Btw boxing has no weight limit, why does MMA have to have one?

Boxing seems fine without a limit, you see guys fighting there. Zhilei Zhang weights 282 lbs and he's quite athletic.

Zhang carries noticeable fat and could cut to 265 very easily. There shouldn't be a weight cap on HW but you'd have Tai and Lewis showing up 340lbs as big fat hogs. Maybe the solution to HW is just to close the division altogether.

Yes, we need more Kimbo vs DADA 5000
Jokes aside, you are losing some credibility with this thread TS.

While I'm opposed to a HW limit in principle, as others have said it wouldn't make much difference anyway. 265 is already loaded with fat fucks and even gigantic frame dudes like 6' 8" Tim Sylvia easily made 265 while being half man, half cheeseburger.

This has been done to death in MMA and other rulesets with the overwhelming conclusion that 230ish is big enough to go toe to toe with the biggest dudes. The cardio demands of MMA and going 15+ minutes of explosive movement isn't realistic for dudes much over 265 anyway, especially if they have to at least pretend to pass PED testing.

That said, I'd like to see the HW limit removed or otherwise increased to 285 which would accomplish the same result: allow the (very few) genetic freaks and outliers who can't make 265 to try to play ball.

Sure, let's bring even more unathletic fatsos into the division. 😣

Look how retarded people have become.

They simp so hard for dwarf fights that they have even convinced themselves that we should have an artificial limit on the only division that actually matters.

Let's not allow a guy the size of Nikola Jokic fight at his natural weight because hEs a fAtSo.

Boxing allowed Zhilei Zhang who was 280 lbs fight Deontay Wilder who was around 220 when they fought. I say removing the weight limit is a brilliant idea

I say remove it but it functionally doesn't matter historically the sweet spot for HW has been like 235-250.

Heavyweight hardly has fighters as is. It would just let fatties like Tai fight at 310 and he have 45 seconds of cardio.

Inspired by this thread.

I mean you want to see the baddest of the baddest at HW, lets have no limit at all.

I want to see the best most athletic monsters out there fight the best at HW.

Making it the ultimate weight class. And the best fighter clearly is the baddest man on the planet.

What's your take on that?

Why do they need to change it?

Do you believe there are guys out there that could NEVER make the 265-266 weight limit? Yet they can fight in the UFC?

The 265 pound slobs we get now aren’t enough to even make you interested in HW? Would a 300 pounder be more exciting?

How many times does this thread need to be made?

Send them to POWERSLAP, buddeh.

You can be an obese “athlete” (300 pounds) in slaps.

Do we honestly ever NEED to see this thread again?

in theory the unathletic fat men u speak of wud wash out n get cut if it really was a problem. No morbidly obese fighter has ever done well. THey've all been Zulu cans getting plooked left n right so that problem should take care of itself

Make a super HW weight class. There are a bunch of athletes from other sports we can poach. Those freaks don't make as much in other sports. You can poach from kickboxing, strongman, arm wrestling, powerlifting etc etc. Don't get me wrong. It's not going to be a high skill division but everyone likes big guys trying to kill each other for a minute. The lack of cardio also means a ton of stoppages. The big issue is testing.

Zhang gasses after at best 3 rounds with no wrestling. That is the issue it would be horrible

About 84% of the votes are either for no weight limit or increase in the weight limit. So the people have spoken.

Yes there should be a thread about this, there hasn't been one with a poll. And look at the poll it clearly says most people want to see a change for a no weight limit or at the least increase the weight limit. Therefore there is an appeal for this by the audience.

Like I said before, the potential fighters will thoroughly be screened. They won't just sign some fat ass who can't fight. So this is going to be a rare group of guys that are out there that they can sign. So we can see the odd freak show fight. I don't understand the argument against this. This just gives the opportunity for guys who are super heavy's fight in this organization.

Boxing has been doing it for awhile, why not the UFC?

Well I don't think so, at least give it a try and see how it goes. If it doesn't work than put the weight limit back. But I don't see what's wrong with giving these fighters an opportunity to fight in the biggest MMA organization in the world.

Let's see something different for a change. Like how Pride use to do it.

I don't know why people act like we'd end up with dozens of Reems. Fat guys. We'd get a lot more fat guys that gas after one round.
