Hit level 12 last night and I finally beginning to understand which perks to use and which spells are better than others.

Still have no clue how crafting weapons and alchemy work.

Yes, that was the case. Everything had to be bought and activated on or before last Friday.

Damn. I totally want to replay/mod this, but I can't bring myself to pay full price for it.

you only realy need the right side of the perk tree for sneak, the left side of the perk tree for archery, put perks into light armour bonuses (5) and one handed sword (5). that would be your core.

from there you can then do some crafting, whether it be smithing, or alchemy or enchantments. I'd stay away from smithing as it isn't balanced and you become invincible.

Thanks for the info!.. doing the companion quests right now but I feel like putting them on hold and running off to the other town to join the thief guild..

Surprised people are still playing this. Ain't nobody got time for that shit.

I feel like I ain't got time for anything else! This game is consuming me all over again.

I played the shit out of Skyrim when it came out, but the action RPG genre has come a long way since 2011. The combat feels very dated.

Combat has never been its strong suit, though. The game is all about immersion and it is 2nd to none in that regard, IMO.

I played it on PS3 and it was kind of crappy. I also didn't play it "right."

I'll explain it when I see you Friday because it'll take an actual entire day to explain lol

Got Serana today.. but now I have the vampire disease... gotta get rid of this shit.

I envy you! Everything is new to you and you must focus on dozens of things at the same time! Sanguinare Vampiris is a disease, I bet there's some kind of beverage or potion that can cure those before it's too late...

If it's really your first playthrough and you have the time, I have one advice: read a lot! Read books, read notes, read plaques: read everything there is to read in-game. The immersion is very deep when you start to learn the history. If you don't know Tamriel's lore, you will learn a lot. With everyone's name, their relations, kinship and allegiances mixed in, it's a realistic fantasy universe come to life!

Enjoy the game!

all skills have their uses, but with the thief guild, I would suggest that you don't need to progress the speech skill tree as you'll be making so much money as a thief that money almost becomes irrelevant, especially once you start getting high level crafting skills and creating and selling those items off.

the pickpocket tree isn't really that necessary, as once you get to around 50 points of pickpocketing, and maybe one perk to up your chances by 20%, you can get what you need. It's more a fun perk and helps with exploiting skill training, ie you pay a trainer 200 gold for 1 point worth of training, go around back of him and pickpocket the gold back, rinse and repeat.

is level 16 too late in the game to change your play style? i was 2 handed mage, but 1 handed mage is so much better

I think you would be fine to switch. 16 levels isn't that much and you are still staying a Mage so I'd imagine many of your perks still qualify for your build.

Your 1-hand attack skill will jump up quickly once you start using it.

unfortunately it is too late... I didn't realize what was going on with the vamp disease until three days passed. I guess I need to go to a shrine or something?

shrine won't cure it.

the quest rising at dawn will cure it (go to an inkeeper and ask about any rumours) or doing the companions questline and becoming a werewolf instead
