Skyrim Special Edition

is level 16 too late in the game to change your play style? i was 2 handed mage, but 1 handed mage is so much better

That the thing about Skyrim's leveling system, it is never to late to change. In fact skill that reach 100 can be made legendary which gives you back all the perk points back and rests the skill to level 15. Later in the game there is even away to get perk points back without doing that. So that mage you started, can later learn and become the greatest thief, or warrior, or both of all time.

I was more cautious fighting vampires in Skyrim than I was having unprotected sex in college. Sanguinare Vampiris is no joke, folks.

Like someone else said, it's never too late in Skyrim! Don't give up on 2-handed mage yet: the bound battleaxe is strong and cheap to cast. If you really need to cast a spell mid-battle, it's not a real problem sheathing it, casting your spell and re-casting it. You don't need to dual cast the bound weapons: it only boost their duration, not the damage done. You never need them for very long so you keep your bound weapon in one hand and cast it when entering battle. You keep your other hand for buff spells that you must cast before bound battleaxe.

When you need to sheath it to cast, just switch your other hand's spell as required. The "arcane warrior" concept is based on that: you don't need much stamina with the buffs you get from 2-handed tree (reduce stamina for strong attack). You don't need much mana either because you just cast some buff spells, maybe one conjured creature and a bound weapon and you're good until victory. You can level your health 60%, magica 30% and stamina 10% and it's enough until end game!

No need for smiting if you're using the "mage armor" perk. With bound bow and bound battle axe, you have very strong weapons so no need to boost them more. You can focus on enchanting instead and buff your bracers and circlet's enchantment. Negate all the damage you can: fire, frost or magic altogether. You can learn some alchemy but it's not really needed. Just focus on expensive potions (for resale) and fortify enchant - alchemy for crafting. No need to be god-like, you'll be powerful enough to enjoy the game without over-buffing your character like everybody does...

Arcane warrior rules!

shrine won't cure it.

the quest rising at dawn will cure it (go to an inkeeper and ask about any rumours) or doing the companions questline and becoming a werewolf instead

There's a normal non-companions quest about becoming a werewolf, getting the ring that causes the curse and getting it uncursed. I wonder if getting the ring will negate the vampire curse, and then getting the ring uncursed will return you to normal - if that makes any sense.

If I get the disease I'm just going to make the best of it. I'll become a rich merchant and feed on the high society of Skyrim and basically just become Tom Cruise's Lestat and find a companion and call him Louis.

Combat has never been its strong suit, though. The game is all about immersion and it is 2nd to none in that regard, IMO.

I played it on PS3 and it was kind of crappy. I also didn't play it "right."

The immersion also feels dated, what with all the bugs, odd character movement, fetch quests and NPCs saying the same thing every time you walk by them.

What game in this genre do you think has surpassed it?

Witcher 3 is the only one I think that comes close and they each excel in different areas, IMO. I still find Skyrim to be more immersive than W3.

FO4 is inferior to Skyrim in many ways, unfortunately, IMO.

Witcher has set the bar for immersiveness imo. The setting captures the feel of a war torn country much better than Skyrim does. Many more meaningful, interesting characters by far. Who dont all start telling you their life story without you even asking (most of them dont care about you). Better environment, much better quests. I don't think Skyrim does anything better other than letting you create your own character and having more skills to unlock.

Can't really disagree with that. I'm not sure which game I prefer, I think I lean Witcher 3, but I definitely think Skyrim has areas where it excels way more than Witcher 3.

The story and missions in W3 are way better. No question there. Dialogue is way better. But the possibilities of what you can do are much greater in Skyrim. It has way more replay value, IMO, than W3.

And the immersion factor is way higher in Skyrim. In W3 you are Geralt. You can make choices for him but you are still shoe-horned into a certain narrative. Your play style is also shoe-horned into a narrow corridor of options. Skyrim you can do way more.

I'm really anxious to see what Bethesda can do with ES 6. I loved Fall Out 4, and I loved the settlement building, but they didn't push the envelope in any other area at all in that game which was really disappointing. I'm hoping they can take a step forward with ES the way CD Projekt red did with W3 and what Rockstar did with GTA V

im expecting a lottt from elder scrolls 6. I want to be able to build my own settlements or atleast small encampments but have much improved quests, dialogue, and combat. My standards for elder scrolls 6 are massive since it probably wont come out until atleast 2019 and i expect it to be the greatest game of all time tbh lol.

As for the witcher III vs SKyrim, they both have things that beat one another.

For example: Witcher 3 has better quests, dialogue, landscapes, combat, depth in crafting and species, while Skyrim has more to do and isn't as linear and can be replayed a lot.

And as for FAllout 4, i loveddd settlement building (they need to have that in following elder scrolls and any more fallouts), but overall everything else kinda fell flat. Besides the middle part of the commwealth, the rest is quite boring and underwhelming (especially the glowing sea), but Far Harbour was a fantastic dlc, Nuka world was decent, but overall settlement building saved the game from being a dissapoointment imo

I'm guessing while I have this vampire virus.. I should complete these vampire quests first.. before doing the side quest that gets rid of the virus?

I actually played through Skyrim with too many different builds that I'm doing some strange hippie playstyle to keep it interesting now: go around collecting ingredients trying to make meth or something. Also not using fast travel to keep it real as well.

Yeah one of my characters started off using a sword and shield and I had to change that up by the time I was around Level 10. Not the best play style for this game
Sword n' board is one of the most fun play-styles though. Once you get the shield charge perk where anyone that bumps the corner of your shield goes flying. Gets even more fun when you try to bump them off mountains and ledges.

Yeah I agree, especially with the Fall Out comments. At the end of the day I think back on FO4 and I can barely remember any strong quests. It wasn't the step forward I was hoping for, but settlement building is a must for Bethesda games going forward. If they can improve on that as well as everything else..whoo that will be one hell of a game.

im as werewolf now so no fucks given
Ya it's the main reason I join the companions don't like the vampire weaknesses. And you don't have to do the quest thing.

I haven't fast traveled at all in my current play through. If I become super familiar with a certain area I may start doing it, but I find it more interesting to travel by foot or horseback.

Has anyone used the mods that add hypothermia and camp fires? I'm considering trying that but I'm not sure I want to yet.

The Ring of Hircine doesn't give you the werewolf curse. If you're not already a werewolf, it just doesn't transform you randomly. Honestly it's better to do that quest before becoming a werewolf because getting out of Falkreath without transforming is a bitch.
