You exactly sound like my Sambo coach. I even read your post with his voice in my head. When I got in to MMA in 2005, I started training not long after and there was a Gracie black belt who would mean mug me and was a passive aggressive bitch overall. I assume this mentality was inherited by the fact that the Gracie clan inflate the egos of their students and act like there hot shit.

The whole thing never bothered me. But once I heard about the Rofino Do santos story, then and only then I started developing hate for the gracies:

yeah, I think there's just a lot of dogma that's taken a while to sort of break through. I just don't see it really being worth it for bjj guys that have good branding and can make a good living with bjj to go into mma. They'd need years of cross training and there's only so much time in a day. I think what happens a lot of the time is they just realize that to be the case and it's like too much of a gamble to toss to the wind.

Based on his Rogan interview a few years ago, it just seemed like a half hearted attempt to dip his toes in mma. I never had a good feeling about his potential in the sport.

We all know who are the Gracies he is referring to, the JJ branch which produces many rotten apples which keep popping up in the news for the wrong reasons. Ralph Gracie got 6 months for assault early this year, and I don't recall any Gracies condemning what he did and some even defended him.
Rener/Ryron talked about a 1st gen Gracie (think it was Helio) in one of their yt videos in front of a class who wanted to fight someone for an everyday trivial annoyance. As a whole the Gracies don't give enough to their Brazillian peers in the past for helping to build them up and try to recreate their past with their 'Count Combat/Koma' story.

My hate is logical for them. Many times the Gracies try to bend the truth or make shit up even as recent as 4 years ago. They did a video narrating the Gracie kimura fight and they REFUSED to call kimura a judoka. Kept saying that it was a battle between two great jujitsu fighters.

The need for them to shit on judo gets on my nerves since it is still on going. That and wrestling and boxing is better for street fights and self defense. Moveset aside, the culture of boxing and wrestling instills the need to develop exceptional levels of fitness. Gracies do not preach it, they just want to sell their shitty boring instructional.
