So when does James Bond become watchable.

They are all rather dated, and silly, but it's part of the charm. It's not meant to be high brow cinema or anything. If the vibe of the really old ones ain't jiving with you, you might just want to skip ahead to "Goldeneye"...then skip the rest of the Brosnan movies, and watch the Craig movies that take it in a more grounded direction.

You can't do that. Daniel Craig is too serious to set a proper James Bond tone.

Watch KINGSMAN, that'll give you the modern spin on the old franchise.
I'm sad at how bad the sequel for Kingsman was that had so much potential.

Of course the early Connery films were great but I recommend On Her Majesty's Secret Service. It's campy 60's fun and has Kojak as the villian. Plus it has the austin powers outfit.

I did the same thing and was bored. I don't think I watched the Brosnon ones. The newer ones are bad ass.

remember the outcry from losers who got super upset when hearing about Idris Elba potentially becoming the new Bond?
Honestly, I think Emily Blunt should be the new 007.

Marge Simpson's favorite Bond.

So me and my girlfriend is gonna try watching all the James Bond movies. From the first to the last.

Just done watching from russia with love..

After two movies, the big question is: when is it gonna get good?
Those early movies are definitely dated. I enjoyed "The Living Daylights" (1987) a lot as a kid. I haven't enjoyed any other Bond movies quite like that one.

When they stop using the rope thing to brutalize his balls while he's sitting on the bottomless chair buck naked.

lol I bet the sick fuck writer that included that has been involved in some heinous things in his personal life.

For me, goldeneye, then it takes a break until casino royale, which was my favorite bond and one of my favorite movies.

Imo best are with Craig.

My top 5

1. Casino Royale
2. Skyfall
3. For your eyes only
4. Golden Eye
5. Octopussy

From Russia with Love and Goldfinger are an easy top 5 in my opinion so if you don't like those two...you're probably not going to like anything from that 60s/70s era. Connery is legit as hell and those are the peak of his films as Bond. So, again, it might be you just won't enjoy this franchise (until the Brosnan/Craig ones which are very different) or it could be that you wind up giving Moore's more tongue-in-cheek style a go and enjoy it.

For me, the whole series is pretty great. But the very different eras make it so you can certainly not get into the first few and still manage to like the later stuff.

I'd say my favorites are: From Russia with Love, Goldfinger, Casino Royale, Skyfall, On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

If you're looking for intense action films of a more modern style, Dalton and Craig are probably for you.

One of the best in my opinion.

Goldeneye was my first Bond flick and still my fave. I would start there. The classics can be very dull or cheesy and might turn you off the franchise.

Watch the ones with Mike Myers in the lead.

I didn't really appreciate the Pierce Brosnan movies, but liked the Roger Moore ones which were from my kiddie era.
