run you over? No look left hook and its done because of ur lack of proactive defense. Since you don't go back to a countering position, there is zero worry. You aren't giving anything after that to give a hint that you are dangerous still.

Pick the jab and dropping the right hand over it is an extremely dangerous counter you are extremely open to aswell if you continue practicing like that. its so loose ur hand could easily be parried away and a right hand could be sent to target every time.

Go to a gym and spar with some beginners - every mistake will be made extremely obvious then. Then you can fine tune to adjust and make urself better.

LOL. You think I would stand like that in the ring?

Hopefully not, but practice what you preach. If you practice that way, it will in some way shape or form follow you into the ring. There’s no reason to not have some of the more basic techniques being used while practicing that version of jab or any version of jab - just laziness to not incorporate it.

You said from a technical standpoint there was no flaws with that jab - but there is nothing but flaws with that jab shown- anyone can throw a punch. The sweet science aspect of it isn’t there though

Spacetime, bro. We get it you got a killer jab, it's like shooting a boxing glove arrow. But why can't we just see you once in a live spar or something? We believe in you man we're just trying to push you in that direction man.

@Sinister I understand that you've been against banning spacetime due to the comedy value, but at this point can we just throw in the towel and say that he's adding nothing of value to the stand up forum?

Well, he's not specifically doing anything bannable really. I don't understand why so many of you let dimwits like this get under your skin. He's obviously quite a sad person with self-image issues. Why should I ban someone for sucking? Every gym has a guy like this, there's a guy who hangs around our gym right now who shadowboxes with a freakin' blindfold on. We could kick him out, but he's not hurting anyone. He couldn't even if he wanted to.

@zapataxiv have you ever boxed yourself or are you just an enthusiast?
Yes I have and I have trained with several guys with good backgrounds. My first gym was ran by a petronelli bet who spent time at the 5th st gym in Miami. I also sparred and trained with amateurs and pros and boxed myself. Later in life I trained at a gym that used to be associated with jacksons before it got famous. And I have also trained with sin for a minute. currently I am training in China with a group of former boxers and getting ready for a fight myself. And possibly a tournament if I can get a couple of kgs off. I am far from the best anyplace, but I love the sport and respect it. Which is something you don’t seem to do.

i dont think he has or is willing to join a gym. At this point it is clear that there must be some type of mental issue as demonstrated by his behavior, one being delusions of grandeur. in his defense his TKD kicks are pretty good, I have yet to see anyone post a video of themselves doing one better.

When I was in HS in Virginia, there was a kid who walked around our neighborhood dressed wierd, like an extra from a Van Damme movie of the 80's/90's. My friends and I used to meet at an Elementary School every week and spar each other to see of any of the shit we learned actually worked, and this was when I was big on Eastern Philosophy and Gung Fu. The boxing, wrestling, Muay Thai, and other shit I did before this had been neglected, but this time in my life actually got me back into it. Anyhow, this kid comes striding across the field like a terminator wearing a Gi, and my friends laughed because he had on a black belt that had quite obviously been colored black with a marker or something. This kid was built like a brick shithouse though, so we didnt know what to expect when he literally asked if he could fight with us that day. His Karate was comically textbook and slow, though the form wasn't terrible. He just seemed like a guy who took karate but was just never good at the very quick sparring, but had a deep desire to hit people very hard, but loathed the idea of getting hit. Whenever any of my friends aggressed, he backpedaled faster than anyone I'd ever seen.

When I think of guys like spacetime, I am reminded of that kid. Just desperate for some kind of validation so much so that they no longer care if its positive or negative.
