So paddy’s weight…

Is this a case of media latching onto a non story or is this a real serious issue bc Dana is commenting on his weight saying it affects what fights they can offer him which is entirely unprofessional.

But he doesn’t seem to really be doing anything wrong lol
Dana likes an image with a fighter, why he Hated Roy, said he could lose weight and fight at 205 if he was dedicated but I think if you been fighting the fighters probably know their best weight class and dedication does not have to mean suffering at your least amount of weight.. Like sure Roy has a good chin, but who knows, maybe at 205 the speed would have hurt him and maybe weaken the chin...

Aaron Simpson, man once he went to 170...his chin looked cracked...

Paddy is an odd ball with his weight...not sure what to think. .......I mean dam, on Mike Tyson hotbox....the dude looks like a Pizza guy lol...but when he makes weight...he looks in top shape...abs and ripped...Dana has no right imo....to care what Paddy does outside....as Long as Paddy shows up and makes weight and performs...Paddy makes MMA look like fun...if anything..

lolz. usually fighters look unhealthy at weigh-in and healthy at walk-around weight. paddy looks healthy at weigh-in and goofy as fuck at walk-around.

he looks better than most on the scale, maybe he's doing something right

He obviously has a eating disorder. Restrictions on his eating fucks with his mind. You see it happen to fighters all of the time. They stop competing and ballon in weight.

in the end of the day it is his performance that counts

Have you seen the unedited pictures? It's unreal. He's found his niche in the UFC and Dana is literally talking about how the organization has to work around that. That is also unreal.

He might be a UK show star only. Couple times a year, crush a can (RIP Monkey King) and go back to eating. If he get's in the top 10 I'll literally eat crow, on camera, for you filthy bastards.
Leavet isn't a can IMO. Paddy isn't as bad as people make him out to be. People who watch CW know this. For how young he is he has a lot of experience. I think he started at 19? I just don't think he'll ever be ranked in the top 15 but most people realize that. He's entertaining and most know this it's only the haters acting like his hype is based on him getting the belt or something/

He said he can get up to 200lbs.
From his lips not mine, and that seems like an awfully big jump in weight sir.
He always been around 200lbs even when he was killing himself to cut to 145lbs. He was dropping up to 19lbs in water. You have to look at it this way. For his last fight, Paddy started his water cut at 167 lbs. His in camp weight is revealed as 173lbs. That is when he has been dieting and hydrated two weeks before his fight. People don't ever stay in camp shape. You need to add another 5-10lbs to it. Paddy probably walks around 180lbs in shape.

Last camp he started at 190lbs. 200lbs is him stuffing his face everyday for 3 weeks after his fight. He goes on binges where he eats like 10k calories a day and weighs himself. His face gets bloated from all the salt and sugar he is consuming. If you look this picture, he really isn't that fat. It just goes all in his face for some reason. He doesn't have a belly.

He's an occasional fatty. I am too. When I get so fat I'm disgusted and my wife calls me a fatfuck, I get back in shape, then I get fat again after a few months.

That's called "enjoying life", and eating/drinking are some of the best things in life.

That's me also, I yo-yo like fuck, but now I am near 40 I am getting fatter and find it harder to find the discipline to get the weight back down

I literally go from 215 to 260plus then back down, then repeat. It can't be good for the body so once I get back down, I will never allow myself to go past 240, in fact I am going to try and stay under 230!

I can live like a monk for weeks on end, then turn into a remorseless eating/drinking beast for months!

I need to cut the drink, it is my main trigger

Kelvin Gastelum moved from welter to middleweight cause of not maintaining his weight, in the end when Paddy gets a bit older this should also be the case for him. But as it is now, he makes weight so let him do what ever.

It's not that serious, he cuts at least 25lbs of water to make 155 same as many other guys do so he's at least 180 walking in the cage, dirty bulking to 200ish between fights is nothing, Khabib was heavier than him at times. Paddy just looks fatter cause the weight goes to his face first, and fools don't understand how weight cutting works.

He's only fluctuating 15-20lbs of fat max and the rest is the water cut. The only harm being done is instead of training year-round he's chilling and letting himself get out of fight cardio, but since he's already a star he can afford to do that and leverage fights where and when he wants them so he'll be in shape when it matters. It's a complete NON ISSUE being blown out of proportion by casual fans.

The problem with all that time off is that you eventually become stagnant. That's how all the stagnant fighters become stagnant. They just train for when they have fights and just chill or go through the motions when they don't have fights. Not evolving, just focusing on retaining their current skills. The fighters that do the best stay ready and are constantly evolving. They are never the same fighter every time they fight. That model that a lot of fighters use, they are the same fighter for years and that's how they get figured out and become predictable.

I don't think it's "entirely unprofessional." It just means they can't offer him super short-notice fights. He's not missing weight, now is he?

They are independent contractors who work when they want to work and only get paid when they work. He doesn't need to fight at the drop of a hat because Uncle Dana asked.
Definitely. Short notice fights too often end in a loss for the short noticee.
Also, disturbingly, fighters sometimes get penalized for missing weight even though it was short notice.

The guy says once he’s fighting ranked opponents and the title comes in the picture he will stay in fight shape, but for he’s young and can get away with it. I don’t think it’s healthy but I believe him for some reason lol

Yeah it's real, Dana means they can't offer him short notice fights because he isn't going to be able to make weight. So it affects them in that way. They need more advanced planning for Paddy's fights because of his weight, he requires more time to drop his weight to be able to make LW.
True but he can accept short notice fights at a higher weight if he wants. BJ Penn has fought at HW. :P
